    Does the aluminium sulfate reduce the alkalinity to the pool watter?

      That I am not sure.

    I have to say, hearing an ad for Leslie's was super strange for me, but that's because I work there. Didn't realize we partnered with anyone like this

      Funny. Glad to be partnering with Leslie's and here to help. 👍

    NJ state requires the actual test in person

    Unless there's some other mechanism that im unaware of, cya and potassium alum cannot directly react. Either this guy just didn't measure the cya levels accuracy or he's trying to pedal a product that doesn't help. In either case of me being wrong or him being wrong I think the most proven non-draining method of lowering cya is with an enzyme. (Though I haven't heard good results unless you have your water perfectly balanced and babysit your water through the process)

      That’s what Pool Professionals are for! 🤔

      From the reports it seems to work. Worth a try if you are in an area where draining is not an option. But I prefer to drain a pool to lower CYA as a default.

      @@SPL "anecdotes are not science" anyway thanks for bringing in all these different people on your podcast. I've watched a fair few of your episodes and they're all very informative. Ever since I started listening and following what is said here my pool has been nothing but crystal clear

      Potassium alum? Aluminum sulfate does not contain potassium. Science is based on experimentation and measured observation which is what Rudy has done here. My anecdotal evidence proves to me that cyanuric acid can be reduced significantly using the alum method, saving a lot of water, time, and effort.

      @@UBGood as a pool technician/proffesional even we can run into problems controling cya levels. It's best to get a hold of it early before the water and weather heat up.

    Can a robotic pool vacuum pick up the sludge?

    • @SPL
      @SPL  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. That wouldn't work.

    How often do you normally have to add cya to the pools on your route

    • @UBGood
      @UBGood 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yimmyraw69 depends on the test results. Adding CYA is not a weekly, monthly or even yearly item to add, unless u are losing water, by overfilling, leaks, storms, etc.
