I have kept improving my diet as I've gotten older. For me this means incorporating more fruits and vegetables and eliminating most processed food. I finally quit drinking altogether also.
It didn't happen to my Dad until he turned 85. He lost 40 pounds and reversed his T2DM. I'm 62 and still have a huge appetite, cannot believe it could continue like that 20 more years
What the doctor is relaying I've seen through personal experience. What you eat matters and it changes with age/stage of life. At nearly 62 I'm as healthy as I've ever been on a WFPB diet for 21 years.

I agree with this observation. I have really enjoyed Zoe and learnt so much. I believe by slightly reducing the ongoing cost per month after the initial period so many people would keep subscribing and it would be beneficial to all.
LOVE the bit at the end where children are finding it hard to change their elders. ITS the other way round for me, I’m following the advise and feeling really good on it but my 2 adult children don’t want to know.
I am 52, pre-diabetic, and I live in Hong Kong and would love to do the test here. Meanwhile I've been following the generic advice for 8 months (30 plants/wk, eating the rainbow, daily fermented food, 10-hour eating window), and I'm losing weight slowly but surely and feeling great.

All my life I ate peas, beans and lentils and lots of fruits and vegetables. Stopped eating meat over 30 years ago but still eat fish, eggs and some seafood. After major surgery and radiation therapy my digestive system has become compromised. Developed IBS and cannot eat legumes and some veggies and lots of fruits. Would appreciate if Zoe can address this situation.
I agree. I've also had chemo radiation, multiple surgeries. I'm now experiencing digestive issues. Due to IBS-D, my diet is similar to yours. I also would like Zoe to address diets for folks with digestive diseases, which is a growing problem in developed countries.

I am a healthy 83 year old . I don’t care much about longevity. My goal is to die healthy. I don’t want to spend years in a nursing home because of a stroke or memory care because of dementia. I don’t want to be in pain for an extended period because of cancer. Unfortunately, my appetite hasn’t decreased much, but, I can easily say no to junk food.
This is so refreshing, I am in my sixties and my body has definitely been telling me that my nutritional needs are changing and that this is not something to be concerned about, thank you 😊
It’s interesting that what you eat while pregnant can impact the foods your children will eat and can tolerate. I did not eat meat during pregnancy because I could not stand the smell of it cooking. I did eat eggs, cheese, mushrooms and beans. My daughter now only eats a bit of fish once in awhile but mostly eats vegetarian meals.

Yes my mother took,86 healthy, never goes to the doctor's (I think that is key) cooks everything from scratch - another key element and grows her be own veg. Eats chicken and fish, no dark meat. Only carbs she has is bread, difficult to get the British off their bread!! I think supermarkets play a large role in the heath of the nation, and I see changes here in Spain sadly, where supermarkets are now pre - packing meat and fish, and the veg counter gets smaller and smaller!! Also very difficult to buy ingredients to bake - as they sell already baked goods 🤔.
I wish everyone wouldn’t keep assuming that the 70s is ‘old’. I am 66 and have never been healthier. My parents were living full lives at 90 and certainly never had food issues and didn’t ‘fall over’. Surely the 70s is the new 40s
I've found that nuts and legumes trigger excruciating migraines. Since I cut those out, migraine frequency dropped by more than half and so did the intensity of the pain. I have to limit seeds as well. Some, like sesame, are worse than, say, pumpkin seeds, in this regard.
I think optimal amounts of dietary fiber is critical for all ages. I must say that in this day and age there are less and less stereotypes and myths about aging, functioning and the needs of aged individuals. The more that clinicians include those of older age in their efforts and recommendations about diet and exercise, then the healthier and more functional we will all be.
sure, you can get protein from plants but what about K2? the general public was unaware of K2 until relatively recently, most still haven't heard of it. what other nutrients will be discovered? we don't know everything yet.
I eat fish and seafood as well as fruits/vegetables/nuts/seeds and I take D3/K2, Omega-3 and Magnesium supplements. I would still take a K2 supplement even if I did eat land animal meat.
This is wonderful stuff but please can we find a language that describes food that we know are not nourishing rather than labeling them as 'treats' and 'fun' . These words are not helpful. These foods are simply different and less beneficial for our bodies and in naming them as treats and fun this says all the other good food is not enjoyable, which quite clearly they are and its important to give them the respect they deserve. If we ate putting judgement into labeling then maybe we should call the good foods 'high value' 'gold star'. 1 thing is for sure, languahe matters. 38:23
Nutrient density chart is easy to find online, do a google images search. Then I would suggest searching calorie density right after. Enjoy vegetables, fruits, legumes, whole grains, and a small amount of nuts and seeds daily- and see for yourself why

