    Oooh gonna have to start checking my insta. I'm an irregular logger-inner! I absolutely love what you did. The stain design is fabulous. The gold stripes are beautiful and the hardware looks lovely too. The hair dryer was really making a difference. Heat gun is a handy thing to have alright. I used to do paper crafting and have a heat gun from back then. Clearing out most of my craft stuff but my heat gun is staying with me. Handy for so many things. I love that you shared this so honestly instead of delaying the upload, fixing the issue and no-one knowing about it. Can't wait to see how the heat gun works for you. I watch Thomas Johnston Furniture Restoration and he uses lacquer regularly. If I remember right he keeps the workshop at a set temperature overnight to let it dry properly. I don't know if you're aware of his channel but he's an absolute master at restoration. Been doing it for over 40 years. And he's a joy to watch.

    This is just a STUNNING transformation! It’s crazy to think that this piece started out green (just watched how you fixed the “blushing” video and forgot about it being green). LOVE how you used the different gel stains to get the different colors in your design. Such a great idea to use the gel (vs a liquid permeating stain) when taping, especially such fine lines, bc it sits on top of the wood. Just in awe of your talent!💜

      Thank you so much hon! I appreciate it. Any tips other than the heat gun?

    • @FurnitureWarriors
      @FurnitureWarriors 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The heat gun will be the easiest way. If that doesn't work, you can spray a light coat of lacquer retarder on the surface. It will soften the lacquer and allow it to re-dry slower so it doesn't blush. The blush is caused from the lacquer drying too fast with too much humidity. It traps moisture under the finish. You can also add retarder if you spray another piece to force it to dry slower. The retarder will not affect the final finish, so you can add as much as you need (typically about 10%).

  • @PaintingandExercise
    @PaintingandExercise 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I am confused. You started by saying that you start with lower grit sandpaper to remove paint which makes sense since you want to cut through the paint. But then you said that once the paint is splotchy and the majority of the paint is gone from the initial sanding that you switch to an even lower grit(???) to take off the remaining paint. Then you said that once the piece is clear of paint then you switch to your lowest grit of 220. "Low grit" sandpaper is very coarse and "high grit" is less coarse Low grit is actually not LOW in grittiness but means that the grit pieces are larger and therefore, low in population on a square inch of paper. The opposite for high grit. The grit pieces are smaller. Therefore, there is a high amount of grit pieces per square inch on a paper. I just do not want a newbie to ruin a piece thinking that their final sanding is done with the lowest grit.

    • @TheMissFlips
      @TheMissFlips  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hahaha you’re so right! It’s been a long day so my mind jumbled it up. What I meant by “low” was “fine”. I moved to a finer grit. Higher grit number. My bad 🥰
