This was just what I needed! I got my dress form yesterday, but it didn't really come with instructions to show me how to create the offset stand. And, I agree. That offset so you can fit pants is the best! Thank you so much for your wonderful tips!
I'm getting ready to order a dress form so I can sew dresses for my daughter. I have looked at numerous of dress forms and this one: "my double dress form" looks the easiest to assemble and for adjustments. I hope it works. I will be looking forward to seeing more of your videos - you give very good instructions, and I am only a novice sewist at best, so I will probably need lots more of instructions. Thanks again.
Thank you for this video about your form. I just bought this same Dritz dress form. I got it used/like new. I wish I would of found your video first before I did all the research. I loved how you showed how to set it up. I needed to see how you fitted it with a bra, padding and sleeveless shirt. It was helpful to see how to use the form. I thought how you explained how to measure yourself. Thank you again. I'm so excited to start using my form.
You are so welcome! I need to get back into making some garments myself and since this video was made three years ago, I'm no longer married and I've lost 60lbs. So I need to remeasure LOL
This was just amazing,I have a dress form that I have never used but now I am going to size it up to my size and get back into dressmaking thank you so much 😊
Thank You. I am just starting to sew clothes again. My body does not match ANY thing!! But I do not see a way to adjust the torso length front and back, or waist to crotch front and back. Mine are not nearly "Normal". I appreciate you and your helpfulness and treasure your suggestions. Thank You. btw, So excited for your new website. All in one place, easy access, quick response. So far, so good!!
Sue I have always thought to make my own shirts or dresses but never knew about how the dress form really works. This video is very helpful. Thank you for doing this video
Very nice video, I have just received my Double designer dress form. Looking forward to making close fit. I started sewing when I was 10. I also sewed my clothes in high school.
Thank you so much! I can’t wait to put mine together. This video is so very helpful! Congratulations on your marriage too! You and your hubby make a beautiful couple!
I just came across your channel in the nick of time. I bought a dress form, but with the gaps and such I was tempted to return it. Thanks for the tips on using the foam and T-shirt. I’ll give that a try. New subscriber here!
Thank You! Got my first dress form the other day. I’m a handy gal but the directions for assembling and adjusting were 14 sentences :( Finding your video was the best thing! Thanks again!!
thank you for the help. I have just been given for FREE an older model Dritz Twin-fit dressform. its slightly smaller in the waist and hips than I am so I need to pad it.
I really enjoyed your video. I have a similar form and think your idea of adding the batting over the openings is perfect. I do have a question and hope you may have some ideas for me. My form fits me when it is at it's lowest setting, except for the upper chest and shoulders, which are much too large. I wanted to cut them like you would cut a pattern to adjust and slide them inward. My husband says I will just ruin the form. Even for my granddaughter, when I enlarge it to fit her, it also enlarges the upper bust and shoulders making that area too large. For her, I could keep it small and add a bra with padding, I think. I bought this used and if I were buying a new one I would have bought the smaller sized and padded it. I was hoping this work. Do you have any ideas on how to make the upper bust/shoulder area work for me?
Used is great bc mine was $200 plus new but I’m not aware of any ways to cut down the forms without ruining it. I must agree with your husband. Sorry I’m sure it’s not the answer you were hoping for.
Hi - this is a fantastic video! I just have one question - why do you put a tight fitting shirt on it before fitting your clothes? I understood everything until then. I'm a beginner sewer, so It is probable obvious and I am just missing it. Thanks!
The tight fighting shirt helps do three things 1. Smooths out curves and bumps of any batting or the foam 2. Keeps everything in place. It doesn’t really effect my measurements either so it’s helpful. 3. Gives you a flat surface to pin to
Enjoyed video so much that you inspired me to finally make adjustments on my dress form I got for Christmas. Mine is not the same model but it is made by Dritz just not as fancy as yours. I did hit like button and subscribe to your Chanel. If I get any extra money I will upgrade like yours.
The foam is Soft and Stable from ByAnnie.com. You could also use another brand like Pellon has one and so does Bosal. Just don’t use the one with fusible
A large dress form has all the right measurements except my waist is larger. I’m still losing weight so what do you suggest I do buy or how to adjust the waist till I lose the weight?
Hi Sookie, I want to pad my dress form, and I was looking at the Soft and Stable that you use to cover up the gaps on your dress form. In your Amazon store it seems as if the Soft and Stable is 18” x 58” x 2” thick. However, in your TH-cam it seems as if the Soft and Stable is about 1/2 inch thick. Could you please let me know if you have the correct Soft and Stable listed in your store?
I just purchased my dress form today. I've been knowing how to sew since age 13 and can sew with or without a pattern. After college I pretty much stopped sewing altogether. The question I have is how to adjust the height?
Ok when i made mine the same size as my measurements and adjusted it with placing a bra on it etc everything thing i make is to big way to big…someone else suggested making form 1” smaller. So far it has worked for tops but I haven’t tried a dress or anything else…any rhyme or reason for this?

