BigBang is king not only by popularity but because they changed the industry to the core . Their influence is eveywhere you see in kpop. The way people sing, dress, mini album , lightstick, teasers for new song. VIP are all ages and there are many male fans. At these point we even have children of VIP . Like Haruto from new group Treasure is the son of a japanese VIP
They are the king by popularity though. Their fandom age ranges so wide and so big. They only got "less" fans/popular after they started to go to the military and went on hiatus. Also with the stupid scandals that was going on.

@@imightbegone3460 BIGBANG have toured in the US since 10 years ago with their Alive tour and the tickets sold out, they started the kpop revolution back then and then came BTS and BP. The only thing that helped these new groups to become mainstream was a wider use of social media, streaming platforms and record label’s making it easier to get their music since they’re mass producing their albums worldwide. Their fan base ages range from 16 and beyond. I’ve met grannies that even attend their concerts with their daughters and grandkids, they’ve established themselves as legends.

BUT BIGBANG are titled the Kings of Kpop because of their massive success and huge contributions to KPOP and their influence. Like bts was not known at all when BIGBANG and EXO were active. Like even before the wide use of soc.med which is mostly how kpop groups are known now, through soc.med. popularity ex.TH-cam views. But yeah, you never heard of them since they never promoted in the US.. tho they always have sold out concerts in the US.

From a non Korean and non Kpop fan. Big Bang is legendary. Their music, style and performance is something I cant find in other kpop idols. No doubt the others are really good but they are on their own. The superstar, rockstar aura and presence are in their DNA and they are mad talented. Now unpopular opinion, I love BTS too for their mad talent and the fact that they also created something totally different from their OG's.

This is MAMA 2015, a year after MAMA 2014 where GD and Taeyang got invited and GDragon DISSED.MAMA.ON.THE.SPOT with his instant rap (made just before he performed). And guess what? He and Bigbang still got invited the next year (this performance), and MAMA 2015 is YG's artist last attendance, bcs they got sick already of MAMA. You should check them on MAMA 2014, and read the translation of the rap lyric first so you got the message

I agree. GD X Taeyang's MAMA 2014 performance is one of my fave moments. Only the 2 of them performed but they can bring the house down, just pure talent. CL and 2NE1's MAMA 2015 is also good. They are the female counterpart of BigBang, the Baddest K-POP Girl Group.

Fyi, Paris Goebel has worked with many YG artists such as BigBang, Blackpink, CL, 2ne1, Ikon. They had lot of collab with other artist before. Even GD performed at Justin Bieber concert. Maybe you should checkout

I am 63 years old this year and I discovered BigBang this February. I am addicted. They give me the same feeling of the rock groups of my generation - Led zepellin, America, Chicago, Journey, Earth Wind and Fire, Toto, Santana, and the jamming sessions of Eric Clapton with George Harrison, Tom Petty and their gang. I can only tolerate rap if it is from BigBang. Maybe this answers partially your question of the age range? and also the fans just keep on growing. Scandals may affect the Korean fans but the international fan base is huge. Do not judge by streaming or whatever, many of us don't bother with that.
Just an early notice for you guys, if you both want to dig more about bigbang, don't give up if you found the MV's boring (its actually impossible, they always come with a story behind it).. because their Live Performances at concerts is WAYYYYYYYY MORE LIT. They always have live band with them called Band Six (last time worked with BlackPink in their last tour). They always rearranged their song every for concert, and you'll never get bored with it. After this, I strongly recommend you to watch their tour reports from official account first

I have been a VIP (fandom name) for almost 10 years. I was in my 30’s when I started liking them. I have seen them in concert. The concert was filled with people of all ages, races & lots of fan boys.
ROYAL FAMILY PERFORMED WITH 2NE1, QUEENS OF KPOP, SAME AGENCY WITH BIGBANG, ON THAT SAME EVENT. HOPE YOU CAN REACT TO THEM AS WELL. THEY ARE THE FEMALE VERSION OF BIGBANG. THEY ARE THE DEFINITION OF BADASS

I always knew bigbang but never really got into them until recently,when they announced that they are performing at coachella,and now I'm obsessed. The fun part about BIGBANG is that they are attractive to all ages and genders. There is no age limit. I am a fan and i am 21. I know fans who are 14 and ai know fans who are 30 to 40. If you see their concerts you see all ages. I thinks that shows what BIGBANG is. They are not their to feed teenage fantasies. They are the ideal superstar for all ages.

Big Bang created a lot of the things kpop has now. They created and started the personalized lightstick before ppl used to just use glow sticks but they (G-Dragon) came up with making their personalized lightstick that represented them and their fan base. They also created the idea of having a higher pitch rapper and lower tone rapper in a group. They were also the ones who broke many barriers in the kpop industry be it fashion or music wise Big Bang were the reason why groups now have the freedom to experiment and try any type of concept they very well please with and not just stick to the norm. They broke many norms in Korea they were the rebels and that’s why people loved them because they never let anything or anyone tell them how they should be or act. That’s why when people say that other groups paved the way for kpop it gets big bangs fans upset because Big Bang went through so much for newer kpop fans to just give somebody else that title. They’re literally the idols of idols and that was given by other idols themselves. Idols even in this new generation still say that G-Dragon and Big Bang is their inspiration. Once you see Big Bang and everything they have done you get to see how they really did influence a lot of the way in kpop. They’re literal kings

Honestly, I grew up with Bigbang so I'm their age and at their concert in Anaheim, the age group was 10- 70... Every stage is passionate, I think it's why they don't look lazy for not having strong choreo. I look foward to more Bigbang reactions
This MAMA Performance is also one of my faves but this is usually how they perform. Their live stages are amazing. What we usually say is that they turn the awards show into their concerts and each of their concerts are one big party. Gosh I miss seeing them live. From the first time I saw them live in their Alive concert tour, I realize they are worth every cent I paid. I was so lucky I was able to watch them several times. They are so worth it, the experience is just incredible.
But they are a group that others would love to hate. I think because they are more free (than others in the kpop industry) to do what they want - the artistic freedom, when they talk candidly about things, they don't hide that they smoke, and they become involved in some "scandals" which usually becomes the end for some artists. It puzzles people how they are able to pull through and bounce back from those scandals so they hate on them but I guess you can't just deny their talent. They are like "phoenixes" they come back bigger and better each time.
I miss their presence. I miss their live performances...it's crazy these stages are at least 3- 4 years old but can rival the current ones if not outperform them. Even their performances from 10 years ago can still stand until today. Love to see more people appreciating their music and stages. They really deserve it.

Im 24 and been a VIP from Philippines since 2015. The inspiration this group gave me made me who i am today. The BIGbang range of fandom is wide. VIp's since then are lazy , but believe me we are just waiting for the timing. Some are still active right now like voting or promoting but most of the fans are busy , from family matters, work and any other things. Since 2017 before their military training no music was been released from bigbang. 2015 eas their last performance from MAMA . Bigbang started to Banned MAMA from their performances due to bias and unfair treatment to the result of their awards. Since then idols such as EXO also banned MAMA.

in my opinion this is the best Kpop performance I've ever seen (and performance in general) not to say there aren't some other spectacular performances by other groups this just has ridiculous stage presence that I think comes from the confidence they have to make their own decisions on stage rather than just the choreography straight (which I do love but this just hits different)
