1st Arrondissement of Paris
The Louvre museum, home to the "Mona Lisa," is the heart of this lively district that features Hausmann-era boulevards and parks such as the Tuileries and the 17th-century Palais Royal. Fashionistas troop to the designer boutiques and luxury jewelers along chic Rue Saint Honoré and Place Vendôme. In the eclectic 2nd arrondissement, textile wholesalers in the Sentier area give way to hip stores around the Rue Montorgueil street market. Quirky boutiques line old-world covered walkways like Galerie Vivienne, while foodies troop to Passage des Panoramas and the ramen eateries in the city's main Japanese quarter along Rue Sainte-Anne. Top sights include Notre Dame (12 million visitors in 2017), Disneyland Paris (11), Sacre Cœur (10), the Versailles Palace (7.7), the Louvre Museum (6.9), the Eiffel Tower (5.9), Centre Pompidou (3.33), and the Musée d'Orsay (3 million). The largest numbers of foreign tourists who come to the Paris region are British, American, German, Italian, Chinese, and Canadian.

Interesting that Paris seems to impress much more through a focus on horizontality rather than verticality, with its focus being on drawing attention to large open plazas and Haussmann style buildings and greenery that look like they could flow on forever.

Those large boulevards without lane markings look rather confusing but people still drive quite peacefully without any issues.
