its funny because I just watched a video where someone slammed almost all of these series and it was so obvious it was someone who just loathed YA and I just grit my teeth for the whole video. It's hard when you read both YA and adult, fantasy and sci fi and dealing with the prejudices of some booktubers
I would recommend Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson! It was my firs Sanderson, and I think it's still my favorite! Sassy female characters, and a simple but detailed world. The magic system is simple, but unique! Also, one of the sweetest love stories I have read in fantasy!
Mistborn was the first one I read of his, but only after I learned he was going to complete Wheel of Time for the departed Jordan. Which was great, the second book a little less as good. 3rd one I haven''t even picked up.
You must have heard my silent plea about needing to read more fantasy series, so I'm glad you posted this. I am currently in a post ACOWAR slump and can't seem to keep my attention to anything lately. Three Dark Crowns sounds something up my alley, and Six of Crows is deff on my wishlist too. I have Vicious but it's been sitting on my bookshelf for a few months, and I have read the first two in TID series, have yet to read the last one. Great video. I'll be adding these all to my lists. Thank you x
I finished ACOMAF a few days ago and I need to buy ACOWAR, because I love this series💕😍 Loved your video! I also get confused easily while reading fantasy, which makes it harder to enjoy it. Though I still really love fantasy😄
I just finished The Rose and The Dagger a few days ago and I loved it! There are going to be four Witchlands books, and you have to read the second book!!!!!!!!!!!! I love both the TOG and ACOTAR series and TWATD, but the Witchlands series is my new favorite, I just loved both books so much! I had a bit of trouble with Three Dark Crowns but I'm really looking forward to the sequel. Somehow I'm not that drawn to V.E. Schwab, but Six of Crows and The Young Elites are on my TBR. You should try the Winner's Curse Trilogy if you haven't read it, it's awesome. Well I only read the first book yet, but that one was awesome ;) Also, Rebel of the Sands and Traitor to the Throne are amazing fantasy books, especially if you liked TWATD, because they also have this oriental feel.
Great choices! I'm a huge Sarah J Maas fan. I adored The Shades of Magic series, and all of Cassandra Clare's books. I agree that IF is her best series by far! Clockwork Princess is absolutely beautiful, the writing in that one is her best I think. I recommend any of Laini Taylor's books, just for the writing alone! Plus great stories and great characters!
ive found such a love for fantasy the last year and this one. normally only liked contemporary fantasy/paranormal in the past but am loving high fantasy. my fantasy recommends would be the following authors: C S Pacat, Mark Lawerence, Scott Lynch and Melissa Grey. V E Schwab is by far my fave fantasy author though.
Have you read This Savage Song yet? Or The Archived? Both really great Victoria Schwab books. I also really liked The Girl of Fire and Thorns series by Rae Carson. And The Daughter of Smoke and Bone series by Laini Taylor. But really, there are just so many it's impossible to list them all! If you're wanting to get more into adult epic fantasy I would suggest A Song of Ice and Fire (G.R.R.M) or The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan (and later Brandon Sanderson). I haven't actually finished the WOT series, but I like what I've read so far. I also really want to read the Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson.
I didn't like the first book in Throne of Glass at all..but I loved the ACOTAR series! So that being said I'm definitely going to finish Throne of Glass as a series because I'm hopeful it gets better 🙂 I LOVED the Witchlands Series....read Windwitch!!! It's really good! 😊
You need to read The Black Prism series. This is the best fantasy series I've read in a great while. I read a lot of the same books as you and think you'd enjoy them. They are long and adult, but Brent Weeks is a great author. :)
I just discovered your page and I have to say that I love it. The way you talk about the books makes me want to read them. Your description for each one of them is so clear and crisp and I feel like I understand it better lol I just subscribed 💕
I am adding Vicious to my TBR. I wanted to wait till I finished teh shades of magic series before I read anything else by Schwab but nah I'm adding it haha.
I love Reading Fantasy Books - Fantasy is my favorite Genre to Read Besides Mysteries. I need to get busy and read all of the ones that you mention. I really want to read them. You may like Anne McCaffrey - She is a fantastic Fantasy - Science Fiction Author - she writes mostly Fantasy Books. She wrote The Pern Series and it is really good. It is about Dragons. I love the Pern Series. Another Author that you might like is R. A. Salvatore. I love his Books. They are really good. Another Author is L. E. Modesitt. I love his Books too. Happy Reading - Enjoy your Day. Have A Lovely Weekend :)
