Alternatively you Make Weevil Insanely Powerful, Remember when Weevil played Berserker Insect and DRAW! MONSTA CARDO'd! like 12 insects in a row Overkilling that Yugi Character. Probably my favourite episode of Wee-Vil-Oh!
To humanize weevil for the part of throwing the exodia cards off the boat you could have him holding the cards, in his mind going back and forth about trashing them or not. he decides to give them back when the wind catches the cards taking off the boat. now both him and joey jump in the water and get saved after. making this more of an accident. Now yugi still thinks of weevil as a bad guy because he believe that the act was done on purpose.
When you mentioned a possible fusion between Insect Queen and Dark Magician. Why not something like, "Hive Mind Magician." Or, "Magician of the Swarm." A dark insect spellcaster type monster with the effect. While this card remains face up on the field, all insect type monsters gain 200 attack points. During the end phase, if a spell card has been played, special summon 1 insect monster token in defense mode for each spell card played. Or something to that effect.
But yeah, Wee-Vil-Oh would 100% have Rex Raptor and maybe Mako as secondary characters and Weevil's main team/clique. Maybe for Rex's friendship invent a card that's sort of a Jurassic Park reference with the mosquito in the amber that lets Insects count as Dinosaurs for special effects and for Rex a Dinosaur/Insect monster like a meganeura and stuff
ooh, and for Mako tag teams what is commonly put on hooks to fish...fish? Flies of course! Or worms. Still bugs to the layman. And I'm sure there's water-borne insects. Maybe a water strider that ignores the sea field power and doesn't drown?
@@mistery8363 I was just thinking rex could be like Weevil's Joey, but I love adding mako too. He could be like the big brother of the group who maybe inspires weevil to get better.
@@mistery8363 Maybe also give them a joint ritual monster or some kinda fusion. Like if wanna get crazy maybe fuse legendary fisherman with Great Moth. Or maybe turtle crab as a metaphor for how crustaceans are the insects of the ocean.
"Duelists are like insects. There are many types. Some are weak, some are strong. Some can fly and reach the heavens, while others stay in the dirt. But there's one thing that unites them all. They all have the potential to evolve! I equip my cocoon of evolution onto Rex's Red eyes!" Weevil and Rex vs Dartz
I'd imagine there'd be a special monster made just for this interaction. In fact, here's one (balanced around modern day Yu-Gi-Oh) "Perfectly Ultimate Draconic Moth" Level 12 - DARK/Insect/Fusion 3400ATK/2800DEF "Red Eyes B. Dragon" & 2 Insect type monsters Must first be fusion summoned or special summoned from the extra deck by sending 1 "Red-eyes Black Dragon" equipped with "Cocoon of Evolution" to the graveyard (in which case you do not use polymerization). This card gains attack equal to the combined attack of all Insect type monsters on the field. When this monster is destroyed, special summon 1 "Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth" from your hand, deck or graveyard, ignoring it's summoning conditons. (This card is always treated as a "Red-eyes" monster)
I always felt bad for Rex. He gets roped in as a villain for pretty much just being introduced alongside Weevil. He's cocky, sure, but he's overall a good sport. He honors his bet to give Joey Red-Eyes, and even tries to warn Joey about going up against Espa Roba after he loses. And that's another thing. Espa is publicly outed as a cheater, and yet Rex doesn't get his locator card or his Seprent Night Dragon back. And Roba gets to keep playing! I get that Rex couldn't get Jinzo, but he should have at least been made whole. Or at least, Roba could have given him his card back to help show he learned his lesson. But no. Rex is just cheated out of his possessions, and then he becomes a designated villain.
@@rickyl3819 Yeah that always bugged me too; Ryuzaki (Rex) absolutely should have demanded his rare card back from Roba at the very least, if not have been re-added back into the Battle City tournament by Mokuba (regardless of whether or not he'd even become a finalist). Dude got hardcore gypped.
@@Intrepid_Explorer Thinking back on it, other than possibly Mako (if you don't count using food to lure out duelists or using weapons), and Ghost Kaiba (if you don't count using cards that aren't his), Rex is the only competitor in Duelist Kingdom that Yugi and Joey play that doesn't cheat in at least some fashion. Weevil: Throws cards into the ocean Mai: Marks cards with perfumes to pretend to be psychic. Mako: Debatable. Seems to lure duelists with fish but doesn't seem to cheat during actual gameplay. He does throw a spear at Yugi and company though, and I think that should probably count. Ghost Kaiba: Plays completely fair, but with a deck that isn't his. Actually gets cheated out of the win due to Kaiba. Rex: Completely fair. Doesn't cheat in or out of the game. Panik: Kidnaps duelists to force them to play, and uses fire and restraints to intimidate opponents. Bonz: Kidnaps duelist and takes outside advice. Para and Dox: Duel mostly fair, if in an unorthodox fashion, but intend to rig their maze riddle. The mostly fair qualifier is that they don't explain the rules fully. Kaiba: Threatens suicide. That said, I'm pretty sure he would have won without resorting to this. Bandit Keith: Hides cards in his wristbands to draw whenever he needs. Steals Joey's Glory of the King's Hand card to both be allowed to play and disqualify Joey. Also brings in multiple decks to play instead of just one. And stole the star chips he needed to get into the castle in the first place. Pegasus: Reads minds. Steals souls. So yeah. Mai gets redeemed despite being a cheater, and Espa Roba and Joey leave on good terms despite his cheating, but Rex is treated as a bad guy, even though he never did anything wrong prior to the Orichalcos arc. Téa is more upset about seeing him than she is about seeing Mako, a guy who threw a spear at her and her friends.
I always thought of how their characters ended up after the series. Personally, I would see weevil doubling down on his schemes and becomes even worse while Rex ends up leaving Weevil and tries to genuinely improve and simply wants an honest duel with Joey that could end in a draw.
