@@tjcogger1974 Why is that you say? Would you bench once a week and lift heavier? Cuz if i'm gonna bench more than twice per week i'll go higher reps for strength and endurance. wby?
I did 5 days at Different % of max ...20 persent, 45 persent, 60 persent , 80 persent. Long 5 min rest between sets . Some close grip , medium grip and some wide. Rest Get quality rest , protein carb loading . Only did this for 1 week ..
When I was 38-39 and doing even 3 sets of medium heavy bench presses to failure (10 reps, 8 reps, 6 reps w/ 80%1RM), I noticed that I recovered quicker and added reps quicker with at least 3 and sometimes 4 days in between , vice trying to bench M/W/F...
A load of IPF powerlifters who compete full power bench 4-5 days a week. Seems that for natty lifters loads of practise seems to work great over a more mass based approach. I personally like to bench twice a week and do more volume in a single session, with a bit more bodybuilding accessory work
When I really want to get my bench up I bench 4 days a week. Think about it. If someone held a gun to your head and told you to add 20lbs on your max in a month or he'd kill you would you only bench once or twice a week or would you be benching damn near almost everyday?
“If your family was captured and you were told you needed to put 100 pounds onto your max squat within two months or your family would be executed, would you squat once per week? Something tells me that you’d start squatting every day. Other countries have this mindset. America does not.” - John Broz
How about training bench once a week but train chest three times a week doing only two chest exersizes on those days it got me stronger than benching multiple times a week i also rotate variation every three weeks i also do incline bench and decline bench
Hard to judge off age alone. Depends on a lot of different factors. I think youd be able to set up a scheme to allow you to bench twice weekly with success
@@BigBenchas We've been going every 5 days and that seems to be perfect. I'm lifting with my 20 & 23 year old sons and their recovery is about the same as mine. Thanks for the response - I'll just stick with doing this until progress stops.
@@shawndejohn63 My bench routine is shit right now.I can't seem to lift in the heavy low rep range and make progress. I will be switching to doing 3 sets of 7-8 reps when I get back from vacation. My other lifts - curl, squat, etc. are doing well with reps in the 7-12 range. Once every 5-7 days. I'm fairly advanced in weights so I need at least 5 days to recover
Just wondering, insane lift, But I noticed your butt was off the bench. When I lift at the gym, people will annoy me and say the max bench does not count because my butt is off the bench. Should I just ignore them? Insane benching

Quality information as always! 👍
Benching 2 times a week is very optimal for an athlete. Works for me, nice video dude!
That usually doesn't cut it for intermediate lifters.

I also do bench twice a week, one day is for chest gains with light weight and lots of reps n other day is 8 rep strength training day
This is actually a really legit video. Very very informative.

Lol 20%? For how many reps? 1,000?

The lower weight classes in the IPF lift pretty frequently. Jesus Olivares squats and deadlifts once a week while he benches twice a week.
That's how I like to bench. High-frequency isn't for me, I need a lot of bodybuilding accessories.

By saying benchpress is it only « normal » or should we do incline/decline benchpress ?
You could have those variations in there but I'm mostly referring to comp bench work for the stimulus
