    I prefer Lucas Red And Tacky. I use it on my commercial Zero turn and loader pins, on tractors and farm implements. On my boat and trailer wheel bearings I use Lucas marine grease. I've been using both for several years. I think opinions on grease are just that opinions. More important is you actually grease things. These battery grease guns make that much easier. Great video thanks

      @MarkThomasBuilder  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you, I always used marine grease on my boat trailer. I sold it a few years ago and hope to buy another one someday. I agree that actually using the grease is the most important thing.

    I am wondering about the "priming trick" and see there are several comments below about "wishing I knew of this trick."
    What is wrong with using the primer release valve that is built into the grease gun?
    I have several hand operated grease guns with a primer valve and they have all worked well for me.
    Just curious if I am missing something here.

    I've had this grease gun for 6 years now and always had trouble priming a new refill. I hear a little @5:50 about this pulling rod out and turning it to push air out, I wish there was more talk on that part cause I never heard of that before, like how is that rod staying out just by turning it, nobody seems to expand on that part and after 6 years of using this grease gun thats new to me..........

    How do you know when you've greased a given zert enough. Seems you just hold the trigger for 3 "grinds" or so, but don't see you looking at anything. Is that just experience that that is usually what it takes?

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's a great question. I often just do enough from experience. Some items I grease show some grease flowing out in other areas, like trailer bearings. 3 grinds seems like a good amount if you do it on a somewhat regular basis.

      Mine also does that and I haven't fixed it yet. I think it might have to do with it possibly being set up for bulk grease filling vs tubes. If I remember correctly you might have to reverse the follower so the lip faces the other direction for tube canisters. Hope that helps.

    Funny: presenting a Dewalt greasing gun with a Milwaukee jacket. Dewalt gun looks similar to my Milwaukee gun.
    Very easy when greasing the slewing ring on my mini exavator. Connect the gun on the ring and start greasing while sitting and turning onto the exavator.

    Is it actually worth forking out a few hundred dollars for? Gets to be a pain greasing the mini excavator by hand and I've been on the fence about one of these for a while but struggling to justify the price. However, I might just have to if it's worth it.

    • @MarkThomasBuilder

      Oliver Maskell, I have all Dewalt 12/20v tools. The grease gun is the only one I hate. I’ve wasted more tubes of grease trying to load it than I can count, and I use CAT Moly EP2 which isn’t cheap. Talked to Dewalt numerous times and they sent me a new cartridge which was no better. Lincoln started the electric grease gun revolution, and they’re still the best.

    • @russ3164
      @russ3164 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I will say it’s durable and the battery lasts quite awhile, even in winter in ND. Lots of power to push grease on cold mornings, I use about 5 tubes every day, changing the battery every few days. It can also take a pretty good throw across the jobsite whenever it blows out a brand new tube of grease while reloading it. This also happens a few times per week.

    • @olivermaskell6244
      @olivermaskell6244 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@russ3164 Cheers for the review, sounds like it's really not ideal for ultra heavy applications. I only have a 2 ton ex which isnt used daily, so wont be using anywhere near the same amount of grease as you. But definitely interesting to hear. Did Dewalt give an answer as to why it keeps blowing out tubes?? I too, run all dewalt tools and have no complaints with the others. Unfortunately here in New Zealand the Dewalt tools are all 18v and they dont make an 18v grease gun. But by the sounds it, that might not be a bad thing now.

    • @russ3164
      @russ3164 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They told me they’ve never heard of the problem before, but were quick to send a new tube for it. It worked a little better, but half the time you have to use a channel lock pliers to get it off, and it’s see through (once).
