Term insurance is really tough to get..Insurance companies are so smart that they try to give it people who are very healthy. Most MRIs have Zurich insurance and as an NRI, I can say it is a must.
Yes, HDFC has recently started to provide riders for NRI status as well but it is subject to underwriting. HDFC covers waiver of premium rider, critical illness rider and income benefit rider upto certain extent. There are other riders as well like cancer cover, accidental cover but we don't recommend as it is already being covered in the above three riders that we recommend.
I got the information that, Max Life Term Insurance will not provide Waiver of Premium at the time of critical Illness/permanant disability for NRI . This provision only for Resident in India. Kindly advise.. Thanks..
When I decide to get a term insurance I have contacted ditto, policy Bazar and even insurance companies customer care directly. As an NRI in kuwait finally I took a plan through policy Bazar without any medical expense in my pocket. Hdfc customer care representative told I have to bear my medical expenses but through policy Bazar it's free of cost.
