I really hope the 1.16.5 version of the mod comes out sometime soon, this is my favorite mod of all time because it helps make my builds come alive
@@iamanerd5706 Exactly why I love this mod too. I love making a faction that just patrols my build I made such as a village or something. For example, what I made in this video XD Makes it such a better experience in minecraft
@@Knightdream Sometimes I'll play vanilla and I'll have made a build or have plans for a build (such as a village or fortress) and then I'll realize they will remain pretty much empty for the rest of time. Feels bad

I kinda wish there was more option for builders, like I dunno, set them to want/need/prefer to use ladders/stairs, use torches in the dark or below certain light level and such.

Great video! You went really in depth, this is a fav mod of mine but I was hoping to learn more.
Question though, what do you think one should do if an NPC goes missing? The wand has limited range in finding them, so if you lose a companion NPC, it's impossible to get another until the first is gone right? What do you think?
Ohhh hmmm. Well if you’re using a follower (since I dont use the companion role cause its broken) wherever the NPC was first placed, that’s where it will return to once it’s job is done with your minecraft character.
Usually if I have a follower/companion, I put them in a ‘Inn’ where they will return to if they die or run out of follower time.
To find an NPC is a more difficult part. The NPC wand can only find NPC’s that are in your current view distance.
I usually make a clone of each character I have and put them in tab 9 for safe keeping.
If you really really want to find this NPC no matter what, I tend to go to MCEdit, then import my world into that third party program.
(I use the older versions of MCEdit) which allows me to see red dots in my map which are entities. I can then go to the cords of where those entities are to find the NPC.

Agreed. I would have to say it helped me too. It can really make your minecraft world feel like its multiplayer when you have many npcs wandering around. Like the village I made in this video is from an old map I made for Custom NPCs. Definitely comforted me back then

Btw where do you find the skins of your npcs? Are they downloaded or player skins?
1:10:00 I think you already know but you can use soul stones and it won’t be consumed in creative mode it’s a lot quicker
I find my skins on Novaskin. Usually I download them just so I can have that particular skin, but if its a multiplayer world. Everyone else needs the skins downloaded too.
I would use soul stones, but I am just used to the cloning tool LOL

Indeed it is out for 1.7.10, however, it’s an Unofficial update from a user who got permission from the creator of custom npcs

I grew up playing this mod, and wish they would upgrade it to newer versions. I just came back to it, and this was a good refresher, you also taught me some new stuff I didn’t know were possible with this mod. It’s such an underrated mod.
Just one thing, every time I try to upload a texture with a URL to an NPC with the model of a mob, it completely glitches out, and gives me a very broken texture, any idea how to fix this? (I am on the newest 1.16.5 version.)

Ohhh, sometimes I also get an issue with putting URLs as textures. Sometimes some skins are for really really old minecraft versions. Which is why it will not work. Or sometimes I just fixed it by opening up the minecraft skin directly and copying image address from it.

Hey man! I have been searching for Custom NPC users for a while now because I wanted to learn the mod to use it in my Minecraft Movies.
I had a question. Do you use replay mod with Custom NPC?
The reason why I am asking this question is, I am using Replay Mod with Custom NPC mod and whenever I use the NPC pather, I record with replay mod, then when I go back to check the replay, my NPC is always out of sync with Minecraft characters. This is hard to explain, I was just wondering if you had any solutions because you have some experience in Custom NPCs mod.
It could be replay mod's fault as well, but I can't find anything on the web.

Any idea if the creator is intending to update to 1.18? I want to combine this with other mods than only work in more recent releases. Great video, had no idea the mod would be this huge!
The mod is really huge and is incredible!
However, I believe that it’s also a lot harder to update to current versions of minecraft.
It took the mod author awhile to update it to 1.16.5 when it was already out for a bit. I wouldn’t expect it to be out for 1.18 anytime soon.
Nonetheless, this mod is really amazing and is worth it to be on the same versions as it :)

Currently it is out for 1.16.5 as of Feb 4th. I don't know if the mod author plans to update it further but you can check on the mod author's discord page.

