I just bought a Gotek plug and play drive on eBay from a company that specialises in all sorts of samplers and hardware. Just let them know what your kit it you want the drive for and they do the rest. Got a 16gb SD card included and pre formatted. They’re easy to install and work straight away. No formatting or SD card partitioning needed. They cost between £50-70 for the drives. Cost difference is for slightly larger screens. Worked like a charm in my Akai S5000 and S3000xl. Easy to install and once fitted are really easy to use AND can load large samples with no bother. 👍🏼 They even load a bunch of samples for you as well.
Gotek emulates a floppy drive which means your samples can't be larger than the size of the floppy. With scsi-sd or Zulu you can save files of any size. Much better solution.
@@ClaireSweets "Gotek emulates a floppy drive", but your program can span multiple disc, correct? ... and still save them? Has been a while since i toughed my sampler.
amazing tut! thanks so much man! will it work also on scsi2sd v 5.5? i'll try later....UPDATE. On my MPC 2000XL the hdX.hda procedure works. The sampler reads the SCSI IDs but translator doesn't cause I don't have a .ini config file to put into.....does anyone know where to find?
Thanks for your video. Questions.. is it possible to get on the same microsd card main several akai ( s950,s1000,s3000,s5000 and mpc) samplers readable with multiple partions by translator and zuluscsi ? An all in one in fact. Thanks, Paulo
You sir are a god carnate. I've had a Zulu in my emu for a while. I'm writing to partitions fine but didn't figure how to add files from my pc. Thank you. Do you have a text script from these instructions? Thought it may help at getting powerscrpt stage.
thanx... pretty complicated, as u mentioned (i have done the installment for a mpc 2000 xl with an integrated zulu card, took me several days to get it working the way i want) do you use the free translator version or the pro one?
If you have Akai isos then do the following save yourself a headache and remove the file size limitations. Copy Akai ISO to sdcard change name of ISO to cd0 Put sdcard in Akai job done! You can have cd0,cd1,cd2,cd3,cd4,cd5,cd7 Skip #6 as that’s the device scsi id. 7 discs in total

@@AnalogDude_yes and they are also 100x slower. Zuluscsi is much better
Thanks for the detailed explanation, you saved me a lot of headaches 😂😂😂
Keep going man!
Thanks for the Translator tips. I had been using a folder shortcut hack to get the zulu drives to appear in virtual drives.
With the s5000 I was able to create a single 128gb drive. Took ages, but worth it.
Cool video, very informative

Pro one but it is still buggy unfortunately. But it does the job.
