I just went there Friday and I know all the ways they try to get you to spend money I ended up getting a basic eye exam and 2 frames for $69 no complaints they were very nice just always trying to get you to spend extra $$
I wear a lower power progressive lens, and they have to be safety's for work with side shields- got out the door for $200. My actual eye doctor's office wanted to sell me the same glasses for over $500. So I got a hell of a deal today for work glasses.

This was so so helpful! thank you for explaining how expensive being extra blind is. I'm a -7 going on to 8 and and I didn't think there were extra charges on stuff like that 😑
They are not extra charges but a better option to thin out your lenses. You don't have to get it if you don't want it but your lenses will be really thick which really is not worth it in the long run :(
I LOVE your choices for your glasses. I just got mine today but didnt get the glare protection. Im going to have to call them to see what the difference will be
It's the same with ads here in Germany. You never walk out with the price they tell you before.
A Tip for you: If you choose frames that are small they can order smaller lenses and they are not that thick. The bigger the frame is the thicker they come. So i alway look out for nice small frames so I can buy cheeper lenses that come not too thick.

Thanks for the honest review. Always good to know what to expect. If the eye exam is $50 might be worth it to get the exam and buy the glasses online. Knowing now that they upcharge after my exam I would speak with the salesperson and find out how I can stay within the cheaper range then look for so e nicer frames online...
Vooglam sells really nice, quality, inexpensive frames. I purchased some that were on sale for $6.95. I liked them so much that I purchased another pair! I'm on this page looking for reviews before I add in my prescription.

They did this to me, when I set down she said 320.00 the doctor recommended anti glare, and whole bunch of extras, I said I don't want all these extra my prescription is single vision, I walked out paying 132.00
I love America's Best..I usually get 2 pairs and sunglasses. Most recent visit I paid about $400 for everything + a contact lens exam. Never had issues with them. If you have insurance you should probably just go to a regular ophthalmologist. America's Best is good for people like me who have health insurance but not vision. I always get a lot for a decent price.
I bought a pair and both fell apart in the same day. I had them a year or so but one broke I fetched the other one and five minutes later I had two broken pairs of glasses

I've been going there for 4 years. I've always received the 69.99 deal for 2 pair of glasses and exam.
Did you walk out only spending 69.99?
You can walk out for 69.95 from those selections and those are basic plastic lenses. If you add scratch resistant or upgrade to poly carb lenses and or add anti glare or add transitions the prices goes up. All those are extra. I recently got the 2 for 111 and upgraded lenses also paid for cancer picture etc so all together I paid 242 out the door could have been much less but I chose the upgrades. All up to u but still less expensive to most glass places
If you need reading glasses anything else they can run up to 400.00. They don’t take most insurances
You must really good vision because the average person will DEFINITELY be encouraged to spend more.
I know this is old, but I wear bifocals….and I have astigmatism in both eyes. Two pairs of glasses plus the exam were only $75.00. So either they changed, or you were played!

So after them 2 try in getting lenses I decided to get my none back

Vero Nica I also have astigmatism in both eyes and I have had no issues. However, during an eye exam I keep telling them if it looks the same or tell them it's fuzzy or has a Halo. Cause they only ask better or worse. So I suggest giving them more details. 😉

I got mine for $69.95 and they were very sweet I got two blue tags one so I can get mine for $69.95 I'm still waiting to pick them up and I just figured I'm nearsighted.......

How long did they take to pick them up?
If I went in the place and the add said eye exam and 2 pairs for $69.99 and they said your total is $351, I would simply stand up and walk out, then go find a place that actually tells the truth.
RIGHT! They tell lie after lie and their objective is to extract as much money out of you as they can. BEWARE!

Just went and they said I could get the $79.95 2 pair deal. I wanted to get contacts too. It totaled $307 and I only got 1 pair of glasses. I only walked out with the 1 pair of contacts they provided and they will mail me the 6 month supply on June 8th. I have to go back to get the glasses fitted. So Anywhere you go you're paying $300 for contacts so I wouldn't say it was a rip off but I definitely can say that shit aint no 79.95 with a free exam. That, my friends, is a lie.

@@alexismarie5172 well you have to get anti glare, specially if you plan to watch TV or be in front of a computer monitor. The only things you can say no to are transition shades and anti scratch.

Went to A.B.[Americas Best] for glasses.Waited 4 hrs to get examination.Rec'd 1 exam on 1 side of building[preliminary exam,I guess].When called in office for main exam,the automated machine 'locked up'and the doctor??? could not unjam it.that should have told me to leave. But,he called the two receptionist,and they rebooted the machine for him!!! he gave me prescription for progressive bi- focals.When they arrived,i could not read with them.they said "try for 1 week".I did and still could not get used to them.They re-did the glasses into regular bi-focals. I tried these for a week. I am returning the glasses to the store to see if I can get my 200.00 back.
In NE Ohio, I got to say the staff are really nice. I am looking at this video because I am questioning getting Anti Glare. I bought two pairs. in 2019. The anti glare just started disintegrating at the same time on both of them. I got the most expensive progressive lenses that have a wider lens view for both far and near nearsightedness. I really liked them compared to a cheaper lens. The problem is they come with the anti glare which has proven to be very hard to maintain or last.
Yeah you pay extra for anti glare and then it fades away. Not fair at all.
So far I didn't have any of these these problems. Kirsty what they advertised. Paid 70 bucks for 2pair plus the free exam. There making mine now so I can't wait to get mine.
Love your new glasses. Can you tell me what brand they are? I'm going tomorrow to America's best and want find something quick. I'm not that picky however I would like to try on the ones that you picked out
They are not pulling you let, you glasses are thick and the materials for thin lenses are expencive and dose not matter with contacts.
Do not use Americas Best if you ever actually hope to you know, get glasses. Oh they sell them to you, but then tell you they can’t ship to your home and going on three weeks later , still no glasses and they are a bit rude if you call and ask
I just went today and I paid exactly 69.95. There is different shelves that have different frames and different prices.
If you can wear contacts, you would be perfect for disposables and they would be cheaper. You can wear them for a week and they fazor your kind of eye problem where they do not favor mine being a + 7.5 most don’t even make anymore.
With anti glare if you work in a restaurant, they will melt off from the lenses and it will scratch your glasses. Extreme heat.
Does it help if you have insurance?