That could actually work. Syrus has a visible arc throughout the series of him rising the ranks and becoming stronger and less whiny (Possibly because of trauma, if we're being honest), someone that can stand up against his brother and those that clash against him, like that Jinzo guy, Makoto.
It’d be very funny to watch him floodgate everyone with Insect Barrier and DNA Surgery. Imagine watching Dartz just getting fed up and scooping because his infinite attack Divine Serpent can’t do squat.
Dartz could survive that if he has Orichalcos Tritos cause that stops spells and trap from doing anything to his monsters but if he doesn't then yeah he's screwed.
"Well yeah man, you can only summon it through effect and you need to keep this useless POS alive for 5 turns when single tribute Summoned Skull just torches that thing. It's absolutely a miracle you got it on the board"
Personally, I could love to see you give Rebecca Hawkins and/or Mai Valentine a good try for this format. But a Mako one would be interesting as well. For a random idea for a video topic: "How would Waking the Dragons arc play out in GX?" Basically, remove the DM cast and use the GX crew to handle Doma.
I can see weevil having a comedic story of him having to claw his way back to the top after his lose against Yugi and Joey. Probably going on adventures with Rex being a the pinkie to his brain.
weevil: rex, are you pondering what i'm pondering rex: yes, why are beetroppers based off beetles but are called beetroopers weevil: no rex, we are going to take over.......a large apartment complex there rexie, their rexit and weevil
One of my favorite bits in the anime is when in a tag duel both duelists fuse or otherwise combine their cards from completely different archetypes together to create something new and probably BS monster . Here’s my idea for the scene you theorized against Leon. It’s actually Dark Magician Girl on the field with Insect Queen when Yugi draws Polymerization. He fuses them both into “Royal Insect Sorceress” and it’s random anime effect is it can special summon 1 spellcaster and 1 insect monster from the graveyard. Yugi resurrects Dark Magician and Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth, and attacks with all 3 to end the duel, all of their boss monsters working together.
I think W is one of the biggest wasted potentials in the originial series. I like him and Rex's story about slowly losing there fame and becoming nobodies. It's a shame that only Rex's feelings about this were only explored in the 4th season.
Conceptually, I do really like the idea that Weevil embraces cheating because he perceives Yugi has unfair advantages. He does the Exodia thing, he feels bad about it because Joey almost gets hurt, then he sees Dark Yugi and how he can draw whatever card he needs randomly and doubles down, only to accidentally get Joey caught in the crossfire AGAIN of his effort to bring down this potentially evil force. That's some real pathos right there!
Rex (who's now from Brooklyn and still has his Red-Eyes): Yo Weev', I lost mah Red-Eyes to dis cweepy caped guy, nyeh" Weevil: "Say no more. Hey you, Rare Hunter, let's duel!" Rex: "Be vewy cawful, he uses Exodia, nyeeeeh" Weevil: "You know what, Rare Hunter? Let's not duel here, I want to duel you at the pier. For... the nice view, yeah, that's it. Oh, and of course we cut and shuffle each other's decks... you know, because it's common sense to ensure decks are shuffled fairly, that's the only reason"
Just before the final duel between him and Yugi, Weevil gives him back the exodia cards, revealing he used the prize money they split after winning the tournament to fund an expedition in the ocean to find them culminating in the last shot where Yugi assembles him for the second time.
This is fan-fic and I'm all for it! I feel like Insect Queen was like the only "Good" (In the anime it's considered good) cards in his pile of junk playing against the bully and he had a real heart-of-the-cards moment. Maybe a classmate gave it to him as one of the few acts of kindness he had ever received during that time. Also, there needs to be Rex arcs. Rex is Weevil's Kaiba I feel like in this fan-fic. Rex is probably his first true friend, but because he doesn't know what friendship is he realizes it much later (probably after the oricalcos arc. That seems appropriate)
I think a version where Rex Raptor was the main character could be really interesting as well. Like how he realizes what a toxic influence Weevil is and tries to cut him off, only to later realize that Weevil is more a damaged and scared individual and tries to reach out again and steer him into the right direction, like in Wee-Vil-Oh. We could call it Yu-Di-No.
Rex deserves a solo arc, even a redemption arc. He was the only original "antagonist" that didn't cheat. He was just a little too arrogant. Plus, he literally lost every on-screen duel, including the one-off character Espa Roba and having to hand over his Serpent Knight Dragon which was the last of his strong dragon cards until Tyrant. He, along with Weevil lose their souls and gain them back twice in the same season. So I picture a scenario where Rex discovers the Transcendosaurus archetype (Since they all involve Normal Dinosaur monsters and 'dying' but being able to come back), making amends with Joey, being true respected rivals and having a real rematch with no souls on the line. I think it would have also been nice if in Waking the Dragons, him and Mai had some form of interaction since if not for her, he probably never would have dueled Joey and they both joined Dartz' crew.
Maybe have a full proper Weevil vs Rex rematch after the DOMA arc but before KC. Rex originally suggests it to help cheer him up and mirrors the beginning. Weevil starts to have fun, regrets what he became and the two hash out their feelings as only true duelists can, by duelling their hearts out. It's only after the duel, he realises that he didn't cheat or pull anything underhanded for the first time in a long time.
Tetsu Trudge should get a video. He appeared in season 0, a flashback in Duel Monsters, you see his name listed for duelists that are still alive in GX, and he appears in 5Ds, so you have a lot of potential for him. This is also not counting the instances where you see an unnamed character that's made to look like him in later series.
"Say Goodbye to your precious Exodia!" "Say Goodbye to your precious UEB!" "Say Goodbye to your precious Relinquished!" "Say Goodbye to your precious Winged Dragon!" And so on.
