So what are your thoughts about gala/formal nights? Do you like to dress up or keep things more casual? And do you look forward to the food in the MDR or do you prefer the buffet/speciality restaurant
My dad loved buying a new tux and dicky bow when we went on MSC gala night. It is very rare to be able to this now. I loved seeing the outfits on other passengers. But we we're traveling from Southampton and not flying - I think it's more difficult if your flying with case allowance... I'm normally a Jean's and t-shirt on holiday but enjoyed dressing up for one night.
dressing up! It's so rare to have opportunities to do this now and I go all out black tie/white tie dress code. It's so much fun and really marks the occasion as something special to enjoy yourselves with you loved ones.
I am really lucky to actually find your clip which randomly came to my feed!! It was really my honor to have you two sit with me. I will definitely pass your comments to the chef about the food hahaha!! I hope that you had a great cruise! And I hope that sometime in the future I will run into you again! Those 9 months were tough for me, yes but it is because of guests like yourself it went smoothly! Thank you so much again for your comments! It really means a lot! ♥♥
Hi you two. I like getting dressed up a little. Don't have the chance to do it as often at home. I actually got the chance to climb the steps and pour some champagne on that tower. It was so fun. I liked the food in the MDR on Princess. The food all looked good! Always like a good show. Thank you! PS, you both look good 👍
I’m so much like you and would rather be in my skinnies and a T. Add that to the pressure of putting yourself on the internet… just wanted to send some love 🖤
Just discovered your channel a couple of weeks ago and me and my wife , Yvonne , are bingeing on your vlogs - you're a lovely fun couple and we're really enjoying them - we've never been on a cruise but we're thinking about it !
Really enjoying your vlog series. I've been on a few cruises over the years (mainly Mediterranean and Caribbean) and I tend to avoid formal nights. Just my preference. There's always been plenty of alternatives anyway I guess when I'm away on holiday I just don't want to have to wear suit, shirt n tie. Must say I think I would love an Alaskan cruise. That's now on my bucket list! 😊😊
Thanks so much Jonathan and fair enough, its your holiday so you've got to do what suits you best and what your most comfortable with. And yes we would definitely recommend a Alaska cruise 😁
You both look absolutely lovely, another great informative video. Really enjoying them. Love how down to earth you both are ( sorry I know I keep telling you this but you are lol)
Enjoyed the Gala Evening, Stacey and Kev. Impressive stacking of champagne glasses. Even more impressive of the young lady dancing with a platter of them on her head! But, the absolute most impressive was the lovely young lady having her photo with the Captain! I've relayed my thoughts before on getting dressed up again since retiring. Have done it very little and want to keep it that way. They can put me in a suit when they plant me. Won't argue at all! While still here we always love a buffet, but the food here looked delicious. Great show too! Thanks for bringing us along.
Princess and RCI have the best formal nights by far.. We quite enjoy them, its nice to stick the glad rags on for an evening.. means you can wear a Tux, drink a martini and pretend you're James Bond
Love your self deprecating humour even though I have little interest in P&O your vlogs are both entertaining & informing in equal measure Keep up the good work really enjoying the journey & your feedback Thank you😊
Great video! We love princess cruises, and have a Norway cruise coming up on Sky (sister ship to Discovery). With regards to the shows, as you say, they’re not ‘bookable’, it’s more to serve as a reminder to yourself as to what you’re interested in doing (same as all of the other activities on the planner). I believe you can now have a reserved spot if you have the princess premier package, but these are then released to all passengers about 5 minutes before show starts if they haven’t been used.
Again another fantastic vlog. When watching i was thinking about the entertainment and lo and behold you mention it. You wanted me to let you know about Anthem of the seas. Hubby and i haven't been on RCI for many years and felt that on this company we were most comfortable, well I'm happy to say they didnt disappoint . Spotless. Our standard balcony cabin on deck 12 was really big for the two of us. And a good size balcony too. The places we visited were a bit well not so good. The buffet breakfast in Windjammer was really good. Main restaurant was good as well. The shows were amazing we had the gift and we will rock you. (Saw WWRY ) twice it was that good. Belated happy birthday Stacey as well. Glad Alaska is what you expected and it looks so amazing Take care guys Therese xx
Lots of really useful information. We will be experiencing formal nights for the first time on our Royal Caribean Crusie in just over a month. You both look very smart! the atrium show looked awesome. New subscriber here.
I love your videos so much! I’m going on the Discovery later this year so I’ve done lots of research. The days between your uploads have been killing me! 😂 #nopatience
Another fab video guys. Just booked a New England and Canada cruise on Enchanted Princess.....plus 5 days in New York before we embark.... Conna wait xx
You two looks great ! I heard Princes has done away with the strict formal code. I’m bring nice shirts and a tie for my two formal nights on Crown to Alaska in two weeks. Food looked great , I love Crème brûlée also. I will do two. Lol Thanks your Prepping me for my Alaska Crown cruise in two weeks. Thanks you two!
Honestly i couldn't believe the amount of people in walking boots and fleece jumpers. If i knew i could of just worn my normal shirts i wear i would of just taken that. The suit took up so much space in our case which i needed for more warm clothes lol. You will have a great time though we loved cruising with princess
Hi Claire and yes of course I don't mind saying 😁. I first went this colour at a hair salon as I'm naturally a light brown colour. Red fades quick though and it was very pricey to maintain so i now just use the live intense in colour mango twist. Gets me the exact same results and alot cheaper 😁 bonus lol. I've Been many colours over the years but have had this for a long time now. No other colour makes me feel like me if that makes sense lol 😁
If I am on a Caribbean cruise, I will bring a suit and tie and wear it on formal nights. However, when you are taking a 30 day back to back to cruise through Alaska and Hawaii, I need to have a full complement of cold weather clothing as well as warm weather clothing. There is no room for a suit. Besides, on Alaskan cruises, there are very few people who actually dress up. We will do the same thing next year when we are on the Discovery Princess Seattle - Singapore as we do not want to carry additional luggage that we will not wear in the tropical climate of Singapore and the Philippines.
We have just booked the DIscovery Princess for Alaska and we were wondering what day the captains speech with champagne tour was roughly? Also which dining room did you prefer? Thank you, we really like your videos.
Hi thanks so much and both the MDR'S we used were nice but the skagway was midship and the Ketchikan was at the back so had slightly more nicer views of the ocean. Cant go wrong with either though 😁 and regarding the Captains speech it was the First full sea day
Greetings from Kelso Washington state. Are there any Blues music being played on the Discovery cruise to Alaska? I'm going in September. Jazz is sometimes ok for me and I have no interest in musicals. Thanks.
What time roughly was the champagne toast and captains welcome speech? We have a 6:00pm dinner reservation and I wouldn’t want our daughter too miss meeting the captain. Thank you!
Great video. Thank you for the information! Question: Would you book the specialty restaurants or just stay with the main dining? Is it worth it? Is the food really that different and better? We're sailing in December. Thank you so much!
Hi this was our 6th cruise and the only one where we didn't feel like we needed to do any speciality restaurants as we thought the included food available was fantastic. We will have a buffet video coming out soon and there was so much choice also on that. Maybe when we sail on princess again we would try one or if we did a 2 week one but we didn't see it necessary for us on the week we were on
@OneCouplesAdventure Thank you again for the answer to my question. Our travel agent told us that specialty restaurants were not necessary as there were enough choices in the included dining on the Princess. She said the buffet menu changes nightly as well.
All advertising for any cruise ship always makes it look like it’s more dressed up than what happens in reality.. even if you look at their advertising, they have the people swanning around in cocktail dresses, men in suits, things like that.. that’s not what it’s really like
So what are your thoughts about gala/formal nights? Do you like to dress up or keep things more casual?
And do you look forward to the food in the MDR or do you prefer the buffet/speciality restaurant
I get dressed up every night I love it ,if I'm tired may have a night off 😊
I'm with Kev i don't like dressing up why do i have to please other people and feel uncomfortable doing it.
I will wear nice black jeans and a nice sweater And black shoes Some jewelry. That's about as dressed up as i get!!!
dressing up! It's so rare to have opportunities to do this now and I go all out black tie/white tie dress code. It's so much fun and really marks the occasion as something special to enjoy yourselves with you loved ones.