What if you need to find out what your prescription is?
A year ago I had an exam, & now needing another exam, there is no doctor. I was told there's a shortage of doctors because of COVID & them not graduating from school. I was told they only hire new graduates. So I paid for three exams & unless I want to travel over an hour, which isn't easy for me at this time, I have to go somewhere else for my new eye exam. I will never go there again!
I got some glasses from them and first they wrote down the wrong prescription on the left side of each pair of glasses. Then when they got the correct lenses, the same lady chipped one of the new lens trying to put it in the glasses. Won't ever go back to them again after that fiasco.
Not the best deal at all if you have a multi focal prescription. I was really disappointed. Even with insurance they wanted to charge me almost $275 for my glasses. The ads are misleading.
Mine was $452, but I did buy one of the 2 for $169 designer glasses. I bought one of the 2 for $69 glasses as well. It seemed kind of high, but after watching this makes sense since my vision is around -4.. lol

Go tell them. Once my husbands lenses were not correct and they fixed them. I am sure if you tell them they will make.it right.

i just bought glasses today…i shopped Costco, Lenscrafters., Walmart, Americas best, Target and Perle vision. Buying glasses these days is worse than buying a used car. The best experience was Americas Best…the absolute worst was Lenscrafters. Lenscrafters had a 50% off sale…but said if I used my insurance they wouldn’t apply discount. Then had the gall to tell me that the non-insurance price was $1000 for lenses before 50% off. At the end of the day AB charged me $360 all-in fir progressives w. high index lenses and transitions with Oakley Frames..about $150 less than anyone else…
i knew it too good to be true and i just made an appointment, guess I'll be cancelling tomorrow
I still go there often. But now I know that since I had really bad eyes that it's going to cost me more.
You are not alone. There are more and more people that have -4 or worse prescription every year, which may add up to at least 200 dollars or more

I just got the progressive eyeglasses at Americas best and paid $640. It is twice as much on what i used to pay.. i have been there before and paid $300-$350. Since they are progressive and transition lenses i hope they are worth it.

Its a trap. I did the 2 pair deal and even went to the $112 for 2 pairs. One pair gave me immediate migraines. I took them back, they adjusted the frames and said they're good. The other pair which were going to be my backup, constantly break. So they are cheap plastic frames and the customer support sucks

You could honestly walk out the door with a pair for $69 if you leave it the way it is. If you have a higher prescription you would want to get thinner or else you will hate your glasses which will cost a little extra. You could get two glasses with everything on there and a warranty for the same price for one elsewhere oh and don't forget a free eye exam when you get 2 pairs. America's Best is really the best eyeglass store I've been to.
They told me that my perception was too thick I had to get compressed lenses, was not an option to get them without.
@@samglamslam7869 sometimes it wouldn’t work with certain prescriptions but you should still be able to get the basic lenses if you are a -6

I got 2 pairs for 69.95... they have other selections frames for higher prices because my moms were 2 for 112 but that’s in Virginia where I live so idk

You got the same eyeglasses as i do. They look great on you.. my third time going to Americas best.. i have paid between $300 and $300 for two pairs. I think it’s great. I went to walmart for my first and paid over $400 for one..

It's makes me sad they charge more if you have a higher prescription....i have a -8 in 1 eye & -1.25 in the other....i have insurance but my out of pocket is high....i have used zeni optical in the past & paid $67 incl shipping,thinner lens,scratch & uv & shipping! Zenni optical:)

You can absolutely get 2/69.95. If they try to charge more, as for a manager, because the add states 2/69.95 . I work there, and we are not supposed to try to upgrade without explanation.

I went online and they said it’s$99 for a 3 year membership in order to get the 2 pairs for $69.95
Bodaise Costly when you go in they should have a section that’s the 2 for 69.95 and then they have another section for 2 for 143 and then another section for 2 for 111+ you don’t have to have a membership to do it i just went today

i found frames today and was planning to come back with my scrip, and family members warned me to look into them, as they are known for sketchy glasses. And Im like, "what"? They said they are inexpensive for a reason... my dad listed two coworkers that were NOT happy. My dad himself grabbed a pair and said when wearing them, that his vision is all weird... in comparison to what normal glasses should feel like. So I am now looking up reviews. I am hoping his coworkers are just your standard, materialistic, spiritually bankrupt americans, that are obsessed with being angry and negative.

Well they are not lying if you qualify for the deal. But many eye prescriptions will not qualify.

America's Best cheated me out of $70. You talk about somebody being pissed 😡 off. Better Business bureau needs to investigate them, and stop them from advertising their commercials on TV. 69.95 for eye exams and glasses. It's a load of crap.

I'm very disgusted by this Industry and how it is common place to take advantage of the consumer. Bait AND Switch tactics.
I think we all need to start reporting them because it really is bait and switch. Their latest scam is, Pay for 2 years and get at least 2 appointments a year for free. But now every time I try to make an appointment there's no doctor there and one time they weren't even open. After I had made an appointment and went all the way there.