I love the Witchlands! I liked Windwitch even more than Truthwitch :) So good. I think the series is going to be 5 books :) I definitely want to read Vicious and Three Dark Crowns soon
These were great recommendations! Thank you, I've read three dark crowns which I loved and can't wait for the next book! The other's I want to read them all. Right now I am reading Carve the mark and I love it :)
Bookables It’s all good 🙃 it’s hard to keep all the stories straight, I honestly just knew because I just finished it! I’ve watched a lot of your videos by now (this one was actually the first!) and love your channel. You are one of my favorite and have a good intuition on book recommendations, and I appreciate that you don’t try to over hyper yourself in doing so; you’re videos are great enough as they are. Keep up the great work!
Just ordered the Six of Crows. i hope your right about it been good :), the YA series Throne of glass, would anyone recommand this to someone who has never read YA before? more of a Rothfuss, Martin, Hamilton reader
hmm I'd say if your already a fan of rothfuss and martin your already well versed in the epic fantasy world. Throne of glass is def new adult so has alot of romance throughout it but it's enjoyable but again it's ya/new adult so it might not wow you as much as martin's and rothfuss's books do.
Hi, I would 110% recommend the throne of glass series. The first two books are kind of slow but the other 6 are sooo good. All books are great but you really see the writing develop in the second one. Would 100% recommend this series and absolutely love it and was addicted
You migth want to check out Vivian Amberville - The Weaver of Odds. It's a new bestseller of the YA, dystopian fantasy genre about a little girl with the power to shape reality. Lovely video by the way. keep up the great work!
The Hallowmere Series by Tiffany Trent(is incomplete though), Tithe by Holly Black and The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater. I can't get into Sarah J. Maas. I read A court of thorns and roses and kept rolling my eyes the whole time. I got the second book because everyone says it's better.
I just love your channel!!! I was just thinking how I needed to branch out and try reading more fantasy because I haven't read ANY (besides Harry Potter of course 😂) I usually stick to Thriller/Mystery/ Horror, and now I def have Vicious, Six of Crows & Three Dark Crowns on my TBR!😍📚
I don't know if anyone already recommended the seven realms series but it is truly amazing! There are 4 books, so not a really big saga, it has a really strong female character and political intrigue, besides it has a really good swooning romance. Highly recommend it! :)
with throne of glass, I didn't really like it the first time round may have to read it again. I am intrigued by court of thorns and roses. The thing with throne of glass is the main character starts off all tough etc but then doesn't really stay that way unless it changes in the second book? May have to give it a second chance.
Schwab has said that she always intended for Vicious to be a trilogy. I believe she is working on the second book now, and that the series is called Villians
lol I like that you call Sarah j mass book crack that's what they are u Can't get enough of them im loving her I'm still on book three hier of fire and I'm reading a court of mist and fury
I would recommend the Moon Chosen it is a 2 book series i think not sure but its about these group of companions with their canines and scratchers and they hate each other technically and it is a wonderful book so far have yet to finish it, but hoping to soon :)
I recommend Ysabel by Guy Gavriel Kay. It's his most YA fantasy. If you like it dig deeper: there's a dozen other of his fantasy books. Ever tried Robin Hobb? Or the Hobbit by JRR Tolkien? Lots of fantasy fun awaits you if you want to give it a try. :-)
@bookables. This was an AMAZING video😍😍😍🙋🙋🙋. Right now, I'm currently reading The Infernal Devices and its really awesome!!!! P.S. I've never heard of some of these books that were mentioned but I am DEFINITELY! going to put some of these novels on my TBR!😀😀 Thanks soooooooooo much for this...
I've never really read any fantasy... any ideas about where to start? I struggle with concentration due to medical stuff so nothing too complex would be great! xx
The Dark Fairy Tale Queens is an all time favorite of mine. Three in the series so far. Each book is about 200 pages. Book one is called Sinful Cinderella. They are fairy tale princesses that are dark with some humor.
Sarah j mass OMG love her yes she is book crack, love the luner chronicles, vicious haven't read yet, read the first two in the darker shade of magic need to read book three, don't like the shadow hunters tried to get in to her but couldn't, just got the six of Crow's two books on kindle, read the wrath and the dawn two books and the three short stories love them, Haven't read the truth witch or wind witch, not read three dark crowns yet it's on my tbr, haven't read the young elite series.