Is there anyway I can make npcs grow without scripting?
So for example like after a certain amount of time it turns into another NPC to make it bigger and stronger overtime
That’s a good question. I know theres a way to make them stronger at night compared to the day or vice versa. (Since you can make it have separate stats between night and day)
You could make a modified version of each incremental step on how they get stronger and the more the players completes a certain questline, you could replace that NPC with a stronger version each time.
I made a mercenary corps with the Immersive Engineering/Immersive Intelligence mods

I'm just wondering, it is possible to stop time? I have been trying it so hard, i have ideas, i alredy have a way to do it, They are just Effects that they are Jump Boost 200 (You can't jump), Slowness 255 (You can't move), Weakness (You can't damage), Mining Fatigue (You can't break), Blindness 255 you're not supposed to see what happens, Glowing 255. I have tried the Beacon Role, but it has normal limits, it can't reach 255 or 200, but i have find Dialogues and i can use commands when they are used (The Dialogues) But i only can put one Effect per dialogue, So do i can put that a lot of dialogues at the same time, different ones, not one that seems like Two or Three, More than just one without needing to answer the Dialogue, is that possible?.
In this mod, I don't bellieve you can stop time. you can manually with the npc wand where you can freeze all npcs? May I ask what you are trying to do?

How did you make the npc have a exclamation mark above it's head when the quest is available then have it disappear after completing it and also the chickens getting a skull when you activate the quest
Now that is advanced stuff! I am glad you're getting into that part of the mod.
Unfortunately it has been awhile since I did that quest so I am running off of memory.
So for the quest marker above the head, you can go to the availability tab, for the 'markers', and make it so that quest marker will only show up 'before' selected quest is started.
Once the quest has started, it will no longer be there since it will only be 'before'.
For the chicken skull icons, I did the same thing as the exclamation mark, but, instead of 'before' I selected 'when active' so only when you are on the quest, those markers will be there.

It it possible to make them do specific actions in a specific order?
Like, probably picking up something specific, or going to a specific block, and such.
As if they were acting, y'know.
Is it possible with this mod, or do we have to look for another one?
Picking up something? You could prob simulate it with the dialog role with a moving NPC. So when it gets close to another npc it triggers the dialogue. You could write something about how it picks something up from that other npc.
However, I haven’t figured out how to do it since it’s difficult.
You could potentially code what you want to happen. There is a part for that but it’s useless if one doesn’t know coding.
I have looked at other mods to see if anything compares to this. But Custom NPCs is by far the only mod that can do anything this specifically
Hey, Knight, you have any updates on the guy who created this mod because I remember on one comment you said that the creator will update this mod to 1.16 sometime around 2021?
It is out for 1.16.5 now :) however, every couple of weeks, he comes out with a new update that fix some bugs. Unfortunately there are some bugs that aren’t as great.

Unfortunately no, but! The mod author did say in his discord channel that he will have a 1.16.5 version out in 2021. So sometime this year

I can't hit the NPC in creative mode, or survival. I can only hit it in survival when the aggressive tab is turned on under Factions, please help. what could I do?
It sounds like your character, your minecraft player, is 'friendly' with said NPC. Switching it to the default Aggressive faction will automatically make it hostile. But have you tried clearing your player data in the global tab for faction reputations? If you clear that, that should fix it. Let me know if it works :D

Unfortunately the mod author hasn’t updated it to 1.16.5, it is out for 1.14.4 and lower though.

I did a video on the epic fight mod so I can check what version of minecraft it uses.
So i checked Armourer's workshop and Epic fight mod. Both of them have 1.12.2 version. I am assuming that they both will work because Custom NPC's has a 1.12.2 version too.
I would give it a shot cause these are awesome mods to put together for a minecraft playthrough!

Correct! Like if you have the mod Grimoire of Gaia, you can use those models to create Custom NPCs! Grimoire of Gaia has a config option to disable spawning of all creatures it adds, so you could use all the models without it being anywhere else in your minecraft world!

