Agree with everything you say. It's a tight, well designed game with a lot of variety available in a small box. Lots of replayablity with different classes and monsters. I wanted to hate it because of the kickstarter but now I definitely consider it a very solid small box game that I am glad to have.

Thank you for the review. It definitely helps me to ponder on which of these small box games to try first.

Got this second hand two weeks ago.
Lost every time, often after defeating a boss and not having the necessary food resources…
    I love it!
I often play wide open solo ttrpg and these small boxes fit because: they are tight mechanically, obvious win/losses, I can fit them in after a ttrpg session.
I grab this when I don’t want open and expansive, it’s my “solitaire” or “crib”
    Beautiful game too!
(Great components to steal for solo a ttrpg session!)

I bought this retail a few years ago. I play it once in awhile but quite enjoy it when I do. The art is good and the scavenging is a fun mechanic.

Hi! I wanted so much to like this game because of the world and the art. But , as you say, it feels like a paradox going from this fleshed out universe to your cube sheet... I know its supposed to be abstract as you say but I prefer a little more of a cohesive experience, even if its more random. I sold it, but now watching your review I want to play it again haha! The narrative of vengeance is so nice! I hope Artem still does an expansion with range weapon and magic, with another distributor! Thanks for this review on point, as always!

I have this one, it’s quite good in my opinion but the gameplay doesn’t really live up to the production quality. The min max nature becomes somewhat mechanical and breaks the theme after a while. I pick it up and play a game once in a while. I prefer Mini Rogue and Spire’s End for this type of game.

This is the puzzle version for those who like small dungeon crawlers. Iron Helm is the more narrative-driven version. I play them both, and they're both better than the hype balloon that is Final Girl (about which i can give Fair reasons).
Still didn't get my KS copy of Unbroken, but bought it on eBay years ago, so never really noticed.

Thank you for another great video.
I've only found out about your channel lately, and I'm really impressed by it...
Although, I don't recall that I saw any reference to some other title which I expected to find in this channel, so in case it went under your radar, you might want to check out:
    Ruins: Death Binder.

I can’t possibly cover everything! Especially only working part time on this. :) I haven’t even covered half of the games I own! :)

Like you my game arrived without issue. But this is one the games that finally taught me that I enjoy adventure games over puzzle games. It just fell flat and Gloomhaven is another good example, I just find the puzzle less engaging or interesting than drawing the Cave In card of WHQ. But you are correct, it is well made and an interesting world. The designer is great, and shame the company that kickstarted it definitely soured people on the game.

There’s nothing like drawing that Cave In card in WHQ. :)

I played it and it seemed to me that it was quite simple to set up the ecohomics of resources. That's why I easily passed the game. Maybe I just got lucky and should play some more. Do you think the game is not too simple?

    • @TheDungeonDive

I love simple games, so for me it's not an issue.

Got it delivered years after GBS's farce handling of this KS. Played a few games. Defeated all the bosses. Gave it away as charity soon after. Not going to waste my shelf space on this.

Backstory sounds like something out of dark fantasy like Goblin Slayer and Berserk.
I can see why Geek Gamers didnt seem to be fond of Unbroken but on the brightside you got greeblies to use in other dungeon crawls/solo rpgs.

Wow, so there is a game I got to faster than Daniel, I bought a year or 2 ago in the second hand market and I can copies appearing from time to time. It's a good game although I get annoyed by twenty or so blank cards that could have provided

Is the game hard or unfair?

    • @Rodinov_Claw
      @Rodinov_Claw 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Not hard....you can finish 1 run and defeat the boss n 15 minutes or less

    • @TheDungeonDive

For me it’s challenging but fair.

@@crazyvolucris Do you beat the game or you 'game' the game to win?

    • @crazyvolucris
      @crazyvolucris 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@albertfajarito1 well... i played the game several times (no record) and not even got close to win it... it's nice to see the progress while playing and getting better... i don't know how long this one will stay in my collection, cause the competition for small box games is big :)

The sequence of the encounter cards makes the game relying on luck too much...

    • @TheDungeonDive

I prefer my games to be about 98% luck, so I'm good with it.