Surely everyone knows by know that they should subscribe to see more videos by that channel. What are you talking about? Fiber slows down the digestion of carbs and absorption of sugar and calories into the blood stream. High fiber foods help stabilize blood sugar and improves insulin sensitivity. The affect on microbiota impacts the immune system and insulin sensivity. Meat is high protein, low carb. Doesn't spike blood sugar, however, if you eat a lot of meat, it can spike your blood sugar. Both keto and plant based are great diets in my eyes. Both give substantial improvement in health and blood work parameters. Being on keto though - a lot of the benefits come from avoiding foods that spike insulin. When high carb foods are brought back in, people still usually do not tolerate them well. On a plant based diet, carbs are better tolerated. Insulin is more sensitive. You'll hear ppl argue back and forth between these diets though bc the mental clarity and decrease in inflammation from lower bloodsugar on keto is great for health! The affect of fiber (high carb) on gut health is immense. I have difficulty finding the correct diet.
I am on a low carb diet, but i won't call is a"legitimate" keto. I lost 20 lbs in 4 months by gradually decreasing carbs. I have been eating cucumbers, lettuce, etc the approved keto veggie.elimiated sugars and refined foods. every marker is down in my blood. I love these podcast, thank you, but I'm curious because I have been following your diet advice to a tee and after a year and a half I have ended up with gluten sensitivity, IBS, and a mess of microbime. I'm spanish and I'm 62 years old so I have never consumed ultraprocessed food, except maybe bread an industrial yogurt and I have not eaten too badly or too well either. My daughter was given nuts as a child, then as a teenager developed an allergy to all nuts. As a baby, she was allergic to eggs and chocolate. When she had children she was told to not feed her children nuts. Not that she could anyway because of her severe allergy. She woke up one morning in anaphylactic shock, after something blew in from the window overnight.

I hated peanut and peanut butter until pregnant but whilst pregnant, I craved that and cheese, and fish. He was born with a genetic immunodeficiency and masses of allergies including potentially fatal allergies to dairy, wheat, fish, peanuts and eggs 😢
I hope the probable incoming Labour government sees sense and intervenes to provide better nutrition for Britain: taxing UPFs heavily and subsidizing fresh fruit and vegetables, teaching cooking skills in schools and the community, and campaigning in every medium to illustrate the disastrous effects of the deplorable Americanized diet of most Brits. I doubt it will happen because even Labour is in the pocket of Big Food (not that most of its muck is actually food as we understand the term) and the political will probably isn't there, but the current situation is a ticking time-bomb.

As a step mother it 'kills' me that my partner and his ex 'allow' our 9 year old to eat 95% carbs and always get dessert with every lunch and dinner. They think 'forcing' him to eat a carrot with dinner is a good thing as he munches on burgers and pizza and fish n chipsandnoodles n butter as a foundation. I worry he is being set up for blood sugar issues regardless of his kid metabolism