Two of my favorite YUGIOH channels bring something good almost at the same time. Thanks. As an insect duelist, I would start a little differently for Weevil underwood Season 0. His parents called him Haga (Winged Moth) so that he would strive for the light and have a better life. Coming from a poor background and growing up quite small, he was of course quickly the target of ridicule and teasing. At some point Hagan got hold of an old book about insects. He started collecting insects. An exchange student from Spain found out about it by chance and showed interest in Haga's collection. But as it turned out, it was only to take it away from him. He wanted to use the collection as a sacrifice in insect fights. Together with his friends, he organized bets on the fights. [An old PC games magazine once said that some people had taken inspiration from the fact that in their childhood, captured insects fought against each other (similar to cockfighting).] Hagan tried to get his collection back, but the much larger Spaniard just laughed at him as "El gusano peleón" (the fighting worm). Haga would have lost the fight without a doubt if a moth hadn't escaped and flown into the Spaniard's face. Haga managed to knock his opponent over. The Spaniard fell against the insect container, which broke. Due to the injuries and the terror of the many insects crawling all over him, the exchange student didn't come to school anymore. Rumors spread and for a while no one dared to annoy Hagan anymore. One student even gave him a card out of fear. Haga's first insect monster. Others who saw it believed it was a kind of protection money and were only too willing to give him one of their weak insect cards. He remembered how panicked his opponent had reacted to the insects and saw an opportunity. He didn't bring being strong or having friends. When others are afraid of you, you can achieve a lot with fear. He started to get a beetle-themed outfit and called himself "Weevil". It worked and with his insect cards (which weren't all that weak when you put them together) he earned stronger cards. He then used these to face professional players in order to get money. PS: The moth also represents death and rebirth. After the death of the protective personality Weevil through the seal, Haga could come back into the spotlight.
I'd say the climactic battle would have Dark Magician Girl and Insect Queen combine into Dark Magician Queen, and gets an attack bonus for every spellcaster and insect in the various Graveyards. Just make it a crazy big boss monster.
I'd love your take on what if Atem was taken by the seal of orichalcos instead of Yugi. Lot of story potential there and questions like would he use some of his own cards before the final duel, would he be able to summon Timeus ? It seems likely as he also pulled out his sword and summoned him outside a duel. And when he eventually reunites with Aten there would be more of a moral dilemma as last he saw he gave into darkness.
"Play your last feeble bug Weevil!" "My tournament deck has no feeble bugs Kaiba, but it does have the unstoppable Bugxodia." "W-what?!" "Bugxodia! Infestation!"
I would love if this became a regular part of the channel. I honestly think main character Mai Valentine could be fun or if that Freaky Fish Guy was main that could also be a blast.
Honestly? I think out of the characters in the show. I feel like Mako Tsunami would make for probably the more interesting story. His whole story, atleast from what i remember is "I'm trying to find my father so I was trying to win the million dollars to buy a boat to go out looking for him". I feel like the whole story could be him entering tournaments in an attempt to get a boat, eventually losing sight of his goal during battle city as he begins working at an Aquarium and has to be reminded by Joey that his father is out there somewhere (or you can have it that Mako loses interest in dueling and decides to give up on his goals and Joey has to remind him through a duel). The end would be him either finding out the truth of what happened to his dad, or finding his father and having a happy ending.
You can do it pretty easily now with Cocoon of Ultra evolution. Tribute any insect equipped with an equip card, pull any insect from the deck ignoring summoning conditions. Can even do it with your opponents cards with Parasite Paranoid. And it’s very fun to pull off.
I think you missed a nice and small moment between Weevil and Mai during the Orichalcos saga. The two have officially joined the Orichalcos side, and they have a rare moment to talk. Weevil learns that Mai is feeling down because although she's done really well in all of these tournaments, people just want to see Yugi, Joey, and Kaiba. Weevil opens up to her that Yugi and Joey have pretty much been the reason why his life has taken such a downward spiral and, like her, he wants revenge on them. It'd be a small moment, but seeing that Mai and Weevil don't even talk to each other at all in the series, it might be an interesting little scene.
You know, nobody's ever brought up the fact that they mention in the show that the Kingdom will have different dueling rules. So that means potentially, outside of the island, the rules in normal duels or Regional championships, etc maybe had closer rules to the real world game or even Battle City.
There’s some good potential for some bug-themed character growth for Weevil here: Duelist Kingdom (The Cocoon Arc): Weevil is a boy with great dueling potential who idolizes insects for their ability to grow and change into something more magnificent. He could parallel himself to his moth cards, declaring that once he was a Petit Moth but through tact and skill has entered the dueling world as Larvae Moth, a creature just beginning its rise to greatness. But he needs to protect himself. He has only won a single regional championship, and there are beasts like the dragon Kaiba who would snap him up, crush him, or simply disregard his tiny larval form. He must prepare and change into something greater, an insect that even the dragons fear. He attempts to weave his cocoon during Duelist Kingdom, giving himself every advantage by hampering his competitors (discarding Exodia) and picking the best environment for his metamorphosis (finding the Forest field power bonus stage). And yet, despite all his preparation and defenses, his metamorphosis is thwarted. His cocoon is burst far too soon, both literally in the duel and as a metaphor for him being taken out of the tournament in the first round). He struggles and tries to make the most of what he’s become so far, but he is felled by an archfiend, a being of darkness who strikes down his ambitions when they were just barely getting off the ground. Weevil retreats. Battle City (The Moth and Queen Arc): After licking his wounds from the defeat at Duelist Kingdom, Weevil redoubles his efforts to achieve his metamorphosis. He changes his look and his strategy, and yet deep down…he is still afraid. He once again resorts to an underhanded tactic with the Parasite card, trying to make sure his defenses can’t be breeched this time. And for a moment, he succeeds! In his duel against Joey, the moth appears in all its greatness. This is it, his true form, the card with greater