bowlback mandolins were still very popular well into the 1940's in Europe, especially in Italy and Germany. I dont know if this was the case in America but i can imagine that they were still being build into the 1930's there... Also the star inlay in the headstock looks really like something from the 20's. That’s major surgery. Would have to heat and flatten the neck or remove the fretboard, plane the top of the neck flat, insert a stiffening rod and re install fretboard.