I can't blame parents for not feeding me with the right foods when I was growing up during harsh time in a former communist country.vegetables were available In seasons and for that I am truly grateful to the local growers and farmers for providing us valuable ingredients for cooking nutritious meals.i think key is keeping it simple colorful on the plate and do intermittent fasting and a lot of movement .be omnivore when growing up and plant based after 40❤
Excellent point re: avoiding constipation as we age. If you aren't familiar with anal prolapse, look it up. It's common in the elderly and best avoided.
Listening to the part about teenagers and reflecting on how poor school meals are, even with the safeguards in place about what they can be offered. There is also the fact they seem to want to eat junk not real food and no amount of encouragement to eat healthily will work.
Interesting. A lot about OAFAS, which I suffer from. Old Age Falling Apart Syndrome. One thing worried me, tho. The only supplement I have ever taken that seems to make a difference is NMN, a NAD +. Since taking 250mg daily I have had more stamina. Never struggle to stand up and can sprint a fair way to avoid missing a bus. I’d read that it is safe but there’s a theoretical chance it could cause existing tumours to grow quicker. But Dr Amati suggests it could be a causal factor in some bad cancers. Does anyone have a reference to a study suggesting this? Tried to find it but couldn’t.
The content is just fantastic but the interruptions from Jonathan are value-destroying. The interruptions caused the guest to share 25% of the information she otherwise would have shared. I mean, you can't ask her to clarify what a "trimester" is and repeat every point 3 or 4 times.
It can be a bit much sometimes, but what Jonathan is trying to do is summarise and clarify what she's saying. This is important to reach a broad audience, of which not everyone is up to speed with the latest in nutrition science or health advice in general.

If clarifying for a broader audience equals repeating everything 3 times without value addition and interrupting the guest speaker every two sentences, that is painful and value-destroying. He needs to improve dramatically.

So... 'good diet, no smoking, reduced alcohol, physical movement are the four pillars to healthy living'. Ok, so what about stress??? A lot of the reason I drink more alcohol than perhaps Is should is down to do stress, particularly in the past. I'm now retired early as stress plus obviously too much drinking was clearly killing me, BUT is stress worse than alcohol in the scheme of things?
Please please please: Menopausal women are getting REALLY contradictory information about protein, including from your guests. Stacy Sims is recommending as much as 2.4g/kg (that's about triple the US RDA) while Federica Amati is basically telling us not to worry about protein at all until we are in our 70's. I suspect this is because they are looking at different studies and different outcomes, but it is very confusing for women like me who are trying to navigate this phase of life. Can you please bring Stacy Sims and Federica Amati together in one show and ask them to talk through their differences on this topic? I don't expect an answer, but understanding the evidence that each is using to come to her conclusions would be really helpful. Thank you!
How can you make a full podcast about nutrition and life stages that only mentions infant feeding once, and that in the context of food fussiness in toddlers? I can’t share this podcast with my my daughter, who is a midwife and infant feeding specialist, because she would be ballistically incensed!
Because it is introducing the importance of diet through the various stages of like. Hopefully toddlers can be treated to a podcast on the subject at a later date.
Fussiness in eating has lasted way beyond toddler age in my grandchildren. They’re a nightmare to feed and not so malleable as a toddler anymore…and my daughter insisted on baby led weaning. Nothing was mashed or puréed. Food was just presented to them in its’ basic form at 6 months. Now they barely eat anything beyond a cheese sandwich. They don’t even like chips!😮

I thought fish & shellfish are no longer a healthy option due to the polluted seas as well as overfishing /low fish stocks and other bad fishing & farming practices. And, apparently , fruit & veg no longer contain all the nutrients they once did due to monoculture farming /soil erosion - fruit for example has genetically changed to contain a higher sugar content, less bitterness, no seeds etc. Would love for you to elaborate on these issues . The depletion of the soil is certainly a problem. Zoe are so anti supplements. All very well, if the food we are getting is full of the nutrients that they say they are, but in many cases this is no longer true.
I ate plenty of peanuts, because I loved them, during pregnancy with my youngest son - he has a peanut allergy. So I’m the not sure the latest advice holds true. .
Not the case. A good interviewer asks a question but seeks clarity or context where the diverse audience may need it. I’ve seen this help my elderly family members better understand.
I like these podcasts, but seems an unnecessarily complicated way of saying: eat a healthy, varied diet; don't get fat; don't smoke, and exercise. Also, moderate alcohol consumption still leads to a longer life. No more than "two or three glasses of wine a week" is far too restrictive and not based on the best research. Check out the countless number of Eric Rimm interviews for alcohol research at its best.

