Good choice. I use N160 in my .243 and 7x57 and I find it is a nice mild, slow-burning powder which is tolerant of variations in charges. The only caveat is that I have to load quite beefy charges of N160 to get proper obturation - with weaker charges I get sooty cases.
@@bruceteel7 You might want to increase the powder charge as sooty cases are often accompanied by gas and soot blowing back into the bolt and even the shooters face which can be dangerous. I had good accuracy with the weaker powder loads but ended up going for large powder charges that balanced accuracy with good obturation, for safety reasons.
Have you ever thought of just charging the case and placing plastic thread protectors in the case mouth. That way you can still get the benefit without having to transfer the powder from the glass vials to the case. Then you do not need a box for the vials, just your ammo box.
I wanted to ask you a question. Do you know a 6.5 cartridge that groups well ? I've been trying the creedmoor with no success after testing many kinds of bullets and powders. It seems that the barrel is whipping a lot, giving very inconsistent point of impact each time the conditions change. Just impossible to tune
I don't know anyone shooting a 6.5 successfully in competition. I know a couple that shoot it, but haven't seen anyone win with one. Not sure why, lots of good 6.5 bullets out there.
Great Video. Thank you for sharing your process. Has helped me fine tune my own.

I did notice the soot on the lower charges

Got a link for those vials? Do you look for low ES-SD or just for accuracy nodes that group well?
What size are those glass vials? 4ml, 10ml?
great video cheers man!
Good luck with the shoot
Are you using this in the br or .284

Hi Bruce ! at what distance did you perform this test ?
This was at 300 yards, I prefer 600 yards, but the closes range for me is 2 hours away.
What charge increments are you using on this test?
. 2
What cartridge is it for ?
