The new theme blocks feature is a game-changer for developers. This means you can now use nested blocks to create highly customizable pages without multiple app integrations, doing this significantly improves site speed and user experience. A faster site can boost SEO and conversion rates, so it's worth investing time into optimizing your theme's new structure.
Thanks for your videos and newsletter. They’re my go-to for Shopify updates. I’ve got to say, though, I don’t agree with you on that the new blocks features being too much. As a store owner, more options excite me. Complexity isn’t a big deal, we can learn and adapt. It’s great to have the new tools to customize our stores without relying heavily on 3rd part app or theme developers. I mean Shopify being always ignoring customer feedback in favor of 3rd party apps Thanks for keeping us informed
Yeah, I think most store owners watching this channel are the more technical type, and would really enjoy the flexibility. But it's also important for Shopify to remain simple, clean and reliable. I think that's what gave it an edge over other platforms in the past. The lack of flexibility was good in a way - it would steer/constrain novices towards good design practices.
Thanks Ed for the showcase of the new upcoming features! Really informative. As a developer, this is quite exciting, can't wait to try out the Theme Blocks, similar to framework reusable components. This will open up a whole new array of possibilities and customizations. I also agree with you about the complexity level of Blocks being potentially an issue for non-developers / store owners. Too much power is not always ideal.
I rewatched your video here Ed as there is little or no tutorials out ther on the advanced use of Category Metafields. I noted you mentioned a possible deep dive video on this feature at some point, still on your list? I am working on a Shopify website that could ideally use simultaneous UK/US/FRA/DE size variants on the product page to help customer selection (in addtion to and beyond using Size Charts and Sizing Guides etc) yet havent found anything that helps me configure such a feature! Meanwhile hat tip for all your good work here, you are a rockstar.
Hey Ed, big thanks for the awesome video showcasing the new blocks! I checked out Shopify's videos, but tbh, I was still a bit confused about how the changes really look and how to use them. Your intro cleared things up big time! Excited to update my Prestige theme and profit from Shopify and theme updates. Cheers!
Hey, thank you! Glad it cleared things up. By the way, I noticed Prestige version 9 already came out just a few days ago and it supports the new color filters and variant swatches I believe. We just need to wait for Shopify to launch product attributes in the admin.
@@EdCodes I already updated to version 9 and it’s ready for the new changes :) still let’s see how they solve the option they offer that every product and variation is set up as own product page, linking all of them with color swatches. That’s a nice feature they have but maybe can’t exists anymore with the new changes of Shopify. Let’s see :)
Great tutorial! Could you also do one on adding color swatches to product pages? Shopify support walked me through how to do it on Dawn 15.1.0, but I'm still not sure that mine is setup correctly. Would love to see a video to know for sure! They had me delete the metaobject from custom data for color and create a new one as a metafield. However, I'm still having some trouble with my new setup!
Thank you very much for this video. You have answered some questions that I couldn't find answers to over the past two days. Also, thank you for the suggestion to call Shopify and ask for the variant update. I am in the middle of building a site and I need to decide how to structure the product data within the next two weeks. I really don't want to use a bundling or option app.
Awesome, glad to hear that! How many product options do you have (e.g. size, color...)? If it's more than three then you need a bundles app anyway. I didn't mention in the video but Shopify's native Bundles app just got an update - up to 30 products per bundle now.
Hey i need help about product page setting. When i change picture on product page tamplet i will change on all product i have listed on store.kindly make video how to change tamplet picture on pages
Yes, I hope so too, but they need to keep the defaults easy to edit. There is also a group of users who struggle a lot with the theme customizer as it is now, with using templates etc... They will struggle with the flexbox-based positioning - content direction and position etc...
Hey Ed! Do you know if the new product color swatches for v13 will enable sorting/showing ONLY the images that match the color swatch that is selected, or is this still custom code?
For the product page? No that would still require custom code. Unless you are using Shopify Plus, which they announced will now allow "combined listings" i.e. separate URLs and product images and descriptions for each variant.
Why they need to do is to start allowing for us to have the option to sell products by specific quantities with out having to use any third party or having to pay any developer.
How Do I Copy/Paste A Table From Excel Into Bulk Editor To Change The Price in multiple variants when each pirce is different from each other? anyone facing the same problem?
That was good well explained and easy to follow and worth watching again if needed. Thanks again, awesome.

It is for custom made jewelry with many variants and this is my first shopify build.
@@EdCodes It is a custom made jewelry store and each item has many variants.
You mentioned Shopify adding swatches for Product pages in the next couple weeks. Should I be able to access that now?
It's still not out :(

Are the updates live yet? Does anyone know?
This is amazing 🎉
I hope Shopify realizes that they have a group of users who are technical 'non-developers' and that they don't dumb the theme blocks down

How do I get rid of the quantity selector? Please help me with this. Thanks
This was launch for the public?
Can everyone access this feature or just developers as I don't see it, when I look my section to customise.
Have the features of Shopify 24 Winter been released for actual use, or have
they only been announced?
They have only been announced. Some of the features will be released in the next few weeks, and some much later.
