- A quick introduction to the Prussian garrison city of Potsdam, including Sanssouci and many other attractions. And way too many kings called Frederick William.

To discover Potsdam I really recommend to rent a bike. Potsdam is quite large and especially the different castles and palaces can haven far distances.
In my humble opinion: One day for Potsdam is NOT enough.
I lived here for 15 years, and I still discover new things.
But maybe you should spread out you Potsdam visit a little bit,
or else you could easily be over-saturated by all those parks and palaces.
The "problem" is that Potsdam is overshadowed by Berlin and lots of people would just come for a day trip.
You are right, Potsdam is worth a 4 night trip only Potsdam.
I love Potsdam, it's so green and you always find new things by bike
Best video of Potsdam I have ever seen. I went once to that city, and as soon as I got out of the main station, it was beautiful. Also, even with my bike, I couldn't saw all the worthy places. That is why I'll go tomorrow again.
Cette ville de Potsdam devient de plus en plus belle, année après année depuis la chute du mur de Berlin. C est une belle réussite. Bravo
The art gallery at Sans Souci was spectacular!
Hey, its Potsdam - thats where i took my avatar picture 2 years ago. It was such a beautiful and bright and shiny city. Totally worth a day-trip from Berlin to visit the palace and its gardens.
Such a beautiful city! If I were to visit there, I would schedule a full week for it. This is another excellent tour Sir! I always give your work a thumbs up, usually before the introductory Advertisement is done!
Excellent. I went back to my visit to Potsdam a few years back. Loved the trip. Fell in love with the place
I visited Potsdam a few years ago. We read some books about Potsdam in order to prepare for our trip. Now I fell as if I had seen nothing at all...
Your reports are brilliant. Consider organising tours with your patreons...
Wonderful paradisic place. Been there a few times because I'm addicted to Berlin. Visiting Potsdam is a must if your travel destination is Berlin. This vid uncovered for me new corners of the city I didn't know existed. Thanks RB.
Fantastically curated video. Excellent and befitting score.
Dear Rewboss,
I haven't watched a lot of your travel vlogs yet, because I really liked your linguistics and concept explanation videos and thought that the other stuff just wasn't for me.
Yesterday my mother in law visited, and she announced that she's learning English now to spice up her pensionist life. So I remembered your channel (you have a very clear pronunciation, and your subtitles are excellent, making it ideal for learners). Since she loves to travel in Germany, we picked this video as the first sample.
She loved it! We had such a blast, me enjoying the very well produced content, and she being excited about every sentence she understood. :)
I will now proceed to watch all your other travel vlogs, finally realizing what I had missed all these years ignoring them.
Just wanted to say a big thank you for your thourough work putting these together, they are fantastic! Also, may I suggest to add "Stendal" or "Tangermünde" to your potential future destinations list? While less well known than Potsdam, especially the latter has a lot of medieval buildings to offer, plus a rich history of one time being the "capital" of the HRE.

I've watched many of your videos but have just found this video by chance. I've been to Potsdam ...a great day out if you are staying in Berlin. Very picturesque and a different vibe to the big city!
Simply amazing! Both your video and Potsdam.
Interesting that parking structures back then were actually beautiful building.
What a ride. You never know what's next :D
When I worked at Potsdam Uni in the mid-90s, we used the right building behind the Neues Palais and boy was it a dump at the time. Built as for housing servants, after the war it got used by one of the MfS (Stasi) training centers. The library was really something else.
So many sights...
Beautiful City.
Haha, I had wondered for half a second why the grass was so brown in Potsdam, then I looked out my own window here in Berlin and saw the fields of brown grass and remembered that it's brown everywhere here right now!
I'm glad to see that the Garrison Church is being rebuilt. That was where they had the funeral for President Paul Von Hindenburg in 1934, which Hitler and the Nazis attended. Alfred Hitchcock worked at the UFA Studios before he returned to Britain.and his fabulous career as a director. Potsdam was considered the film capital of Germany, like Hollywood,
potsdam spelled backwards is madstop. but i'd still love to visit it someday.
I'm really scared of so many buildings which pretend to be vintage.
Potsdam ist wirklich schön und einen Kurztrip wert.
Great, altough I missed the potatoes on Frederics grave.
😅
12:59 "This is another example completed in 1843 and it is NOT what it looks like". I am wondering what DOES it look like? given how Andrew is scared of naming it!
Awesome!
Love the video
Side note: Housing shotage isn't something new. It exists practically since towns exist and not just at the moment. And big cities, especially with universities always have this problem.
Trust me: it's a lot worse now than it was 30 years ago.

Well, there are always ups and downs regarding the accessibility of living space. In Germany for the past 30 years many communities reduced or even stopped social housing and sold their buildings to private investors and passed their social housing companies (Stadtbaugesellschaft) into privat hands too. It's not very surprising to see a shortage now.
I been there 1997

Damn. You get your royalty free music from the same source as that porn game i like.

Andrew, bist Du eigentlich ein Kunsthistoriker oder ein Germanist oder doch was anderes?
Germanist.
lithiumdeuterid Danke für den Hinweis.
0:08 What is that Building? Why is it flying the Imperial Flag?
It looks to me like the French flag, not the Imperial German flag (that would be strange).
Definenitly not the french flag.
Maybe an embassy
I googled it, it is the German Imperial Flag . It is part of the House which is under monumental protection. That is why its there.