attack than the Blue-Eyes White Dragon, the insect even the dragons fear! But…he still loses. His finalized form is felled midway into the duel and he has to switch to another strategy, one he’s begun to hone but hasn’t mastered. Like a game of chess, he protects his king by sending out his queen to fell his foes, and in doing so, the queen is captured. He became his greatest form, but it still wasn’t enough, and now he’s lost a part of himself. Waking the Dragons (The Butterfly Arc): Having once again lost it all, Weevil resorts to a new tactic. If the moth wasn’t enough, he’d find a new metamorphosis, one he could inflict on those who hurt him. By submitting to the Oricalcos, he is given access to the Swarm and Poison strategy, one that focuses on using once weak but now empowered insects like Leguhl to needle his foes while gestating the new boss of his deck, the Poison Butterfly. The Poison Butterfly is the inversion of his moth. While he once sought to transform himself into something greater, with this, he can transform his opponents into something that poisons them. If he can’t rise, he’ll make them fall. And this is his greatest mistake. He pokes at Yugi at the worst time possible through the tactic that would most greatly affect him. The dark being he’d faced in Duelist Kingdom now comes at him full-force, and Weevil presumably meets his end. Kaiba Grand Prix (The True Metamorphosis Arc): But this isn’t Weevil’s end. He wakes up in the hospital, and he doesn’t wake up alone. Looking over at the hospital bed next to his, he sees Rex, and for the first time, he realizes something. Rex and Weevil have interacted through every season, from their meeting at the championships before Duelist Kingdom where they are rivals, to their time together basking in their fame, to their tenuous partnership through a mutual desire to grow and transform into something greater in the Oricalcos army. Weevil has always focused on himself, on changing himself into something stronger or on destroying his enemies. But now, he’s begun to realize, the power of insects isn’t always due to the size and strength of one, but through the cooperation of the many. Ants, bees, mites: the insect kingdom is filled with those whom find strength in numbers. In fact, the characters he’s opposed (Yugi and Joey) are constantly talking about the strength of their friendship and the power it gives them. And so, he and Rex team up. They join forces against Zigfried in what I believe is the only tag duel in the season, and well…it doesn’t go the best. They lose and lose hard, but this doesn’t stop them. This was only their first try, and even then, they saw the potential in how dueling together made them better, both getting out their boss monsters immediately. They keep at it off-screen, honing their skills individually and as a pair. Their cards are retrained, Weevil’s focused on the metamorphosis he once coveted but never understood until now. They rise back from the bottom, making each other stronger and taking on foes with tact and strength in tandem. In the end, they join the tag dueling world, facing foes like Para and Dox, Mai and Vivian Wong, and they hope one day…Yugi and Joey for their first honorable rematch.
Do not forget the last frames from japan version of anime where we got Weevil vs Rex and also (Par&Dox vs Mai and Vivian). So story can end with duel woth his old friend/rival Rex
This was actually pretty interesting. Sure, Weevil bugs me, but that's also why some details had to be changed for the video to make sense. I'd like to see more videos like this though, especially for more likable characters. What-if hypotheticals are fun to consider.
Instead of them fusing Dark Magician and Insect Queen, maybe this is how Weevil gets his metomorphized via a card yugi plays that transforms weevil's queen into her more powerful self also would LOVE to see a rex as the main character where he forgives joey
Chazz has a really strong case to be the main character. He starts out as a snobby rich kid who has whatever he's ever wanted given to him. He's actually really good at dueling too and is a highly regarded Obelisk Blue student. Things are going well until some nobody named Jaden shows up to the exams and beats Crowler. Chazz can't accept that one of the strongest duelists in Duel Academy just lost to a nobody. He grows more resentful of Jaden when he finds out that Jaden struggles academically and often skips or sleeps during class. He challenges Jaden but to his horror, he too loses. Thus begins Chazz's rise from Chazz to The Chazz!
I would love to see this turned into a series with the side characters finishing with modernized versions of their new decks! I think the side characters that come to mind would be Espa, Mako, Pegasus, Rebecca, and maybe Duke. And, if this does become a thing, I really want to see one with Joey as the MC (even if he is already basically a deuteragonist). :]
0:55 Goblin Slayer does this. You have the story that we're following of this group of people hunting goblins but on occasion we get glimpses of another (more successful party) killing demon lords and bringing peace to the realm. But theyre not the main characters
This reminds me of when I played Legacy of the duelist I would sometimes challenge myself to only play through the main story using all the decks of one character - as LotD would have multiple Joey decks or whatever - kind of a "what if" scenario
A little surprised it hasn't been brought to your attention why Weevil has his Insect Queen in the comments of your Yugi Vs. Weevil analysis, so I'll mention it here. When Weevil & Rex joined Dartz & his group, Dartz took them to a room full of cards, pretty much any card you can think of due to him owning his own company to make money to fund his schemes, and said "Here. Use these to beef up your decks. Just no Egyption Gods. I need those for something else." Hence why Weevil has his Insect Queen back and possibly how Rex got his Tyrant Dragon.
I’d actually change it to have Yugi cheer Weevil on instead of joining him in the Duel. And with a last heart of the cards draw, Weevil wins the Duel, but goes onto lose to Yugi in the final match, finally squashing their beef and starting to become friends.
Personally I always felt like Bonz got done dirty. He got beaten up by his boss and cheated out of duelist kingdoms. Then the next time we see him he gets sent to the shadow realm. With how zombies got incredibly popular in yugioh. I feel like he could have been a good protagonist. Maybe focusing around Skull servants and king of the skull servants. Plus there’s also some sympathy you can give Bonz since people kept picking on him for how he looked. I’d love it if you did a Bonz Gi Oh!
The final arc is him scouring the waters around Pegasus' island and somehow getting all of the pieces of Exodia back then having the ultimate revenge duel against his rival. He draws four of five pieces at start, he's confident he's got this! Then he gets ftk somehow or gets his hand destroyed, or he's forced to swap hands and somehow the opponent draws the last piece.
Is it actually confirmed that no one else has Exodia cards? I know Kaiba says no one has ever summoned him before but that doesn't mean that no one else has any of the cards.