I will have to check but naturally works with the global tab for mobs that auto respawn in the world like sheep on grass blocks. You can make NPC’s auto respawn. But it can be dangerous if they respawn over and over again

I believe you to make their attacking method ‘nothing’ so they ignore everything combat related. So they don’t retaliate, neither do they flee.

i want to make a tower defense type, i know i cant make them dissapear or anything and i cannot make waves or anything so i have to improvise. when the "tower" attacks the enemy it stops, does nothing, not even going on the path

Not sure what you mean, but do you mean “Varied Commodities”? That mod adds a bunch of non craftable items that you can use for your custom npcs

Hmm, is the model NPCGolem? Or something like that or like NPCVillager? Change it to it’s full name without the NPC tag model in it’s name. That should work

You can do that with natural spawns in the advanced and global tab

Hey, are they unable to climb ladders? My NPC won't follow me up a ladder.
I don’t think they can pathfind to climb ladders. But if you’re dealing with a follower, it should teleport to you after you’ve climbed a ladder and gotten enough distance away to prompt a teleport
@@Knightdream it never teleports to me. I tested it by getting in creative mode and flying a far distance away and it just walked the whole time until it hit a wall and started spinning. I'm in 1.16.5, is that why?
@@Knightdream like, whenever I climb a ladder, it'll stay at the bottom and when I move around above it in a different room, it'll still follow me but stay in the room below me.

Check to make sure the NPC is assigned to a faction that is neutral or hostile.
If the NPC is friendly, you cannot attack that NPC.

You would have to figure out how to combine spigot and forge together, however I don’t think that’s possible. You would have to use a forge server to do this mod with your friends

At this point in time, the latest one is 1.16.5 on July 7th.
The version is still good in my opinion since a lot of good mods are in that version of minecraft

I would also suggest to upgrade to 1.16.5 since that is the latest release. You can find that on the mod author's discord page

I’m not sure what that means. I would suggest updating to 1.16.5 since the mod is most likely more optimized than the 1.12 version. I would also suggest using the most downloaded version of the 1.12 versions of Custom NPC. Then it should be a lot more optimized and less likely to cause issues

I did do another video recently that involved talking about dialogs which I make an example of a banker and a trader using dialogues.

You can’t make your actual player an NPC. But! You can fake it by putting your player’s skin on an NPC. Then you can adjust the name to be what your minecraft username is. Then change the faction of it to be white so it looks like a player name above it’s head
How do you make people sit on the modded furnitures?
Ok tricky question there. As long as their is a custom hitbox where they can stand on the modded chair, they can sit in it.
If you go to the AI tab and go to movement, there will be an area (I think called animation, where you can make the NPC sit.
Then it will look like it’s sitting on a modded chair

If you want, try using the clone wand. Should be in the custom npc creative menu.
Use that to clone your npc temporarily to put on top of a modded chair. Then delete the original one
@@Wolf3yyy Oh right yeah! I'm not sure if I showed it off in the video, but I made it so there's an invisible NPC with 100 Resistance to knockback (it's ok if they die because it will give miners a break, just have to be careful where they respawn)
From there, their damage sounds is just mining a block? might be block break. Turn the NPC invisible, make them a faction that is hostile to the miner's faction, Preferably the miners have a faction different one than what village they are a part of so not all the guards charge after an invisible entity. (you can fix that by just making it so they attack invisible I think)
and there we go, makes it look like they are mining blocks

Maybe? Not sure. The mod author is working on the 1.16.5 version. He most likely isn’t working on the 1.14.4 version.

Careful there, that is a dangerous feature lol. Make sure whatever NPC you're wanting to do so on doesn't have a respawn timer, otherwise it will be pure mad chaos in your world. Should be a button in the global tab to spawn naturally
The spawner won't work, i cant place any npcs there. Any idea why it wont work?
Oh? Which version are you on? If I remember correctly, there's a bug with it in a version of custom npcs

@@Knightdream it turns out it was an issue with using a custom texture. I was using the "Slash" model and apparently its just bugged with the epicfights animation mod lol. Thanks for the reply though! I wouldn't have found the fix had you not convinced me to look more into it

Yes. The NPC needs to part of a faction that is hostile towards the player. Then they can attack the players
