- Hey everyone, so we have lots of food videos from our time onboard the P&O Arvia and have found the food to be great but the buffet is our least favourite place to eat and in general is quite a poor buffet both in selection and quality. This is our opinion anyway!
In this video though we do a full tour of the buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner to give you an idea of what to expect if you are onboard the ship and you want to eat here.
We also explain the opening times for the buffet as well as the best place to sit if you want to be somewhere more quieter. We also explain the drinks available throughout the day which are included in your cruise fare

So we've done 3 P&O cruises now and same again with the Buffet on the Arvia, poor in our opinion. Like we said in the video though not a reflection of the other food onboard the ship in which we thoroughly enjoyed. What do you guys think?
We've just been on the Britannia, had a scary day in PALMA😮 but we thought the food in the buffet looks good but has no taste or flavor. The main restaurants and the pay for restaurants were very very good.
Also when we was on Britannia they were test trialing the horizon magazine on the my holiday app.
On Arvia at moment in cartagena. Food in buffet is not too bad but for breakfast may as well go to Quays as quieter.
Eaten in limelight, sindu 6th Street and meridian so far and sindu was delicious as was limelight

In keel and cow later looks good food.

Have to agree with your honest review about the buffet, having done the same cruise in August on Arvia. We only ever went there for supper late in the evening, and even then there were massive queues before it opened!

We’re looking forward to tasting everything in 18 days time. We’ve cruised with P&O before ( Pre covid)..we liked most things in the buffet especially the afternoon tea and late night snack selection.. As you say there’s loads of other places to eat…we’re really looking forward to the fish n chips from the Quays too…

Hi Geoff and no we haven't done the Arcadia and yes we didn't think the buffet was great quality but it didn't bother us as there was so many other great places to eat 👍
Thanks for the video and I think I might pass when I go in a couple of weeks 😂..I was shocked 😳 with the price I have paid for one person. Never mind like you say there's other places to eat.😊
Free at Sea is fantastic as it almost pays for itself with the excursion discount (at each port no matter how many do you do!) And the premium restaurant slots.

I thought the buffet on Arvia was very poor on the Christmas cruise,It looks like a lot of improvements have been made since the maiden voyage. I hope the food was warmer as well. I was also surprised to see the amount of people not washing there hands or using sanitizer before using the buffet,and no crew to police that . Safe cruising.
Another great vlog ,thank you .i find in the buffet people cant walk and hold a tray and lose that coordination skill with no sense of direction plus ,have no sense of quantities ,I totally agree with Stacey about the selfish people picking up food with their hands
Haha 🤣 and yes couldn't believe how many people thought it was OK to use their hands and not only that but touch various items of food before deciding on which piece they wanted 🤮
Hiya. Really good review. Your reviews are really useful. Combined with my experience on Iona, will probably breakfast at the quays or that little area just round from the quays as they were really good on Iona. Not so keen on buffets generally, especially for breakfast as stuff tends to be tepid. And I found the food in the buffet on Iona was a bit meh. Clearly aria is no better. And the other dining rooms were so much better.

I had tried the late night buffet many times on our last cruise, well i will be honest most nights.
Its mainly what's left over from the evening buffet plus a meat or veg curry, fries, pizza, all the things that you should not be eaten at 12:30 in the morning but very nice.
Also would like to mention that very few people used the hand gel stations as you enter the restaurants

Hi they would fetch you drinks from the bar but it would only be the drinks covered in your drinks package or if you didn't have the drinks package then you would need to pay for any juices etc. Only at breakfast are they included
Agree the buffet on p&o ships really lets the line down. Often run out of the limited items available and quality is only ever just ok at best. Been on several p&o ships and it’s the same issue. I think it’s a shame as overall I like sailing with p&o and a meal wherever you choose to eat should be a high point of a cruise. Really great video too!

We only do buffet for lunch and late night. People make too much mess at breakfast ,particularly beans all over hot plate which I have a phobia of. Love the late night buffet though the hot chocolate is delicious.
That ‘lambs liver’ pictured was actually white pudding. Was on Arvia in March and never struggled for something decent to eat in the buffet
Best food I’ve found on the buffets on the two P and O ships so far is the Indian food. I had a cracking biriyani and lamb rogan Josh on Britannia

We have just returned from the same cruise on the Arvia. Our opinion is that the Horizon Buffet was .... not brilliant to be honest. I suppose it is 'mass catering' so wrong to expect too much but we likened it to a work canteen. We didn't go there much. We were excited by the tasty sounding menus in the Merdian/Zenith but they didn't quite deliver what they promised. It seemed everything was just a little bit short on flavour and seasoning. What we noticed is that only the special dining restaurants served food that you would look forward to eating again. The only dishes we remembered were from those restaurants. Unfortunately, the night we dined at The Epicurian was very 'choppy' so the meal was not as enjoyable as we had hoped but the service and presentation was top class. We found the Keel & Cow to be very good and the Glasshouse was our favourite. Sindhu was also excellent.
Forgot to say ... breakfast in the Quays and Fish & Chips ... delicious.