My 93 yr old father. Red meat potato little fruit 8-10 meals week no dementia no osteoporosis 95 yr old mom. Very little meat. Tons of veggies. Osteoporosis with destroyed bones. Full blown dementia This dietitian isn’t going to speak on the benefits of red meat ? Especially for aging???
Sadly, the idea of a 'nutritionist in your pocket' no longer applies. The Zoe app has moved away from individual coaching to a so-called community approach where Zoe membrs (ie unqualified members of the public) give each other support, with the occasional comment from a trained nutrionist.
Having read your comment before listening to this episode I paid particular attention to your critique point. This podcast was consistently information dense with actionable instructions.
If we don't try for net zero, homo not-so-sapiens and a whole lot of other species might well die----at least, according to the overwhelming majority of climate scientists. 95% of the species that have ever lived on this planet are now extinct because they couldn't adapt to changing conditions. Ironically, our species is creating the conditions to which it is increasingly failing to adapt.
Not my favorite. I'm over 70 and healthy. learned nothing from this with the exception of advice to eat less protein not more. did the math: 2.6oz compared to other recommendations of 3-6 oz. PS no one want s to cook at 80.
People eat a lot of meat only in places that are harder to grow veggies and fruits, such very cold place or deserts, and their body is adjusted to a heavy meat/fish diet due to their diet environment. In most places, hunting wasn’t that easy and required a lot of energy. People would eat a lot of root vegetables, nuts, wild fruits and wild whatever was available - providing them lot of fibre and antioxidants . The way people consume animal products nowadays is not healthy. We are not hunting, we are just buying meat from the supermarkets that is full of antibiotics (70-80% of the antibiotics produced in the world is given to farm animals), not mentioning the factory farming and depleted soil for grazing animals (farmers have to supplement livestock with b12). I’m 47 and 14 years ago I went fully plant based, mostly whole foods, and that was the best thing I’ve done in my life. I never had period cramps and discomfort again. I never have headaches (only when I had Covid). I have so much energy and I always feel content with life. Plant food makes me feel light and healthy, so I believe I do not need animal products to be healthy. However, I’m nutrition educated. I avoid refined ingredients and I cook most of my food from scratch. I grew up with my mum reading ingredients to us, to never drink Coca Cola qnd other sugary drinks. We rarely had ice creams and candy, rarely we had pizza and burgers. We didn’t have money, so meat was only on weekends.

I wish everyone wouldn’t keep assuming that the 70s is ‘old’. I am 66 and have never been healthier. My parents were living full lives at 90 and certainly never had food issues and didn’t ‘fall over’. Surely the 70s is the new 40s

I've found that nuts and legumes trigger excruciating migraines. Since I cut those out, migraine frequency dropped by more than half and so did the intensity of the pain. I have to limit seeds as well. Some, like sesame, are worse than, say, pumpkin seeds, in this regard.
I think optimal amounts of dietary fiber is critical for all ages. I must say that in this day and age there are less and less stereotypes and myths about aging, functioning and the needs of aged individuals. The more that clinicians include those of older age in their efforts and recommendations about diet and exercise, then the healthier and more functional we will all be.
sure, you can get protein from plants but what about K2? the general public was unaware of K2 until relatively recently, most still haven't heard of it. what other nutrients will be discovered? we don't know everything yet.
I eat fish and seafood as well as fruits/vegetables/nuts/seeds and I take D3/K2, Omega-3 and Magnesium supplements. I would still take a K2 supplement even if I did eat land animal meat.
This is wonderful stuff but please can we find a language that describes food that we know are not nourishing rather than labeling them as 'treats' and 'fun' . These words are not helpful. These foods are simply different and less beneficial for our bodies and in naming them as treats and fun this says all the other good food is not enjoyable, which quite clearly they are and its important to give them the respect they deserve. If we ate putting judgement into labeling then maybe we should call the good foods 'high value' 'gold star'. 1 thing is for sure, languahe matters. 38:23

i think you should produce a list of "nutrient dense" foods because just saying this line is so generic and doesnt mean ANYTHING to most people.
Nutrient density chart is easy to find online, do a google images search. Then I would suggest searching calorie density right after. Enjoy vegetables, fruits, legumes, whole grains, and a small amount of nuts and seeds daily- and see for yourself why