You should check out SunRider by Rafael Hohmann. There is no uncomfortable romance scenes in the book and it's fun to watch the relationship grow between the main character Finn and his romantic interest Leah. Here is a link to the book if you're interested! :) www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B074BPCGBF/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1501292711&sr=1-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=SunRider&dpPl=1&dpID=51QGPewxElL&ref=plSrch
Sarah J Maas dedicates chapters to them lmao. I’m not against sec scenes in books but I think she over does it or it’s just too much of the same. Either way even if you skip it it doesn’t affect the plot at all.
I've heard nothing but good things about the acotar series. I really want to read it but i hear that they're sex scenes and they're quite explicit. I don't mind but my mom is very wary of the books i read. I'm 17 by the way. Do you think i should still try them?
Hmm good question! It's honestly personal prefrence! You can skip over the sex scenes honestly and the plot is still there. It gets more explicit in the 2nd book I will say.
I know you are trying to sum up the plot, but having now read Vicious I feel like Victor and Eli weren't great friends even in the beginning. Victor was insanely jealous of Eli and Eli seemed to see himself as superior to Victor.

The Legend of Eli Monpress and/or Heartstiker by Rachel Aaron. Also Riyria Revelations/Chronicles by Michael Sullivan. These are my favorite fantasy series.
I recommend The kingkiller Chronicle. Although the third book god knows when will be out
ha will look into it!
It, most likely, will never be out. Already lost faith. ☹️
@@AldrianCG It will come out the day the world ends and we won't have time to finish reading it
its funny because I just watched a video where someone slammed almost all of these series and it was so obvious it was someone who just loathed YA and I just grit my teeth for the whole video. It's hard when you read both YA and adult, fantasy and sci fi and dealing with the prejudices of some booktubers
was it emily fox???
"Sarah J Maas writes book crack" 😂😂 so true!!!
right??
I recommend the Snow Like Ashes Trilogy! I absolutely love this Trilogy! It helped me get out of a year long reading slump!
Awesome! will def check it out!
I tried reading the first book but I just can't get through it :(
I would recommend Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson! It was my firs Sanderson, and I think it's still my favorite! Sassy female characters, and a simple but detailed world. The magic system is simple, but unique! Also, one of the sweetest love stories I have read in fantasy!

shadow hunters show is ok. It grows on you. It is different than the books but is still watchable...especially alec/magnus!
not watchable at all. terrible acting!
I read Wrath and the Dawn a few days ago. I loved it and I am really excited to read the second one.
yay! loved the second one!

I have a difficult time reading Fantasy because of the many characters to keep track of in the story. You make me what to try again!
Me too, me too! Some of them are worth it..some not haha!
ACOTAR Feyre didn’t go over the wall, just hunted near it since she lived by there.......
oh whoops, small mistake!!

Yay!!
Oooh, cute shirt! I'm definitely buying ACOWAR soon. I thought I had preordered it, but apparently not 😅
thanks so much!
I just bought the first two books from The Shades of Magic trilogy. I feel like I am more intermediate with what kind of fantasy reader I am too.
Those books are so good! love them!
Did you read The Grisha Trilogy before Six of Crows?
i did not
I don't know if anyone already recommended the seven realms series but it is truly amazing! There are 4 books, so not a really big saga, it has a really strong female character and political intrigue, besides it has a really good swooning romance. Highly recommend it! :)
awesome!
I also suggest getting into A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones). It's my favorite fantasy series of all time, next to Harry Potter!
hmm mifght try it!

Should I read the Infernal devices before the mortal instruments series?
hmmm I'd read them in publication order i think
Ive just finished Clockwork Princess and I LOVED reading them in publication order!!! You get the FEELS
Yes!
I would recommend the Moon Chosen it is a 2 book series i think not sure but its about these group of companions with their canines and scratchers and they hate each other technically and it is a wonderful book so far have yet to finish it, but hoping to soon :)
oh awesome, will check it out!
have you ever read the witcher Books?
if your looking for a good fantasy story then there the best ones to read ^.^
Will look them up!
I have read the hobbit!
Ah, but have you read Lord of the Rings? And beyond that The Silmarillion awaits, should you get that far. :-)
I recommend the Ranger's Apprentice series

