Nice job! Great proof of concept. For added depth, the next step would be to tie this thing into an actual flight simulator using a 3 motor platform system that can also move the aircraft up and down depending on altitude (Within reasonable limits, obviously) and bonus points if you give the jet fighter some kind of ejection system so when you crash in the sim, the lego pilot ejects.

Another challenge: You could try to do this again, but here are a few criteria you could follow:
    - Make it fully mechanical. The only thing that isn't mechanical is a LEGO Electric Motor which drives the axles and gears and assembly that powers the whole flight simulator.
    - If you want to make it EXTRA FULLY MECHANICAL, try to use a LEGO Wind-up Motor instead of an electric motor and then make a gearbox so you can wind it without effecting the whole flight simulator.
    - Make a black box. Hell yes, the best thing of an airplane (and perhaps most useful of all), black boxes. While you can't make a fully-working black box which can be put inside the plane, because that's impossible and not what I mean, you can have a LEGO Technic liftarm assembly that can grip a pen to draw on a sheet of graph paper. This way, you can get a sense of how well you did and how your flight went due to it calculating altitude, speed, heading, etc.
    - Make it like a model airplane would fly. So currently, your flight simulator is stationary and starts out in the air. You can't land it or see it fall from the sky, which is, no offense, pretty disappointing or underwhelming. The most exciting part of flying an aircraft in a flight simulator is the breathtaking look at your airplane so high in the sky. I suggest some sort of chain or liftarm assembly to make the aircraft able to rise. I also suggest to make the airplane smaller to minimize the amount of pieces. You can use the same system for the other parts of the plane to make it pitch, yaw, roll, etc.
    - Make mechanical dials. Mechanical dials can show a lot. Speed, pitch, heading, altitude, anything.
I'm currently trying to design some sort of flight simulator like this, and I hope I finish it before the end of the year.

Had hydraulically operated front and rear steering. Needed the rear to always return to center unless it was active. Not enough time in the world to describe here all the planing as well as the circuitry for the potentiometers and micro switchs. Now you can buy that stuff already made. I think you could back then but it was not cheep
