Andrew, thanks so much for this! Not only was it my favourite Hot Wheel, it was my first! It cost me a whole dollar back in 1968 - two months allowance! - and I can still remember picking it out from the brand new Hot Wheels display rack at the newly-opened Woolco in Kingston, Ontario. A couple months later I got the loop and jump track set for my birthday, and my years of Hot Wheels enjoyment was underway. This brings it all back! Beautiful job, and it will have pride of place on my home office desk. I’ll let the grandkids look at it, but it’ll take a lot of pleading before it comes out of the display case! Now, if only Hot Wheels made a four-door brown Dodge Dart…
You're most welcome, Doug! Glad it elicited such great memories. Me too. Between your Galaxy 500 land yacht and the fabled Dodge Dart, we were too cool for school! Good times in Kingston! 🍁☕️👊😀
Wonderful builds for National Redline Day Andrew! You did a great job returning those cars to the way they looked when they were new back when I was a kid. The Silhouette is one of those "special" castings for so many of us - it always brings a smile whenever I see one.
Thanks, Jim. Not too many castings cross my bench without eliciting some kind of memory. I often wonder who owned them and put their initials on the bottom and how they ended ultimately up in Switzerland... 🍁☕️🤷😀
Wow, both good as new. I think you did a fabulous job, in most of the restoration videos I’ve seen, the only way to really achieve a mirror finish on these originals is to plate and polish, I think these really are as good as new! Thanks for doing these and posting them up. Definitely a “Was” and are now again!
Thanks, Brian. I've got all the stuff I need to set up a plating system. Just haven't done it yet. Opportunity missed here. Still not a bad result. 🍁☕️👊😀
I have fond memories of all the Sweet 16 cars, but I don't have a single casting left from my childhood. Fun to find and restore them all these years later. 🍁☕️👍
2 for 1! Fantastic! You're always quick to praise my automotive, custom and racing history. I want you to know I learned something from you this time. I knew the car disappeared, but I never knew which year! Rumor has it that it was buried secretly to avoid it from falling into the hands of some drug dealer (or dealers.) Great video! You used a clear red over chrome for your tailights which made them very realistic, but MATTEL did them in a more opaque color. As long as you're a "Happy Marty" with that, I'll be as well. Have fun with your toys!
I'm happy with these two. Learned a few new things about doing the redlines, so it was time well spent. My friend picked the green one as his choice, so he'll never see my fabricated side pipe. Glad you finally picked up a factoid at MLC, David. First time for everything! 🍁☕️👍👊😀
They look great! We always learn a lot during building 😉 4 sidepipes! 💪 i never tryed a redline. I have a few. But no replacement wheels. Perhaps next year i‘ll give it a try.
Fabulous and fabulous, Andrew. Two great finishes to boot.......... Thoroughly enjoyed those 👍🏻🇨🇦👏🏻🇬🇧👌🏻🇨🇭 Looking forward to that Bluesmobile; the car has pickup?

Thanks, Dane. Always appreciate seeing your name in the comments. 🍁☕️👍
Have you really only built 300 cars?
That's the exact number. Too many? Not enough? Basically one a week since I got started. 🍁☕️✌️