No thank you for all the hard work you and the rest of the crew do on these cruise ships. We had the best time on the Discovery Princess 😁
Thanks for the informal take on formal night. It is very helpful to get a real view, not an Instagram illusion of what to expect 👍😊
Thank you
Looking good good night thank you for sharing

Kev did not look too impressed by the Jazz 😂! Another great vid guys, and you both looked very sharp in your gala wear.
I saw the Rock Opera on board Emerald Princess last year & I cried as it was so good.
Itchy or not, you looked beautiful Stacey 😊
Arrr thanks so much 😁
I’m so much like you and would rather be in my skinnies and a T. Add that to the pressure of putting yourself on the internet… just wanted to send some love 🖤

Thanks so much and we've always been down to earth and always will be, it's just who we are and how we were brought up 😁
Everything looks much higher in standards than P&O . Happy cruising.
Yes it was brilliant, our favourite gala evening on a ship so far
And higher prices
Love the tumbnail, Captain John Smith 😂😂😂
Haha that really was his name. He was a great captain, very funny lol

Great video! Surprised you said fires instead of chips!
Haha we always want to say chips 🤣
Great video! How did you get the fries? Do they have a sides or kids' menu? Thanks for bringing us on the ship!
Hi we just asked them and they didn't mind getting us some
Nice, thank you!!! @@OneCouplesAdventure

I’m going in November so this is so helpful! I don’t want to overpack or underpack
Have a great time, not too long now 😁
kev's "but anyway, on to the BREAD" made me cackle 😂
Haha 🤣
Hi both great video till you showed eating the duck, we have 2 pet ducks couldn't watch lol had to turn away xx
Oh no 🙈 oops 😬 😁
Stacy - your hair is a fabulous colour. If you dye it would you mind telling me the colour and brand? Sorry had to ask 😂😂
Thank you so much. My natural colour sounds similar to yours so I will give it a go. Thanks for the vlogs. Xx
To be fair i thought it was a potato wedge when i first saw it too😂
Haha not just me then 🤣

Hi, we didn't when we were on, but the Entertainment can differ all the time so it could well be different when you sail
you both look so lovely . i like to dress up but each to their own x
What time roughly was the champagne toast and captains welcome speech? We have a 6:00pm dinner reservation and I wouldn’t want our daughter too miss meeting the captain. Thank you!
Think it was about 6PM - 6:30 PM, we had the same problem as we wanted to dine at that time but didn't want to miss out on the Captain either
Thank you so much. I’m assuming this formal night was on the first sea day before arriving in Alaska?
Oohhh the guy singing dream weaver. No o, no.
I noticed that everyone seems dress a bit more casual on the Alaskan itineraries.
Yes they are probably using their luggage allowance for big coats and thick jumpers instead 👍
Very handsome there kev xxx
😁
You look fab
Thanks 😊

Been telling you for months Princess knock spots off P&O.. 😂 And for all the bad press they get I’d put MSC somewhere in the middle.
Yes we were very impressed with Princess, will definitely be doing another
Girl, your hair!!!!
☺️ thanks