Everybody wants to make a name for themselves, write a book, give , interview and buy a "healthy" product ... btw, I am neither carnivore nor keto,but I find this questionable. Btw, I eat a very low carb, no sugar, no refined foods like flour etc diet but i won't quite call it keto as yet. Also work out everyday. my blood markers are perfect! Big difference from December to now, and I wasn't diabetic even etc. Just wanted to improve my markers!

What are you talking about?
Fiber slows down the digestion of carbs and absorption of sugar and calories into the blood stream. High fiber foods help stabilize blood sugar and improves insulin sensitivity. The affect on microbiota impacts the immune system and insulin sensivity.
Meat is high protein, low carb. Doesn't spike blood sugar, however, if you eat a lot of meat, it can spike your blood sugar.
Both keto and plant based are great diets in my eyes. Both give substantial improvement in health and blood work parameters.
Being on keto though - a lot of the benefits come from avoiding foods that spike insulin. When high carb foods are brought back in, people still usually do not tolerate them well. On a plant based diet, carbs are better tolerated. Insulin is more sensitive.
You'll hear ppl argue back and forth between these diets though bc the mental clarity and decrease in inflammation from lower bloodsugar on keto is great for health! The affect of fiber (high carb) on gut health is immense. I have difficulty finding the correct diet.
I am on a low carb diet, but i won't call is a"legitimate" keto. I lost 20 lbs in 4 months by gradually decreasing carbs. I have been eating cucumbers, lettuce, etc the approved keto veggie.elimiated sugars and refined foods. every marker is down in my blood. Feel terrific, that is why I cannot understand that ludicrous statement she made.

What the mouth craves is not necessarily what the body wants.Take addiction, for instance.
Long term health does not rely on increased plant protein and decreased animal protein. It is increased plants.

I love these podcast, thank you, but I'm curious because I have been following your diet advice to a tee and after a year and a half I have ended up with gluten sensitivity, IBS, and a mess of microbime. I'm spanish and I'm 62 years old so I have never consumed ultraprocessed food, except maybe bread an industrial yogurt and I have not eaten too badly or too well either. This is not intended as criticism because I know that your advise is the best, it is just that I'm trying to understand what happened
My daughter was given nuts as a child, then as a teenager developed an allergy to all nuts. As a baby, she was allergic to eggs and chocolate. When she had children she was told to not feed her children nuts. Not that she could anyway because of her severe allergy. She woke up one morning in anaphylactic shock, after something blew in from the window overnight.

I hated peanut and peanut butter until pregnant but whilst pregnant, I craved that and cheese, and fish. He was born with a genetic immunodeficiency and masses of allergies including potentially fatal allergies to dairy, wheat, fish, peanuts and eggs 😢
I'm 105 and still on bowling team, and I'm into rock climbing. Age means nothing when your eating right!

