I picked up my new Kia Seltos Sport a few days ago. So far I am extremely happy with the car. It looks great in person, drives like a dream and the infotainment system is class-leading in my opinion.
He never mentioned about the Bose speakers which are only available in the GT line trim. For some ppl, the speaker's audio quality is also very important.
Well kinda, except this is an Australian spec. I have noticed that even in Canada they didn't or don't get the same perks as the US model Souls. But personally I don't like the new Soul at all. I have an original 2010 and driving it till the wheels fall off. Lol. I think most of the SUV's are overrated. They have bulky exteriors with no more room in them than what my Soul has.
Two reasons for that: 1. The cars are much better and don’t need to compete on price now, 2. Korean economy got much stronger so exchange rates mean 1 Aussie dollar buys 30% fewer KRW than 10 years ago.
I am not Australian, but congrats on making a very informative, objective, well spoken review, the way you compared it to the Sportage is awesome as it helps us understand its dimensions.
I booked this car in 1.5L Diesel in India here 2 months waiting period for this car it's very popular and highly demanded mid size SUV right now in India 🇮🇳
Getting the Seltos sports plus 2wd at the end of the month. So excited.. test drove the base model on Monday. Love this car. I’ve had 2 Mazda’s and both have been exceptional.. so hopefully the Kia will not disappoint!
Why can't they just put a 6 or 8 speed regular auto in the turbo models? Getting sick of dcts in all these cars that will for 90% of ppl only be driven in the city.
It's the reason why I bought a Sport+ Cerato instead of the GT. DCT's are inherently flawed for a commuter application. I also avoided the SUV tax of the Seltos versus Cerato, $5K cheaper spec for spec (but I paid $7K less buying an "undriven demo").
@@MrBenHaynes I disagree, a 8kw advantage is not insignificant and will be noticeable as well as the improved response. Also for a car wearing the 'sport' badge the engine is anything but that.
The indian varient gets rear ac vent from the base model itself and full led from lights and fog lamps in all models except first 3 base models of ht line (5 models in ht line and 3 in gt line)
Great review - the only thing I really wanted was insight into cabin noise on highways/ at high speed? Overseas models have has lots of negative feedback about this.
Enjoyed the review just traded my Skoda in on the Sports Plus with CTV Seltos hopefully due in the next 3 weeks I hope the CTV is better and longlife compared to Skoda DSG
We get a petrol with a CVT, a turbo-petrol with a 7DCT and a diesel with a 6AT in India. We can also equip each of the engines with a 6MT! Kia is launching in India with this car, and they have gone all out with the engines and equipment. We have a better equipment spread in India, a lot of variants come with the full LED setup. Also i think its reasonable to have hard touch plastics on the base model, i don't know why auto journalists keep harping on about soft touch plastics.
It's odd that in the US you can get AWD with any model including the base for an additional $1500. Same powertrain options though. It would be easy for them to make an EV. Seltos is on the same platform as Kona. Personally I like it a lot. It's way more attractive than Kona IMO. I would go for the middle grade (sport) if in Australia. In the US I believe it's called LX but with AWD.
Can't wait for this to get to dealership in Boise, Idaho area. Just a bit more refined than the Kona which is now available but I think it will be worth the wait. Do you blokes know you're driving on the wrong side of the road...!!!
KIA Seltos rear Aircon vent blowing warm air when Aircon temperature is set at 25 degree celsius and outside environmental temperature is above 34 degree celsius, their service work shop claimed that is normal. During the visit on 26 Apr 2021, inspection was carried out on the vehicle’s Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning System; the values such as Ambient Temperature Sensor, Evaporator Temperature Sensor, photo sensor, In-car air temperature sensor and other related values that maintain the operation of the climatic air-conditioning system. We did not find any abnormalities in the values and all sensors and actuators are functioning normally and a diagnostic scan with the manufacturer’s diagnostic scanner did not report any diagnostic trouble codes. These data was also inspected and compared to 2 other similar vehicles and the performance was found to be similar and thus the vehicle’s air-conditioning system was judged to be operating normally. That's radiculous and sily.
Hopefully the sorrento goes with this look as well. It's a tough toss up between the two, this one looks amazing and better price point but man the sorrento has some feature and room
Just some small issues for me (no car is perfect), but even despite that, I believe ”this is the best KIA ever made” - for the price and very specific sub-segment it competes in I mean. I'm not saying that it is a winner in that segment, but it certainly is a top contender and a step up for KIA in many ways. Yup, KIA's are no longer cheap, and they even have pretty good handling now. How's the noise/refinement on long distance highway cruises? Anyway, It should do very well in countries where KIA price and spec them right, do some local suspension (& other) tuning, and especially where they have a good after-sales history/perception among the public.
iamDiao yes? And South Korea is far from a benchmark car manufacturer. As for Thailand, most of this countries best selling models come from there. The answer to your vague question is, yes.
Could be worse NZ spec models are $42,990 plus ORC 2.0 limited and $46,990 plus ORC 1.6T limited AWD, that is top of the range Toyota Rav4 pricing! The 2.5 lt Rav4 AWD Adventure (Top spec) is just $2k more at $48,990 and much bigger better equipped including all around camera and electric hatch.
Great looking car I have test drove the Seltos Sport and found it to be a great car. I'm in shock the Kia think the $15,000 between the base model and the GT is acceptable. $44,000 for the GT? I can buy the base RAV4 GX Hybrid AWD for $43,000 or the 2WD Hybrid GXL for $43,000. IMO Anyone thinking of buying the GT please do yourself a favour and have a look at the RAV4 better motor car in every way.
I'm confused which one to get? Price is going to be the main driver. Under $30k is all you want to spend on this as a second car. Wheels look cheap on S and Sports variant. S plus is the right fit but over $30k.
It's the Kia Kona, well it uses the Kona underpinnings at least. I think it's a more attractive vehicle, Seltos that is. Same powertrains except Kona has a standard trans with the 2.0 (US)😉. I wouldn't at all be surprised if not only an electric but also a hybrid model would be released in the future. Kona has great range for a EV and a hybrid is slated for release soon. Kia/Hyundai could easily adapt those to the Seltos.

Hyundai Venue is crap compared to the Kia seltos.
I’d like to see you compare Haval H6 vs Sportage vs Holden equinox as I’m sure you’ll find Haval H6 quite a contender
Note📝 the Proton X50👍👍, a strong contender in the same (hot🔥) B-segment SUV category - vs the Seltos, CX-3, Captur, 2008, Juke, Kona, Kicks, T-Roc, T-Cross, Vitara, Venue, Puma, Toyota Raize & Daihatsu Rocky aka Feroza (Perodua Kembara in Malaysia).

Geely's will be redesigned as Protons for the RHD markets in this region, and possibly in other countries later. The Proton X70 based on the Geely Boyue, has doing very well in Malaysia.

The CVT is excellent as well.
What a let down. Looks great but it came with all the crap other manufacturers are ditching - DCT & CVT
Kia great value for money in USA. But resale and safe when I had them felt cheap
Entry level you get a box with 4 wheels on it
