No high lumen projector can physically fit inside the animatronic's heads and even if they were able to invent one small enough, the head would be so tightly packed that you can only project on its nose and not on the entire face, because projections require distance. An LED screen molded into a face would be easier. This is the same technology Lady Gaga used in her Born This Way world tour. She had an animatronic floating head (lol) made out of LED screen that floats around the stage

Also, in certain videos, you can see the face is actually a blank white due to the projectors refresh rate not being synchronized with the camera frame rate. Also, if it was indeed LED, it would actually be way too bright and would not be as "white-out" as projectors. Projectors have a distinct "screen," which are more white than LEDs. This is not the first time disney has used projectors for faces/mouths. Take a look at Seven Dwarves Mine Train. The projectors for the faces are also located inside the head as seen in the patents (which you can see by searching it up on google). Also, on Cars, McQueen has a projected mouth, but in his case, the projector is located in front of him.

The real mountainside/hillside behind Arendelle makes the entire land more immersive. Too bad the other parks don't have such natural beauty as a backdrop.

Although I had watched the video of Frozen Ever After in epcot, I am not expecting to be that touching when I took the boat ride😭😭. I think the biggest surprise is that the drop is way more intense than expected . I don’t have to travel from Hong Kong to epcot to experience FEA, coz I can simply go to HK Disneyland to take this ride❤. Clarification: I’m Not a big fan of Frozen. But this ride is now my favourite ride in hk Disneyland.
They will. This is the standard for their animatronics now. I can't WAIT to see that ride cause the songs slap and I imagine it'll smell like beignettes in the restraunt scene and I'm excited to see if they add the ball scene and dr felicity

Just went today. The wait time was 110 min for a Monday. And there was access control to even enter frozen land. I had to get the premium pass to go in quick. Fantastic ride n I wasn’t expecting the drop to be that intense.
US Disney : Hmmm, face projections on a mannequin that look wrong from the side and creepy from the front, good enough and it's way cheaper this way! Overseas Disney : Oh wow the animatronics are great, mouths are moving, eye brows rising and falling, great attention to detail! ... oh yeah they pay way less for tickets too
The backwards drop really took me by surprise lol although I think they’ve adjusted the timing of the ride since this video was filmed because yesterday I think the door closing lined up with the timing of the door closing at the end of Let It Go
this is only the first of several new versions of frozen ever after; the next one set to open this year is in walt disney studios at disneyland paris, followed by another one in the fantasy springs expansion of tokyo disneysea
The frozen franchise/ip seems about to rival Mickey. The depth of merchandising and adaptation of this ip is enormous. Good thing Mickey has seniority. ;). Nice to see love for the characters though. The frozen story had a deeper level that touched the audience heart.

There is no reason not to… it sucks they just slapped Frozen Ever After in Epcot. That might have sealed it’s fate of us ever getting a Frozen land.

I'm not saying EPCOT needs it (except for the better animatronics), but this is the caliber of themed additions we need. Instead, Disney has been busy adding single attractions (Guardians, Tron, etc.) with zero cohesive additional supporting theming.
I'm sad to see that the staging for the first Olaf animatronic looks a little less ambitious. Not having him follow your boat through the scene feels a little less magical. But, man, those new character faces look VASTLY better.
I also felt the static backdrop there was a poor choice. Disney LOVES projections, why not use some there to make the waterfall behind Olaf come to life?

Hey look! This one isn't nightmare fuel! Who'd've thunk? The new animatronics look amazing! Seems like Olaf, Sven, and the Trolls all still have projection applied to their eyes/faces, but I'm sure Hong Kong will actually take care of their attraction, unlike the stateside parks.
I had rode it on 5 Nov as an annual pass holder. FEA in hk is way more intense than that in epcot. I had watched the video of the boat ride in epcot, the one in HK is way steeper and higher. I got chills as Olaf, Anna, Kristoff and Elsaare all looking me😊. The wait time is around 50-90 minutes today, but was around 5 minutes when I rode it during the priority preview. It is sooo amazing. Some visitors said that this ride is a lot better than the one in epcot in terms of scale, presentation, height and centrifugal force.😂 Btw, this ride has safety bars lol 😂.
@@enoch1087 I think your right. I tried watching videos of EPCOT FEA also. Their drop feels much more gentle than the one in HK. Basing from the vids of other HK FEA, it feels kinda intense and steeper. Maybe that's why some CM's are actively warning the guest in the start of the queue line that there will be a drop in the ride.

That's a shame disney forgot how to make good dark rides... I mean things displayed aren't even that bad and all but i'm not even talking about the quality itself, but you used to need 15 rides to get all the details in a dark rides, but here if you look at anything but the 3m² sets they want us to look at you have nothing to see. Nothing. But that's the base for a good dark ride ; _ ; That's what it's all about

Ride needs little more light to so ride looks more beautiful ; 5 or 10 minutes. beautiful robots and art. The Structure Bravo.

@@巧-x4p that helps 💕 i handled journey to the center of the earth in japan a little bit well but almost cried but it was like 5 heart ache level i felt. Soooooo if its short i think it would be better 😂

That's a shame disney forgot how to make good dark rides... I mean things displayed aren't even that bad and all but i'm not even talking about the quality itself, but you used to need 15 rides to get all the details in a dark rides, but here if you look at anything but the 3m² sets they want us to look at you have nothing to see. Nothing. But that's the base for a good dark ride ; _ ;