Thank you for this wonderful video Sue. I am more likely to purchase a dress form now than I was before because of your demonstration. 😊💙💙
Awesome. It’s been so many years since I even wanted one but now this one makes it so I can get the form to look like me :) curves and all lol

Thanks for the tips! After two years I’m advancing my skills and really needed this video to get my dress form to my own size!
That’s wonderful! I really do love these adjustable forms. It is like a mini me :) it can go up and down (just like I can do) 😂
Thank you for your tutorial on this 😊I’m excited to get mine next month.
Yay! Love mine

Out-STANDING Video!!! Thank you so much! This is exactly what I was looking for!
Thank you! I’m so glad you enjoyed it.
I had no idea before what the other pole inside the dress form was for. Thanks!
Glad I could help!

What a score!! Free is always best. Glad I could help.
Thanks! I lost my instructions and couldn’t remember how to lengthen the waist so thank you very much!
Yay I’m glad I could help!
Thank You for this video. Back to assembling my girl!
You are welcome. Love mine!!
What a great instructional video!!
Thank you!!
Thank you for your video, easily the best I've seen 🙂
Wow thank you! We sure had fun making this video and i love my dress form.
Thanks for this video, Sookie. I have wide shoulders. Any tips on how to adjust/pad the shoulders accurately?
I would pad the shoulders out with the foam. Instead of getting a sleeveless shirt, I'd get a t-shirt and cover the dress form.
Thanks for the great instructions; however, once I put the pole in the right position, how do you actually put the pants on the dressform?
Slip the pants on the pole and then put the dress form back on. It’s not super convenient but it does work.

Yay!! You’re gonna love it.
Hi sookie .I live in montreal canada
.can you tell where did you buy the foam and what size is it. thank you. keep up the good work
I got mine from Amazon, I believe there is a link in the description. Good luck. I love mine
Great video, thanks Sue!
Thank you for being apart of the live :)

Thank you for this very informative video !!! I think I need a dress form now .!!
You’re very welcome. :) let me know if you get one!! You can also use the links in the description to buy one direct from Amazon :)
@@SookieSews thank you 😊
This is a great review, thank you!

I just wanted to say thank you for showing me how to fill in the gaps I almost gave up

the foam I am asking about is the one you use for the sides.
The foam is Soft and Stable from ByAnnie.com. You could also use another brand like Pellon has one and so does Bosal. Just don’t use the one with fusible
Getting inspired to want to sew clothes once again.
Yay!! That is the idea. 2021 is my year for making clothes :)
A large dress form has all the right measurements except my waist is larger. I’m still losing weight so what do you suggest I do buy or how to adjust the waist till I lose the weight?
I'd buy smaller and pad out the waist. Then as you loose weight you can remove the padding :)

I think what you're looking at is the packaging dimensions. I promise this is thin as it is shown.

I just purchased my dress form today. I've been knowing how to sew since age 13 and can sew with or without a pattern. After college I pretty much stopped sewing altogether. The question I have is how to adjust the height?
There is a twisting (two part) system on the pole.
@@SookieSews Thanks, I can't get the height to stay up no matter how tight I think I've tightened it.
Oh no. I wonder if you have a bad piece. Maybe reach out to whoever you bought it from
Fabulous. Thank you.
You’re welcome. Glad it helped!
Thanks for this! 🤗

Not sure. You saw me do mine and it worked. Just remember that your front might be different than your back measurement.
😆 Didn’t expect the humor too. You missed your calling.
So glad you enjoyed those parts 😂
Thanks
You’re welcome
Thank you! Best video on dress forms I’ve seen so far before I choose and buy.
So glad to hear. Thanks
I ended up covering mine also and padding it instead of adjusting it. They’re so hard for pinning
Glad it’s worked for you :)
Nice 🤙🏾
I am short waisted, so how does that get taken into considerations when using a dress form?
Me too! The dress form is a little short waisted and that’s why you can lengthen the waist but for me the waist “as is” the as great.
@@SookieSews thank you
I had the same question! Thanks
Why doesn't anyone measure the shoulder width and how to adjust. Mine is 6 inches to narrow so how to expand?
I’m having the same problem!! I suppose we will have to pad the shoulders??
@@KaterinaBuscemi my thoughts exactly. Bx
I’d do the same. Pad the dress form as needed
Where did you get
This was a couple years ago but when I got it was in Amazon and there is a link in the description
So focused
I sure try
