My favorite Dr. Greg Carr sayings, " Oh no question!", "Let's be very clear", and the one that makes smile every time, "In fact, I have a book..." . These classes are everything ❤

      Karen Hunter Show
It is very much an opinion that has information rooted in facts as well. Just like the notion of religion is an opinion as well, which is why there are over 5,000 different religions that are practiced by humans today. Because if religion was a fact there would be one true “Accepted Religion” by all rooted in fact, which there is not. Now what say ye Ms Karen Hunter?

      Our Story Told Backward🤔
      Let God Speak:
“For the Lord will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob. And the people shall take them, and bring them to their place: and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the Lord for servants and handmaids: and they shall take them captives, whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors.”
      ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭14:1-2‬ ‭KJV‬‬
“When the most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel.”
      ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭32:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬
“And the Lord shall bring thee into Egypt again with ships, by the way whereof I spake unto thee, Thou shalt see it no more again: and there ye shall be sold unto your enemies for bondmen and bondwomen, and no man shall buy you.”
      ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭28:68‬ ‭KJV‬‬
“And the Lord shall bring thee into Egypt again with ships, by the way whereof I spake unto thee, Thou shalt see it no more again: and there ye shall be sold unto your enemies for bondmen and bondwomen, and no man shall buy you.”
      ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭28:68‬ ‭KJV‬‬
“For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.”
      ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭7:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬
“The earth is given into the hand of the wicked: he covereth the faces of the judges thereof; if not, where, and who is he?”
      ‭‭Job‬ ‭9:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬
“The Lord hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.”
      ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭16:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬
“As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.”
      ‭‭Romans‬ ‭9:13‬ ‭KJV‬‬
“For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:”

I love these conversations. Thank you Baba Carr and Sister Karen.
When I think of the ocean I feel Yemaja/Ast, and when I think of the rivers and streams I feel Oshun/Het Heru. I feel Beyonce held these two Orisha/NTRU in balance in Black Is King as she called on us to face our inner demons and come back home to our true selves.
In my opinion, Black is King was an amazing interpretation of The Lion King through the artistic lense of Beyonce's understanding of African Cultures and Spiritual practices. I found the artistry of it all to be outstanding.
I did not fear the darkness because she started with light. I felt she would bring us back to the light. And I know that out of the darkness comes the light.
More importantly, I trusted myself and my personal relationship with God to reveal the message that was meant for me in it, and to keep me focused on the ultimate purpose of all experiences, which is to stay steadfast on the journey to our best selves.
I love you both, and this ongoing conversation, and will continue to lift you both in love and light. God bless.

Mind blown once again! As someone who has a keen interest in Brazilian culture, there are so many dots being connected this morning, and I am so grateful to you, Karen, and Dr. Carr for being who you are in earnest, and providing this nourishment. But I realize that the true gratitude will need to show up in my actions in this world, at every 'crossroad' that presents in my life going forward. I think so many of the things we need to learn happen when they're meant to happen, and not a moment before. With the greater knowledge comes more power and more responsibility- I worry that I won't have enough courage or wisdom to make the right moves. The story of my recent ancestry (white, european) is getting the power and enough material knowledge to destroy, but not the wisdom to control that power in constructive ways. But now I think maybe I can go further back in this journey to the origins of humankind in Africa, and see a better framework for things I've always sensed intuitively
but could never articulate until hearing the words of Dr. Carr. There's so much to learn and apparently no shortcuts, but I'm reminded of Gilberto Gil's lyric: "Cada Tempo em Seu Lugar" ("Each Time in Its Place"). Perhaps having humility is itself good, to prevent one from getting too far ahead and swerving into over-confidence. Anyhow, thanks as always for this blessing. ♥️

A very special thank you to both of you for this conversation. I opened my 'Women of Color in the United States' class at Purdue with 'Brown Skin Girl' by Beyonce and 'WAP' by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion. Students were required to VIEW the videos and to READ the lyrics from paper and respond to what they saw, read, and interpreted. I had sat down with my 14 year old daughter to watch BLACK IS KING together AND I sat her down to watch WAP (uncensored) together. It was URGENT for me to watch WAP with her because of my own FEARS about being woman and raising a developing young girl. I often give her the real, the raw data she needs to process the world. I did NOT view BLACK AS KING as URGENT because of fear, it was simply NECESSARY for her self development because her father is from Ivory Coast and I am from Louisiana and I practice Ifa. Long story short, BOTH videos were necessary for the reasons Dr. Carr has broken down as it relates to the Crossroads. My students find FEMALE EMPOWERMENT as the common denominator in each video. They mentioned the lower level and the higher level of what it means to be a woman. I truly appreciate this and I may get my students to listen to this show for their C.E.L.L activity. Lastly, BLAKE, OR THE HUTS OF AMERICA is phenomenal! I wanted to say more but this was too long for a TH-cam comment. Love to both of you. Tell Dr. Carr 'hello' from Jolivette and Nadja (my daughter).

Thanks so much for the break down of Black Is King, It's sad when our people don't know their own cultures, and therefore readily dismiss them, while watching the short film i was so emotional, because I'm fortunate to know much of our ancestry culture, so i understood everything i saw, but was sadden by the fact that many of my friends and family didn't understand, therefore they began their negative comments, thanks again brother Carr and sister Karen, we appreciate y'all

Beyoncé’s Black is King was truly a gift to those who know or seek to know who we truly are. it was an emotional and spiritual experience that should be seen. We should be celebrating black excellence in this brilliantly executed piece of art. I truly appreciate Dr.Carr’s insight and review. This greater understanding of the film and its message, symbols etc... is needed for all those who seek to connect back to ourselves. They need a part 2 to actually explore further - this is Dr.Carr’s lane - please continue the review next week???!!!