@@danielzakgaim2764 Remember, he had a full playset of each Exodia piece in his deck. If only one copy of the 5 pieces existed, his deck would have been flagged as illegal the moment the duel disk identified a second copy of any of the pieces. The pieces may be rare cards, but there are others out there.
I don't remember anyone ever saying there was only one of each, I always thought it was just that the cards were so rare that nobody has ever been able to bring them together in a deck, let alone activate their instant-win effect.
I feel like the way Weevil was treated after Duelist Kingdom can be a mc backstory on its own. People suddenly don't care how many duels you won or titles you had after you lose a single time in Yugioh's world. He power trips during/prior to DK, gets humiliated after, and uses the chance to improve himself instead of continuing to be a joke.
If you're looking for more bonkers "What if?" ideas, I'd love to see you tackle these two: Whaf in Panik became a good guy after Duelist Kingdom? Basically, Panik becomes like Duke Devlin, a character who bested one Yugi's friends, and who then was defeated by Yugi for their sake. And because he got Mind Crushed by Yugi, all the evil in him got released, like with Kaiba. Panik could even fight his own evil gay clown, if you wanted. Scenario 2: What if Yugi died/got sent to the Shadow Realm in the double duel against Lumis and Umbra? In the anime, the duel ends when Yugi has 500 life points left and on Kaiba's turn. However, Mask of Dispell is still in effect. After Lumis' turn ends and Yugi's begins, Mask of Dispell would take 500 life points from Yugi, meaning he's at 0. Bomb goes off, and bye-bye Yugi. Turn passes to Kaiba, who wins the duel. So what happens to Slifer, Marik's plan, and the rest of Battle City?
A series where the MC has an insect deck would be pretty cool actually. Insects are always like early one-off monster of the week decks and protagonists never use them, except for a single performapal.
id love to see this for more characters, like tea for example. we saw her beat joey casually in school in duel monsters, but she wouldnt just become a full on duelist there, but after her win vs mai at duelist kingdom, I could see a slight story shift where Tea decides she will join in battle city since she believes she can be helpful to yugi and the others by being an actual duelist.
I would LOVE to see Tea take up dueling with a Fairy/Spellcaster deck. I could easily see her play around with Dark Magician Girl and the flavor magicians from DSOD.
Evil bakura becomes a protagonist seeking to destroy the millennium items with the necklace trying to make sure nobody else's use millennium items. In his journey giving more confidence to bakura and in the end they would duel the pharaoh to free the souls from the millennium items
I would say there's definitely more could be done with Weevil/Haga than what was done in canon just like the anime did with Mai's character, because I read a short fanfiction with him as the main character post the end of the original series. Not sure if it followed manga or anime continuity though. In that fanfiction, he is still an obnoxious egomaniac who like to flaunt around his 'superior intelligence'. But he is actually a pretty fun guy to be around with people who he consider to be smart enough to hang around him, and he genuinely loves all kind of insects. Funny enough, he actually had a duel with Yugi once he learnt about Atem and thought he got cheated because he didn't know he was dueling against an ancient magical pharaoh, and he narrowly beat Yugi in a fair duel in the end (especially funny if this is the manga continuity with the movie where Kaita lost to Yugi, not Atem). But in the end when Yugi ask Haga if he wants take the title as the new king of games, Haga graciously annouce his retirement from being a duelist and decided to focus on become an insect researcher.
For Metamorphosed Insect Queen you can change the effect to you must have an insect queen in your GY to summon it, but because Joey had it he couldn't use it. So after he sacrifices insect queen to save Yugi he can bring it out and give it to Yugi to win the duel as he apologizes for everything and then passes out
It's dumb how dirty they did Mai. Weevil and Rex are ultimately low tier duelists, at least compared to our main cast, but they are top duelists ultimately, same as Mai, who defeats (offscreen) Rex, which then Mai goes on to LOSE to Tea... I know the 1st or 2nd episode showed that she dabbled in Duel Monsters... But like, to defeat Mai, c'mon.
I think it would be cool if Weevile gave Yugi a piece of exodia (he went into the ocean after Joey off-screen) and tells him to find the last piece. The one piece.
Very fascinating video! Watching it made me think of a couple things that would make Weevil's arc progress even more in this direction. 1: Make the original Insect Queen more of a negative influence on Weevil. Since he got it after losing to Yugi, maybe he was led to believe it was a powerfup card that would give him everything he needed to win, but his insecurity leads him to cheat anyways. Losing Insect Queen at this point leads him to his lowest, which ties in nicelt to the Legendary Dragons arc. Then, when Joey offers it back, he instead declines saying that he doesn't need it anymore, and somehow stumbles into ownership of its new form. 2: Leverage his relationship with his partner in crime, Rex more! They both start scheming together after battle city when they're at their lowest. Maybe through that time, they develop a genuine bond, and at the end Weevil realizes he made the true friend he's always wanted! Just my thoughts after watching, but very enjoyable video! Thank you as always for putting out content so passionate about Yugioh!
I think one that'd be really fun to do (I'm definitely not biased on, don't read my name) is what if they stuck with the original plan of Crow Hogan being the main bad guy in the 5Ds Dark Signer arc? He could get some kind of Kalin-esque post story.
I just realized that season 1 Yugi's deck may not have had consistency but it did have a theme. You mentioned that it had magicians, dragons, demons, elves, etc. What else has those things? Medieval Fantasy. That is his deck's theme, a medieval fantasy deck
maybe id add during the orichalcos fight with yugi, weevil realizes that he was becoming just like the bullies he was facing at the start of his journey and idk has a last moment and leaves yugi something to either lead back to dartz or help conquer the seal's evil in his heart
A great moment that could happen in the Leon duel would be if Stromberg is activated when Weevil has a huge advantage. Stromberg forces him to attack with everything, and say that it would result in him taking enough damage to lose the duel. Then Weevil does some combo with an anime-original card that lets him activate a card one of his cards, placing it on his opponent's field, and he activates Insect Barrier, preventing his own monsters from attacking and buy time.
