  • The Footrope & Diamond share the same scheme of crown and wall along with lead tuck pattern so are they the same knot? Watch and see.

If you tie them single - without doubling, you'll notice the difference properly. The Footrope knot is the Diamond knot upside down and vice versa. You can also see better that in the Footrope knot the 3 strands come out of the firstly tied crown, so to speak through the middle. Whereas they come out of their own bight in the diamond knot. Like they do in Matthew Walker knots. Also in the Footrope knot the strands go into the knot separately ie each through its separate bight whereas in the diamond knot they go up into the knot through the middle. I was so puzzled by them in my beginning, I needed to solve that.

It always amazes me how much I slight change of tension, direction of pull or simple change in the order of how you tie a knot gives it a whole new character.

@@all-tied-up_net So true, I have tied some ABOK knots a bit wrong ie didn't dress them as they should have been and they looked completely different. But the Footrope vs. Diamond knot was a proper puzzle and I was so excited when I solved it. It helped me with creating longer variants.
