It’s crazy to think I live 8 miles away from their HQ and still don’t own a knife from them. Gonna get myself one this week!

I have this knife to and have had it for about 6 months, really like it, just sand paper and the handles were not sharp anymore. A couple of minutes and it's a comfortable knife all round. 👍

I took a razor knife and very lightly scraped the internal edges of my handle scales to knock down the sharp edges. Feels great now.

Just did that with some scissors today. The minute I opened mine. ✂️👍🗡️

You need to disassemble it and bend the compression bar out SLIGHTLY. It should fix your issue with vertical blade play.

Love this knife but half my blade was covered with scratches at like the 3 month mark. Yours looks great for 1 year.

For whatever reason, I have the weirdest luck with what Spyderco folders pick up scratches and what ones don’t seem to care about tons of abuse. My AUS8 delica has almost no scratches despite being used for a couple decades. On the other hand, I picked up a VG-10 delica a few years later that is scratched to hell. My BD1N manix has been a beater knife for years and the stone wash has held up perfectly. However, a BD1N UKPK in my rotation has picked up scratches that look like I used Brillo to clean the blade. I’ve had even more varied results with s30v, s35vn, and s45vn. It’s bizarre.

Zero vertical play on mine, you should get it fixed

Have this one as my light EDC for when my Manix 2 is too Heavy. Mines only issue was the action was too tight but a quick pivot adjustment and it's perfect now.
Then I have the Urban Leaf for when I go into Boston due to their 2.5 inch law.

I may be late to the party, just got this and this knife is awesome, and it falls shut perfectly. It's just built a little differently, but I love the weight.

I agree there needs to be a lc200n version even if it’s yellow. Though I really hope it’s not.

The blade is off center because there’s only one washer, it’s supposed to be that way.

It's not got any liners hence you'd expect it to loosen up over time. It's the FRN that bends to give lock rock.

Yeah but with a lifetime warranty. It’s doubtful it’s going to have many issues. They do a ton of testing

I’m not sure if I said that in the video because I made it a while ago, but I don’t think I ever pried either this knife

I really dislike FRN scales. The PM3 light weight has pluses. For one the wire clip is great. With the light weight you are stuck with the FRN scales. The scales of a light weight are not interchangeable with the regular PM3. But one can exchange the blade from a light weight PM3 to a regular PM3. Thus I recently purchased a pre-order lightweight with yellow FRN scales Magnacut blade from KnifeCenter. 😁 I have an extra regular PM3 with S30V blade I’m going to swap and replace the scales with the flytanium lotus carbon fiber scales for the ultimate Frankenstein spyderco PM3.

You mentioned several things about this knife I also don`t like . The blade centering is ridiculous for what this knife costs. I have several Ganzo knives that cost between $25 and $30 that have perfect blade centering. I am not badgering Spyderco I am a big fan of theirs and have been for over 20 years. I own around 75 of them and this is the first one I have ever bought that has these problems. I have a regular Para 3 and it is perfect just like the 3 PM 2 knives I have. I do like the blade and the edge holding properties of BD1N it is pretty impressive. I do think though for the money they charge for the Para 3 lightweight it should have S30v steel. As far as the back of the handles being sharp you are right they are. I took a small file and in less than 2 minutes took care of that. I was careful and you can`t even tell I did it. In my opinion this knife should have full liners like the Sage 5 lightweight. That knife is one of my favorites and is as close to perfect as you can get. Yes its a little heavier because of the full liners. Seems like that tells the tale on the Para 3 LW it is a bad design. Take Care, good video.

Yeah I agree with you on the centering issue. I think only having one washer and no liners really messed up the internals of the knife. it saved like one ounce so I don’t think it was even close to worth it. I am thinking about trying to mod this knife out. Maybe do an acid etch stonewash on the blade and get some titanium hardware. Thanks for watching👍

Awesome detailed review. It must be just me, but I'm struggling to put a fine edge on this steel. I have no problems with my other steels or knives at all and have been freehand sharpening for years. Also when I do, it doesnt seem to last long. Everyone says how it has good retention and takes a keen edge. Thinking its got to be an steel issue just with mine, cant explain it otherwise. Love the knife otherwise, good stuff!

    • @itsaknifestyle8482
      @itsaknifestyle8482  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Sometimes knives from big production companies like Spyderco come with fatigued steel from the factory. Sometimes they don’t come up sharp because the steel you are sharpening is overheated and doesn’t act like the steel should. I would suggest dulling your knife and resharpening it maybe 2-3 more times. This should get enough of the bad steel off and the edge should come up better.
If you have sharpened it a ton of times, and it still won’t come up right you might have a heat treat issue. I hope I was helpful, thanks for watching