I hope the probable incoming Labour government sees sense and intervenes to provide better nutrition for Britain: taxing UPFs heavily and subsidizing fresh fruit and vegetables, teaching cooking skills in schools and the community, and campaigning in every medium to illustrate the disastrous effects of the deplorable Americanized diet of most Brits. I doubt it will happen because even Labour is in the pocket of Big Food (not that most of its muck is actually food as we understand the term) and the political will probably isn't there, but the current situation is a ticking time-bomb.
If you have any faith in any government in power, you are in for a quite horrific shock. Both parties are in the pockets of corporations. Big food, big tech, big pharma, big anything. We are given the illusion of choice, but both parties are two wings of the same bird. Most of the governments in the west are controlled by the WEF by their own arrogant admission. The only way this country improves is by not having a government, or living out of the corrupt system. Grow and raise your own food, home schooling, filter your own water, don't use banks, never register anything and probably the most important thing is, never watch the state owned propaganda. Throw out the TV, because everyone mistakenly thinks this thing is gospel.
I absolutely endorse this that Government should intervene. But it's not as simple as whether they are influenced by 'Big Food'. If the electorate got wind this was what they were planning (any political party) they wouldn't be voted in, it's as simple as that. The Great British public are torn between indulging in what they like (freedoms) rejecting the Nanny State and expecting Government to be the answer to all ills picking up the pieces including free at the point of use healthcare. I remember when schools tried to ban unhealthy packed lunches. Parents were picketing school gates and handing parcels from the chip shop to their children over the fence. Tragically it will take more than one generation to unpick the dietary mess (the western world) is in and will have to be done in small steps. Changing the public's behaviour is a complex business 😐
As a step mother it 'kills' me that my partner and his ex 'allow' our 9 year old to eat 95% carbs and always get dessert with every lunch and dinner. They think 'forcing' him to eat a carrot with dinner is a good thing as he munches on burgers and pizza and fish n chipsandnoodles n butter as a foundation. I worry he is being set up for blood sugar issues regardless of his kid metabolism
I REALLY like the Zoe podcasts and I REALLY like this doctor but I do NOT agree with her statement at 29:14 about not needing meat. I believe the official Latin medical term for this is "crapola". That statement is a bunch of crapola. You need grass fed red meat, wild caught Alaskan salmon, eggs and cheese. Sorry doc.
I can't blame parents for not feeding me with the right foods when I was growing up during harsh time in a former communist country.vegetables were available In seasons and for that I am truly grateful to the local growers and farmers for providing us valuable ingredients for cooking nutritious meals.i think key is keeping it simple colorful on the plate and do intermittent fasting and a lot of movement .be omnivore when growing up and plant based after 40❤
Excellent point re: avoiding constipation as we age. If you aren't familiar with anal prolapse, look it up. It's common in the elderly and best avoided.

Listening to the part about teenagers and reflecting on how poor school meals are, even with the safeguards in place about what they can be offered. There is also the fact they seem to want to eat junk not real food and no amount of encouragement to eat healthily will work.
Interesting. A lot about OAFAS, which I suffer from. Old Age Falling Apart Syndrome. One thing worried me, tho. The only supplement I have ever taken that seems to make a difference is NMN, a NAD +. Since taking 250mg daily I have had more stamina. Never struggle to stand up and can sprint a fair way to avoid missing a bus. I’d read that it is safe but there’s a theoretical chance it could cause existing tumours to grow quicker. But Dr Amati suggests it could be a causal factor in some bad cancers. Does anyone have a reference to a study suggesting this? Tried to find it but couldn’t.

The content is just fantastic but the interruptions from Jonathan are value-destroying. The interruptions caused the guest to share 25% of the information she otherwise would have shared. I mean, you can't ask her to clarify what a "trimester" is and repeat every point 3 or 4 times.
It can be a bit much sometimes, but what Jonathan is trying to do is summarise and clarify what she's saying. This is important to reach a broad audience, of which not everyone is up to speed with the latest in nutrition science or health advice in general.

If clarifying for a broader audience equals repeating everything 3 times without value addition and interrupting the guest speaker every two sentences, that is painful and value-destroying. One thing is to clarify, the other is repeating everything 3 times without adding value. The guests are quite knowledgeable. Every time he speaks, he takes out air-time. He needs to improve dramatically.

