    Medvedev looks scary good. I don’t think anyone can beat him other than Nadal and Of course even Nadal would be underdog. But Nadal plays so many slices which throw Medvedev off his game and he has a powerful forehand that can do some damage. But God damn it, Danill looks like a 2011 Djokovic. Returns everything, Moves like a Cheetah and his shots have so much depth.

      Those crosscourt backhands aren’t laser like. They were actually pretty average paced and stiff. Kyrios has horrible footwork and preparation on his backhand and pretty much bunts it back. It’s Roddick’s stiff backhand with worse footwork. Medvedev can hit it huge but wasn’t really hitting it as big as usual this match.

    • @Alfredul03
      @Alfredul03 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      That's called strong mental consistency and Medvedev is an expert in that. I think the Australian tennis public is clamoring for an excellent player in this beautiful sport. And I think they still believe in Kyrgios and his game, but he was already very clear that his favorite sport has been, is and will be basketball, Well, notice the shirts he uses in each game and tournament, it's evident. It's a shame, because he sees that he is very talented, but it's something that he plays for pleasure and to earn money, but not for passion, if he had the latter, it would be another story. IMHO! 💪🏻🎾

      He is not playing with passion or concern. If he was, he would get into shape (drop about 15 to 20 lbs) & he could actually go far into the 2nd week of grand slams. He would rather just be a lifetime average player who gets headlines for his antics, on & off the court, than actually putting in the work that it takes to be a top 10 player like he could be. Sure he has tremendous talent and can be easily anywhere in the top 10, but he’s doing it in his own way. Hate him or love him, he’s gotten a big chunk of success with fans, sponsors, etc with not even being top10. A lot of players in the tour are talented, but it’s like you guys said, he needs to find a way to get up there. @turbotaquitogoogle8095 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I get your sentiment (we could all use some escapism from the constant hell of the "real world") but like it or not, politics are relevant in all facets of life. Sport especially has always been politically relevant, especially international sport (like the Olympics).
      Some examples of how politics in tennis is inevitable: Osaka wasn't being political per se when she wanted to skip press conferences, but conservative pundits around the world attacked her for it, making it political. Similarly, Djokovic wasn't being political per se when he didn't get vaccinated, but it became an international issue with the Australian government, also making it political. This isn't a new thing, think back to Billie Jean King and women's fight for equal pay for possibly the biggest example.
      Guess my argument here is to stop hoping that tennis and politics won't mix. They always have, and they always will. Tennis exists in the real world, and the real world is inherently political. As to your other points, I agree entirely, but don't have the energy to write out an entire paragraph to explain why, so I'll leave it at that :)

      @@DanielBoonelight Well, there are plenty of dumb asses out here in the comment section who still think Kyrgios is great.

    To be honest, this was a really fantastic display of talent from Kyrgios, I mean if that break point in the first game of the fourth went his way (and he actually played it superbly), things would have been harder for medvedev. But anyway those are just "if"s , but this match was enjoyable, and I think Nick can still deliver if he's motivated enough

    Great to see an original "bad boy", since Ilie Nastase retired. The Aussie crowd came to see Nick.

    As soon as Kyrgios started to get steamrolled, he started moaning loudly. You can hear this especially at 5:25 up until he hits a winning forehand at 5:29. Then he gets quiet again. It seems moaning loudly was an attempt to get the crowd on his side (in lieu of actually winning), and because it was the only thing he COULD do. As soon he felt on top again, he got quiet.

    Claramente juegan partidos diferentes.. Uno a ganar el partido y otro al publico.
    Pero el talentoso siempre pasa de ronda

    I don't understand how the whole crowd is supporting one player with all their might while such muted applaud for the other....unbelievable discrimination and disrespect for such a talented tennis player that Medvedev is....