Hi Guys. Thanks for the info. A couple of questions about the buffet drinks. Firstly, is the coffee any good? It looks like an automatic been to cup machine 🫰🏻, and not some horrible Nescafé-type machine that some hotels offer. Secondly, is the orange juice any good?
Coffee was fine imo and as for the orange juice it was just your standard stuff. Not the worst we have tasted but obviously they don't use the premium stuff lol
The "is" that you were unsure of is actually "LS" for low sugar. For us diabetics.
Tbh as someone who doesn’t eat salt and hates pepper I think I will actually like the buffet food when am on this cruise 🚢 in the summer . I order everything without pepper 😂😂so for a high maintenance person ( lol 😝 am not really honest I just hate pepper) am looking forward to eating here . Plus am more of a cakes gal and there were some absolutely delicious looking bites here . Thank you for sharing your honest opinions and experiences it really helps xx ❤ xx
Never went to the buffet on Iona it was bedlam, couldn’t even move around so just used the quays or the Mdr. Wouldn’t even try on arvia would have to get up super early for it to be empty

Yeah it might of looked it but it had no flavour whatsoever! and someone could of broken their dentures on them carrots!! All the other eating places on the ship are lovely.
This video sums up my opinion, p&o do some great speciality food etc but p&o really can't do a buffet
The buffet on Iona and I assume Arvia is the some of the blandest selection of food ever put out to eat.

I agree with the comments about the buffet on Arvia. We were on at Christmas most of the food was cold . We couldn’t get to eat in the MDR . I’m not sure if I would hurry back on Arvia. Happy cruising.

Buffet sadly not good on any P&O ship and we been on most of them . Only advantage with Arvia and iona is you have the excellent Quays as an alternative . Excellent vlog 👌

Totally agree with you about the buffet on P&O. I try to eat low carb so mostly meat and I found it difficult unless you want to eat deli type meats and there is so much pastry !
Princess cruises has amazing buffets with lots of meats that aren't soaked in sweet sauces or wrapped in pastry. And their salads are incredible - so much choice. Fortunately P&O has so many great places to eat that can cater for us keto people. Good video. Thanks x
Thanks Gill and yes agree with you 100% about the meat on offer, not much choice. But like you said so many other great places to eat so we went there instead and really enjoyed them 😊
Would you say the buffet on Arvia was/is pretty much the same as on Iona?
Hi yes Emma it's pretty much the same. It was always full in the buffet so people obviously like it but it wasn't for us. Not great choice or quality but that's our opinion. All the other eating places on the ship were fantastic though 👌 just think the other cruise lines we have tried their buffets are far better, especially princess.
Well you learn something new, they have a section 😂😂😂😂 not a section I stop at!!
Iona's buffet is our worst food at sea so far, the quality was very poor. The evening buffet was just the leftover food under heat lamps, nearly inedible
Just got off the Azura and the food was dismissal. Was very disappointing

For such a huge ship, that buffet looked dreadful. Probably just as well there are places like The Quays. The selection looks poor considering the other issues with the app that might force people into the buffet who would otherwise be wishing to eat in the MDR. I'll finish with three words (again, because we know why) - Virtuosa. Pizza. Bread.
Do they have the grab and go snack fridges on Arvia?
Hey they did but there was never anything in them for the whole 2 weeks

About the same really, luckily on Arvia there was lots of other places to eat at 👍
Such a shame P&O buffets have gone to the dogs. Our first cruise was on Oceana a few years ago and the buffet was lovey. Been on Britannia twice and Iona once. Buffet food terrible. No taste, no chose. Cakes all taste the same. Just sweet. Such a shame
I think the price of the cruise the food looks ok but why or why do people eat so much food on a cruise. I personally after a few days certainly eat a lot less!!!

Buffet on Arvia was shocking, very little choice,. We didnt go for main meals, had their version of afternoon tea in afternoon. Some cakes were ok, some tastless and all had a lot of gelatin in them
We thought the buffet was really good, but, you really needed to time it carefully or it was busy, this can really make or break your experience..The thing that spoils everything is people, not queing, not using tongs to pick up food, dropping food into counters/floor, the mess left on tables can be disgusting etc.. Shame on them, these staff are worked hard enough.. Oh and a note on TEA... I drink earl grey and sometimes it was there sometimes they said it had run out, then it came back, this is annoying when you only drink one type of tea...
Oooo I ( Stacey) love Earl Grey but Kev doesn't like it lol.
If I saw someone using their hands to pick up food I would be mortified. 🤢 I don’t think the buffet is my cup of PG.😁

We are going on arvia in about a month. I do find your videos are concerning me slightly as all the ones about the ship seem really negative. We have cruised with p&o twice before once on ventura and once on brittania and have really enjoyed both including the buffet . I hope that it is just a case of different tastes being different and not that we are heading for a disapointing holiday.
Have you seen the rest of our videos where we say everything that we liked about the ship? Or did you actually hear the part in this video where we said it doesn't reflect the rest of the food on the ship as it was really nice?
@@OneCouplesAdventure I have watched some of the videos about the ports you visited which are similar to the ones we are visiting which were helpful and how I came across your channel. I watched the video where you summed up the overall experience and while there were some positives it again seemed like your experience of the ship was more negative than positive. As we have quite young children we have on previous cruises found the buffets the easiest places to eat which it why I am now a bit concerned
@rachelo7094 that's just our opinion about the buffet. We did a video about the Olive Grove that we really liked but others told us they didn't like it. Everyone is different and we all have different tastes. I wouldn't get concerned about our opinion, just go on and try to make the most of it, and you can then form an opinion for yourself.
I was on Iona a couple of weeks ago, and the custard in the buffet was the worst thing I have ever eaten! Tasted like dishwater!

Good afternoon Stacey and Kev. Sometimes when they say "spicy" I think they are saying it has bold spice flavor. Not so much "hot" spicy. I love garlic as well. I use alot of it when cooking. So much that when we have family get together's and I offer to make something. My family tell's me to cut back on the amount of garlic I use. 🧄 😂. It's a shame dinner was not that good. It amazes me how you look at something and think, I bet that's delicious because of the way it looks. Then you taste it and wonder what happened.