So... 'good diet, no smoking, reduced alcohol, physical movement are the four pillars to healthy living'. Ok, so what about stress??? A lot of the reason I drink more alcohol than perhaps Is should is down to do stress, particularly in the past. I'm now retired early as stress plus obviously too much drinking was clearly killing me, BUT is stress worse than alcohol in the scheme of things?
Please please please: Menopausal women are getting REALLY contradictory information about protein, including from your guests. Stacy Sims is recommending as much as 2.4g/kg (that's about triple the US RDA) while Federica Amati is basically telling us not to worry about protein at all until we are in our 70's. I suspect this is because they are looking at different studies and different outcomes, but it is very confusing for women like me who are trying to navigate this phase of life. Can you please bring Stacy Sims and Federica Amati together in one show and ask them to talk through their differences on this topic? I don't expect an answer, but understanding the evidence that each is using to come to her conclusions would be really helpful. Thank you!
How can you make a full podcast about nutrition and life stages that only mentions infant feeding once, and that in the context of food fussiness in toddlers? I can’t share this podcast with my my daughter, who is a midwife and infant feeding specialist, because she would be ballistically incensed!
Because it is introducing the importance of diet through the various stages of like. Hopefully toddlers can be treated to a podcast on the subject at a later date.
Fussiness in eating has lasted way beyond toddler age in my grandchildren. They’re a nightmare to feed and not so malleable as a toddler anymore…and my daughter insisted on baby led weaning. Nothing was mashed or puréed. Food was just presented to them in its’ basic form at 6 months. Now they barely eat anything beyond a cheese sandwich. They don’t even like chips!😮

I thought fish & shellfish are no longer a healthy option due to the polluted seas as well as overfishing /low fish stocks and other bad fishing & farming practices. And, apparently , fruit & veg no longer contain all the nutrients they once did due to monoculture farming /soil erosion - fruit for example has genetically changed to contain a higher sugar content, less bitterness, no seeds etc. Would love for you to elaborate on these issues . The depletion of the soil is certainly a problem. Zoe are so anti supplements. All very well, if the food we are getting is full of the nutrients that they say they are, but in many cases this is no longer true.

I ate plenty of peanuts, because I loved them, during pregnancy with my youngest son - he has a peanut allergy. So I’m the not sure the latest advice holds true.

I like these podcasts, but seems an unnecessarily complicated way of saying: eat a healthy, varied diet; don't get fat; don't smoke, and exercise.
Also, moderate alcohol consumption still leads to a longer life. No more than "two or three glasses of wine a week" is far too restrictive and not based on the best research. Check out the countless number of Eric Rimm interviews for alcohol research at its best.

Other podcasts address the food and cancer issue specifically. Run a search. This podcast is about how food needs change as we age.
@@SuzanneU I understand what it is about and it scopes in how, at certain postulated phases of life, to minimise the risks of premature death and reduced quality of life from certain conditions, I think cancer could have usefully have been scoped in.

Sadly, the idea of a 'nutritionist in your pocket' no longer applies. The Zoe app has moved away from individual coaching to a so-called community approach where Zoe membrs (ie unqualified members of the public) give each other support, with the occasional comment from a trained nutrionist.
This never ending conga line of TH-cam health 'experts' would have a lot more credibility if everyone didn't have a book to flog...

She is wrong about meat which has been our food for millions of years.
People eat a lot of meat only in places that are harder to grow veggies and fruits, such very cold place or deserts, and their body is adjusted to a heavy meat/fish diet due to their diet environment. In most places, hunting wasn’t that easy and required a lot of energy. People would eat a lot of root vegetables, nuts, wild fruits and wild whatever was available - providing them lot of fibre and antioxidants . The way people consume animal products nowadays is not healthy. We are not hunting, we are just buying meat from the supermarkets that is full of antibiotics (70-80% of the antibiotics produced in the world is given to farm animals), not mentioning the factory farming and depleted soil for grazing animals (farmers have to supplement livestock with b12).
I’m 47 and 14 years ago I went fully plant based, mostly whole foods, and that was the best thing I’ve done in my life. I never had period cramps and discomfort again. I never have headaches (only when I had Covid). I have so much energy and I always feel content with life. Plant food makes me feel light and healthy, so I believe I do not need animal products to be healthy. However, I’m nutrition educated. I avoid refined ingredients and I cook most of my food from scratch. I grew up with my mum reading ingredients to us, to never drink Coca Cola qnd other sugary drinks. We rarely had ice creams and candy, rarely we had pizza and burgers. We didn’t have money, so meat was only on weekends.