Honestly, they need to give Mokuba his redemption arc where he's playing modern day yugioh with Blue eyes support and access to Magia to represent his brother
I would've LOVED a fusion between Insect Queen and Dark Magician! Imagine the number of different things you could do with that! Id like the fusion to have more 'Insect' and 'Queen' elements with a little sprinkle of Magic, rather than "New flavor of Dark Magician." I have no idea what the name should be, but it shouldn't be too "on the nose." Its effect though, I can already imagine it. As a quick effect, it can tribute a monster on your side of the field and gain attack equal to the tributed monsters' attack. I wanted to make it a quick effect so you could do it during the battle phase. You could attack with the monster before tributing it and attacking with the fusion, or if your opponent targets that monster, you could tribute it before the effect resolves. To be both an aggressive offense or an intriguing form of protection.
From what I looked up, the character 友 is pronounced as "Yu" and translates to "friend," and the kanji キ means "insect, bug" and is pronounced as "ki." I therefore insist that we pun this series "Yu-Ki-Oh" or "The Friendly Bug King!" It also works really well too because one of the common playstyles of insect decks is a large colony working together to survive as a strong unit. Even if some are fodder for sacrifice or to spread a plague, everyone has a purpose and when working as a team, it all adds up to an unbreakable force of will carried by trust and determination!
One of my favorite youtube channels here. The personality, editing style, and quality of the content is so awesome. Just had to leave a comment on this video for the algorithm!
if you did one for mako, i think a funny story line would be for some time after joey beats him in battle City and takes the legendary fisherman, in some kind of big rematch, mako is fighting against joey. it's the championships or something. and in the middle of their duel, a man bursts into the match talking about how he's looking for his son that he lost at sea many years ago. and how he heard about a great duelist that's using the legendary fisherman, and he thinks that the duelist must be his son as he gave him the card before they were separated years ago. so he ends up thinking Joey is his long lost son. but in the end they all figure out that his son is actually mako, and they finally get to be reunited
I would personally go the opposite direction with Weevil and lean into his scummyness. As a kid Weevil was the best student in school. He was praised by everyone around him. His teachers his parents and he could not be more popular. However all of this was gained through underhanded means. Weevil was only getting such good grades because he was cheating on all his tests and people in school only liked him because he was sharing the answers with them. Even his spot in the reagonal championship was unfairly gained because he secretly placed his trap card in his jacket to pull out againts Rex in the final match. Weevil had goten everything he ever wanted by lying, cheating, and scheming. He felt like he was on top of the world. Like he cracked the code to life but that all would soon change. After losing to Yugi in Dulist kingdom and being sent home he was greeted with scorn from his parents. The school had found out sombody was selling the answers to the tests to other students, and one of them admited that Weevil was the one doing it. He was mortified, his parents were furious and his school expeled Weevil immediately. After being admited to a new school and his parents now keeping a closer eye on him Weevil found himself unable to make friends. His condensing and show offish personality was not appreciated by his new schoolmates and unable to get a hold of answers to tests anymore Weevil's grades started to plummet. Weevil was completely distraught. His life seemingly crumbling around him. That is until he got an invitation to battle city. He thought this was his chance to turn everything around, to reclaim some of what he lost, and to get revenge on yugi for booting him from dulist kingdom. However his parents forbid him to participate in tbe tournament. They told him he was still being punished for all the cheating he did in school but Weevil didn't care. If he could win this tournament he would have everything he could want. So he snuck out and went to the tournament after preparing his deck and various sneaky schemes to defeat his greatest opponents. He thought he would be unstoppable as long as he didn't get caught this time but as we all know his time in batyle city was short lived. Weevil was terrified to go home but he had nowhere else to go and the moment he opened the door he immediately was met with the fury of his parents. They were so worried about where Weevil could be but all Weevil could see was how furious they were at him for disobeying them, and so as punishment they not only grounded Weevil indefinitely but they also ripped his dueldisk away and tore up all his cards. The rest of the show continues as normal with Weevil befriending Rex through their shared desire for revenge and the want to be back at the top Weevil eventualy joins the Otichalcos planing to use them to defeat Yugi but secretly intending to betray them afterwards and be hailed all over the world as a hero for saving humanity from this evil cult. However as we all know he is deafeated by Yugi, however where this story differs is that when his soul is taken by the seal Dartz taunts Weevil say that he saw right through Weevil's plan and only let Weevil join because he knew Weevil was too pathetic and weak to be any sort of threat. Weevil is the swalloed up by the datkness and is traped is a silent empy void left to contemplate his life choices realizing that he really was pathetic. Weevil didn't know how to do anything but cheat. All his accomplishments in life were fake and he could barely keep up in school. All of his life amounted to nothing and now he could do nothing but cry about it. That is until Yugi and the gang deafeated Dartz and returned everyones souls to them. Weevil wakes up in the hospital with Rex but then sees his parents. They had traveled all the way from Japan once they had recived the call that Weevil was found in Amercia. Weevil was terrified. What were they going to do this time? How angry were they? So many fears were racing through Weevil's head but then before he could utter a single word. Weevil's mother and father embraced him. They cried while holding him as tight as could while telling them how much they loved him and how scared hey were that they may never have seen their son again. Weevil could only respond by bursting into tears, hugging his parents, and finally telling them how sorry he was. Not just for running away, not just for worrying them, not just for being a cheater, but for being a bad son. It was at this moment Weevil's heart changed and he realized the error of his ways, but also he realized he could change. Weevil began to work hard at studying. He also played duel monsters fairly. Realizing that if he loses he could use it as an opportunity to grow and learn. He also made new friends by teaching them how to duel. His parents were so proud of the young man Weevil was turning into and though Weevil never truly became THE top dulist again once places like duel acadamy opened up Weevil decided to become a teacher to show people how this game can bring people together. Though while he was liked by his students everyone was terrified of mr Weevil because if you cheated in his class..... well let's just say you'll wish you had just gotten expelled. I skiped his appearance in the 5th season because I just didn't feel like incorporating it.
