@@VideoGameEsoterica The old Irem disbanded and after Nazca was formed by former members of Irem, they got bought out by SNK immediately after the release of Metal Slug. Then, Irem re-emerged sometime in early '97, a year before the release of R-Type Delta (PS1).
As a newcomer of R-typer, We need 3,Delta,Final and LEO for 8~9th gen game consoles such as PS4,5,Switch...etc and PC ESDs such as Steam, GOG and so on!
I actually own the Irem arcade collection, and this game runs fine for me in Windows 10? Sorry to hear it wouldn't work for you. At least MAME exists, though. I'd never actually tried it before watching this video, so I find it interesting that the stage 1 theme is actually used as the launcher theme for the Irem collection itself. Cute

I never knew it was a repurposed Namco title. It's still a worthy game in the franchise. As for R-Type Final 2, it's a great game indeed. As far as the music goes, one of the composers previously worked on the music in Super R-Type (Super NES). I've worked on a chiptune cover of Area 6 years back on my channel. I still need to research how to set up the x6800 with games. Spending all my time right now with gameboy and Master System at the moment. Really love Golden Axe Warrior. Game starts rough, but then you realize that’s a wonderful design choice once you get the axe.
The x68000 core is beta and rough. I mean it works and it’s impressive and in no way a judgement against the maker but you’d be 100% better off using software emulation for x68000 currently.
I bought that Irem collection for mac about 10 years ago. I don't think the windows version was available at the time. Anyway, the mac version doesn't run great either.
R type final 2 is actually a good game. Tons of micro details. Doesn't have the 3D like R type final on some levels. To me is actually best played on bydo and r typer difficulty. Of course the Leo 2 is my favorite ship so far.
@@gamer-fe2xp I literally would have no choice but to play it on MAME. I wish I could drive to Chicago to go to GGA, but work and the health crisis are big issues for me, especially since I live with high-risk individuals. MAME is extremely shoddy if being played on a PSP. I have NO idea how to get it running properly on my T95 Android TV box, especially since I have a few Xbox 360 controllers to configure for the blasted thing. I live in Madison, WI--a 3-hr drive from Chicago. And it would take me about 35-45 minutes from the Far South Side of Chicago TBH.

Leo is criminally underrated, deserves more love because it's unique, also the Final 2 leo stage remake is hard and fun, done perfectly

Someday I'll get the PCB for this one. It's basically what I wanted R-Type to be, and none of the other games in the series really did it for me.

My favourite shmup. I love how they toned down the mad difficulty of other R-types game and made it just a fun game. The graphics is sublime

I'm currently playing it. I love it so much. I play on a CRT TV and that makes a huge difference. By far I prefere that one over Final 2 on Steam.

Nazca was the best thing to come out of the old Irem. I have a series on them coming out next spring :)
You can buy and download the Irem Arcade Collection from Amazon. I have no problems with my Windows 10 laptop EXCEPT for the sound - terrible!

Yeah no "version" available digitally runs well at all. They range from bad to "crashes every few minutes"...I'd call them all unplayable

MAME is great because even if it’s not perfect it’s better than not being able to play the game
