Cornwell Power Cart Review

  • UPDATE: I think the cart is manufactured by Sunex, not Kennedy as I said in the video.
    Ever seen one of these? It's a tool cart with a power drawer. The only one that I know of on the market. Mechanic's Time Saver (MTS) announced a similar one a while back, but I don't think it made it to market, so as far as I know, this Corny one is unique
    Let's give it a thorough once-over!

    Love my cornwell pro series cart its a great cart!! Cornwell bought the Kennedy plant so they manufacturer thier own tool boxes and carts.

      @CoyleTools  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes, Cornwell bought Kennedy in 2016. This cart, however, was not built by them. After I shot the video, I realized the cart was probably made by Sunex, since the build features are identical to other Sunex carts.

    I bought one of those carts 1st thing I did was order 2 swivel casters to replace the fixed one. Having the fixed casters is a big hindrance. The other thing I wish they did was follow along with snap on with the 1st drawer being deeper

    That would be a great cart for someone that doesn’t need a lot of tools and wants to keep everything in one location. I had a cart with 4 swivel casters and went to a bigger one that had 2 fixed. It definitely rolls straighter and easier if you have to push it far away. It’s much harder to maneuver in tight spaces though.

      You have to take the good with the bad on this cart... more so than other carts because of the unique design.

    Thanks for letting me tour the cart yesterday. Regardless of country of origin, I think the cart will make a great addition to any tech/mechanic/hobbiest/tool collector. I like the color and the texture of the finish. The power drawer wasn’t exactly what a would want I think it would be functional in most shop setups. How I would use this in the shop is have it as a free standing setup. I would stock it with basic hand tools, ratchets/sockets/wrench’s/pliers/hammers/etc. I would also be able to add additional specialty testing equipment like fuel, oil, and coolant pressure testers, along with power probe and multimeters, and I would also keep pneumatic and battery operated tools with chargers in the side station. I would also run a tablet and charger there, as well as a scan tool, so techs aren’t walking back and forth checking for info, wiring diagrams or grabbing basic tools. I could supplement specialty tools from the shops main box. The less time a tech is walking back forth the more money we are both making!!!

    Pièce de résistance means the best feature, usually showed last. In my eyes it's like "Last but not least" but it's actually the best thing about what you're showing, or what we've been waiting for. It's an expression you can't literally translate it too.
    I like the box a lot. I'm a big fan of tool carts, however this is a bit pricy for what you get. Thanks!

    I got this box and while I agree the build quality is okay my only gripe is the wheels. They are hard plastics with a sleeve style bearing, box would shake on a smooth floor. The mounting base for the wheels are not heavy duty and can not swap for snap on style wheels due to mounting plate.

      This is the reason I’m considering trading mine in on a Snap On KRSC46 or 242. I’m hardly ever in the same bay twice and many times I’m moving from one end of the shop to the other. I’ve had to develop a routine of going through all my drawers and moving everything back into place after I’ve moved it. That and or shop isn’t totally level everywhere and I’ve had issues with a couple of the drawers creeping open on me with the box just sitting there.

I would love to see a video on the Extreme Tools 41'' tool carts as there is almost no information about those online. They seem very unique in features compared to all other carts out there. @@shawnb4234 Thank you, Shawn. I'm grateful for your comments and viewership. I'd love to get my hands on those carts. I've seen them in person at a tool show a couple of years ago and haven't had access since because the pandemic has caused the cancellation of the shows last year. At the time, I didn't do a thorough going-over of them, but in hindsight I wish I had because from what I could tell, they were built very well and looked great. So somethings I’ve found with my orange one.. my best friend sells Cornwell so he did me a solid on the cart HOWEVER here’s my cons. The pry bar holes, 3 in the middle.. for long bars the holes are not big enough around for my bar tips, the drawer length and in the top isn’t wide enough for my socket or wrench organizers to fit well or at all, (currently trying to reconfigure a better fit), chargers space is limited if you don’t have all of one type of power tools. Fishing the back end of the drawer stinks also.
    Other then that I absolutely love the cart. Looks good, rolls nice, decent size box. Oh another issue, but it’s me not the cart.. being a power unit you have to remember to take it to the plug at night to keep your goodies charged! 😂