Vicious omg one of my faves ever. I loved it so much xx

Thanks soooooooooo much for this...
thanks for watching!
I've never really read any fantasy... any ideas about where to start? I struggle with concentration due to medical stuff so nothing too complex would be great! xx
hmmm a court of thorns and roses ins't to complicated I dont think! also vicious !
anything by Brandon Sanderson
Riyria Revelations/Chronicles by Michael Sullivan would be a good fantasy series to start with.
Hannah Hodgson Rebel of the Sands. The fanstasy world is easy to understand and the main character is badass!
The Dark Fairy Tale Queens is an all time favorite of mine. Three in the series so far. Each book is about 200 pages. Book one is called Sinful Cinderella. They are fairy tale princesses that are dark with some humor.
Sarah j mass OMG love her yes she is book crack, love the luner chronicles, vicious haven't read yet, read the first two in the darker shade of magic need to read book three, don't like the shadow hunters tried to get in to her but couldn't, just got the six of Crow's two books on kindle, read the wrath and the dawn two books and the three short stories love them, Haven't read the truth witch or wind witch, not read three dark crowns yet it's on my tbr, haven't read the young elite series.
def try some of them!
Have you read the Zodiac series by Romina Russell?!
i have not!
The last/fourth book comes out in August I believe. You should totally check it out. It's a sci-if fantasy where each Zodiac has its own planet. And the 13th Zodiac is no longer. Hope to see a review about it pop up on your channel as I have not seen a booktuber I follow talk about it yet. 😊
Yes!! I love love love TID 😍
yes!!!
You should read the house of night series! My favorites :)
I will check it out!
I wonder how 'adult' the sex scenes in a court of thornes and roses series are? cause I don't mind a little bit of 'bed time' but I don't wanna know all the details of what they do you know... so can I still read it or should I stay away from it?
Karo Samson they get pretty steamy at times, but you can totally skip over those scenes without losing anything from the plot!
okay thats great thank you! It would've been a shame cause I'd really love to read this series (soon hopefully). so thank you for your reply:)
hmmm it does get pretty steamy but like mere said you can def skip over them and not lost the plot!
You should check out SunRider by Rafael Hohmann. There is no uncomfortable romance scenes in the book and it's fun to watch the relationship grow between the main character Finn and his romantic interest Leah. Here is a link to the book if you're interested! :)

have you read the short stories to the wrath and the dawn
Argh, I still need to!
Love your videos!
Thanks so much!
YES!! THE YOUNG ELITES!!! I’m pissed by how underrated the trilogy is
Agreed!
I know you are trying to sum up the plot, but having now read Vicious I feel like Victor and Eli weren't great friends even in the beginning. Victor was insanely jealous of Eli and Eli seemed to see himself as superior to Victor.
true but again I was just trying vaguely to summerazie it lol
I'm so annal about this kind of stuff LOL
Outlander!!
:-)
The infernal devices is definitely her best series. The characters in there are far superior to her other series.
agree!
For Throne Of Glass the king did not notice her, the prince is the one who wanted her to compete.
Yes! Dorian did! whoops!
This is mostly just within the ya world though
true, I read mostly YA though.
Just subbed 💕
bookstore berlin germany
I prefer a court of thorns and roses to Sarah J Mass's other series

I just finished reading Followed by Frost by Charlie N. Holmberg I highly recommend! Also The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern is really enjoyable also.
Awesome!
Do you only like female fantasy authors in the video?
I def need to read more male fantasy authors.
vicious is not a standalone anymore...
has it been confirmed??? I'm excited also nervous for it!
Bookables i think so...ve schwab said that it was supposed to be a series and the second book already has a title however it could still be treated as a standalone by not reading the sequels..its what she said in goodreads 😊
First 😄😄
:-)
how the fuck are you not ok with sex in books?
Never said I wasn't....I just try to inform my viewers when there is a great deal of it in books because I have a ton of young viewers.
Hope this doesn't come across as mean, and if it does I apologize, but you babble to much. I lost interest before you even got to your list.
Kind of like a book that spends it's first 10 pages on an info dump, the story, setting, and characters might be really cool but most readers won't wait to find out.
so sorry!
Bookables no need to be sorry, and I hope I wasn't offensive, but I was being honest.
The Legend of Eli Monpress and/or Heartstiker by Rachel Aaron. Also Riyria Revelations/Chronicles by Michael Sullivan. These are my favorite fantasy series.
Awesome!