I feel like TGS Anime has been watching too many of those "I was Reincarnated as a Background Character" anime/manga stories. Not that I'm complaining.
This was a very interesting video TGS Anime! For a future video could you make a “What if Rex Raptor was the main character in Yugioh?” Honestly if it wasn’t for Weevil, I really think Rex and Joey would’ve been friends. Rex always played fair and his only flaw was hanging out with Weevil.
I think it would be nice for Weevil plan the Exodia thing, but gets doubts last second and gives up, but due to strong winds or something he drops the exodia cards, Joey jumps into the sea and Weevil decides to get help, but by the point he finds a crewmate, Joey and Yugi are saved and they think Weevil didn't care about about anything. Their anger doesn't make them listen his atempts to apology, he loses and comits to the evil persona leading to the rest.
I am a big fan of "what if" type stories like this. admittedly I don't know much about the anime outside of what I've learned from your videos... but I think maybe Blue Angel could be an interesting protagonist if she didn't have as many "the plot made her lose" moments regardless of who gets protagonistified... I'd love to see more of these
Hey man! Love the video! Would you consider making a video on what cards the winners of Battle city duels earn in duels where no cards was claimed? Example: What card would Joey get from Odion or what card would Yugi get from Bakura, Marik from Mai, Kaiba from Izhizu, etc. Sorry for this re-post. Just crossing my fingers that you'll read it. 😅
"What If...? - Kaiba dueled Odion, then Joey dueled Marik, then Mai dueled Ishizu. Then Kaiba duels Marik, then Yugi duels Ishizu. Then Yugi vs Marik (w/ Obelisk AND Ra)
I would love to see this take for other characters. Maybe even taking it a little bit further with characters like Joey and rewriting the story a little bit. Having an underdog main character who tries to become the very best and defeat his best friend who is already hailed as the best duelist. But like I said this concept could really work for even more characters. I would love to see your take on them too!
Bro your story crashed once the final tournament arc began. What happened? It was going so well 😭
Would you do this same kind of video for Rex?
I perfered the Episode where he Schooled Marik with the "God Card" ULTIMATE INSECT LEVEL 10!...
To be honest, watching Weevil defeat every major antagonist by grabbing their deck and throwing it into the ocean would be very entertaining.
It would, until he tries to do it to Yami Marik’s deck and gets stabbed repeatedly. And you can bet your ass that nobody will try to stop Marik.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHA I LOVE IT
But yeah, Wee-Vil-Oh would 100% have Rex Raptor and maybe Mako as secondary characters and Weevil's main team/clique.

Weevil and Rex vs Dartz
I'd imagine there'd be a special monster made just for this interaction. In fact, here's one (balanced around modern day Yu-Gi-Oh)
"Perfectly Ultimate Draconic Moth"
Level 12 - DARK/Insect/Fusion
3400ATK/2800DEF
"Red Eyes B. Dragon" & 2 Insect type monsters
Must first be fusion summoned or special summoned from the extra deck by sending 1 "Red-eyes Black Dragon" equipped with "Cocoon of Evolution" to the graveyard (in which case you do not use polymerization).
@@sev1120I like it.
Valon VS Rex would just be pacific ring
I'd be more interested in seeing Rex Raptor strike out on his own. His only crime was following Weevil everywhere after Battle City.
Don't forget joining a cult that wanted to suck people's souls out.
@@Intrepid_Explorer
Thinking back on it, other than possibly Mako (if you don't count using food to lure out duelists or using weapons), and Ghost Kaiba (if you don't count using cards that aren't his), Rex is the only competitor in Duelist Kingdom that Yugi and Joey play that doesn't cheat in at least some fashion.
Weevil: Throws cards into the ocean
Mai: Marks cards with perfumes to pretend to be psychic.
Weevil? What's next, what if Syrus was the main character?...Actually i would watch that.
👀
@@TGSAnime That's a very random video! But cool!
That could actually work. Syrus has a visible arc throughout the series of him rising the ranks and becoming stronger and less whiny (Possibly because of trauma, if we're being honest), someone that can stand up against his brother and those that clash against him, like that Jinzo guy, Makoto.

I can see weevil having a comedic story of him having to claw his way back to the top after his lose against Yugi and Joey. Probably going on adventures with Rex being a the pinkie to his brain.
I thought it'd be more like Rex being the Beavis to Weevil's Butthead (Rex is naive while Weevil is a bad influence).

Rex (who's now from Brooklyn and still has his Red-Eyes): Yo Weev', I lost mah Red-Eyes to dis cweepy caped guy, nyeh"
Weevil: "Say no more. Hey you, Rare Hunter, let's duel!"
Rex: "Be vewy cawful, he uses Exodia, nyeeeeh"
Weevil: "You know what, Rare Hunter?

I like that you mention Joey giving Insect Queen back to Weevil because he even thanks Weevil for Insect Queen when he duels Odion
Yugi: Real Duelists play with honor, Weevil.
Weevil: Care to repeat that, Mr. Exodia.
Plus Elfs don't chat spells nor or they immune to traps

Thanks. As an insect duelist, I would start a little differently for Weevil underwood
Season 0.
[An old PC games magazine once said that some people had taken inspiration from the fact that in their childhood, captured insects fought against each other (similar to cockfighting).]
Hagan tried to get his collection back, but the much larger Spaniard just laughed at him as "El gusano peleón" (the fighting worm).
Haga would have lost the fight without a doubt if a moth hadn't escaped and flown into the Spaniard's face. Haga managed to knock his opponent over.
The Spaniard fell against the insect container, which broke. Due to the injuries and the terror of the many insects crawling all over him, the exchange student
didn't come to school anymore. Rumors spread and for a while no one dared to annoy Hagan anymore. One student even gave him a card out of fear. Haga's first
insect monster.
After the death of the protective personality Weevil
through the seal, Haga could come back into the spotlight.

Bandit keith's story! The American way, guns, heavy metal, and wrist bands.
Weevil shoulda got a glow up, and be like Buggy did in One Piece.
Also: he’s the protag and does the “it’s just a prank bro” thing LOL
You really do need main protagonist luck/ Heart of the Cards magic to summon The Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth

All I can think of now is Weevil saying the "it's time to d-d-d-d-d-d-Duel" in the Dub voice during the main theme.
You know, nobody's ever brought up the fact that they mention in the show that the Kingdom will have different dueling rules.
So that means potentially, outside of the island, the rules in normal duels or Regional championships, etc maybe had closer rules to the real world game or even Battle City.
There’s some good potential for some bug-themed character growth for Weevil here:
Duelist Kingdom (The Cocoon Arc): Weevil is a boy with great dueling potential who idolizes insects for their ability to grow and change into something more magnificent.
"Do you want to be friends, Weevil?" Yugi holding his Millennium Puzzle.
"Sure." Proceeds to throw the puzzle off the boat
You had me interested when you told me Weevil did the unselfish thing and tried to even the field for everyone.
I honestly like this idea of making "What-ifs" that feature minor characters in larger roles! I hope you consider making more!
I think doing this for Mai could be cool but Mako or Bakura probably deserve it most.
Instead of them fusing Dark Magician and Insect Queen, maybe this is how Weevil gets his metomorphized via a card yugi plays that transforms weevil's queen into her more powerful self
also would LOVE to see a rex as the main character where he forgives joey
What kind of insect was crawling in your house to come up with this idea lol.
Wee-Vil-Oh sounds like that off brand cereal that only gets sold in those hole in the wall grocery stores.
What if Seto Kaiba’s Deck was Red-Eyes and Joey’s deck was Blue-Eyes, interesting how that would work.
I need those for something else." Hence why Weevil has his Insect Queen back and possibly how Rex got his Tyrant Dragon.
fusion between red-eyes and insect queen
a sign of friendship between Weevil, Joey, and Rex Raptor
Might I suggest as a name/design “Red-Eyes Black Widow?”
Weevil drops yugioh and gets inspired by the bugs and the increasing urbanization of Japan to make videogames using his actual name: Satoshi Tajiri.
Then he gets ftk somehow or gets his hand destroyed, or he's forced to swap hands and somehow the opponent draws the last piece.
but only 3 pieces are in the ocean, joey retrieved 2 parts
Is it actually confirmed that no one else has Exodia cards? I know Kaiba says no one has ever summoned him before but that doesn't mean that no one else has any of the cards.
Seeker has Exodia
@@bennu547Yeah, but those were explicitly stated to be counterfeit exodia pieces he was using.
@@danielzakgaim2764
Remember, he had a full playset of each Exodia piece in his deck. If only one copy of the 5 pieces existed, his deck would have been flagged as illegal the moment the duel disk identified a second copy of any of the pieces.
The pieces may be rare cards, but there are others out there.
Adrian in GX had them and Gozaburo had them digitally
I don't remember anyone ever saying there was only one of each, I always thought it was just that the cards were so rare that nobody has ever been able to bring them together in a deck, let alone activate their instant-win effect.
The regional championship match is the only duel where Weevil doesn't seem to have cheated. It's also his only on-screen win.
I kinda assumed that the 'Pegaus only told me about the Field Bonus' thing was part of the tournament prize
If you're looking for more bonkers "What if?" ideas, I'd love to see you tackle these two:
Whaf in Panik became a good guy after Duelist Kingdom?
Basically, Panik becomes like Duke Devlin, a character who bested one Yugi's friends, and who then was defeated by Yugi for their sake. And because he got Mind Crushed by Yugi, all the evil in him got released, like with Kaiba. Panik could even fight his own evil gay clown, if you wanted.
Scenario 2:
What if Yugi died/got sent to the Shadow Realm in the double duel against Lumis and Umbra?
I could easily see her play around with Dark Magician Girl and the flavor magicians from DSOD.
the alternate timeline where great moth and insect queen became an archtype and we get an perfect great moth fusion wiht dark magician
If side characters had their own show:
- Jo-Ey-Oh
- Yu-Weev-Oh
- Mai-ve Ds
- Tea-king The Dragons (OK, that one was stretching it a bit)
I've always wanted a Bakura Ryou show to mirror Yugi and Atem
Imagining the theme song when Yugi says 'it's time to duel' but in Weevil's high pitched voice has me rolling 😂
I'd rather we get that with Misty, Bommer, or of course Carly.
From what I looked up, the character 友 is pronounced as "Yu" and translates to "friend," and the kanji キ means "insect, bug" and is pronounced as "ki." I therefore insist that we pun this series "Yu-Ki-Oh" or "The Friendly Bug King!"
It also works really well too because one of the common playstyles of insect decks is a large colony working together to survive as a strong unit.
Then it would be way better.
I would have given him the Inzectoids card even though they weren't a thing back there yet.
I feel like TGS Anime has been watching too many of those "I was Reincarnated as a Background Character" anime/manga stories. Not that I'm complaining.
A Yugi/Weevil tag duel would be the perfect opportunity to finally see The Eye of Timaeus fused with Poison Butterfly successfully.
I would love to see this with Jesse Anderson. Awesome video
I am a big fan of "what if" type stories like this. admittedly I don't know much about the anime outside of what I've learned from your videos... but I think maybe Blue Angel could be an interesting protagonist if she didn't have as many "the plot made her lose" moments
regardless of who gets protagonistified...
