it actually holds quite a lot of meaning in the lore. in the first game, the moon that Gibby ruled from was not a natural sattelite but something he had made to rule from. The sign of the Full Moon probably became a symbol of oppression in anyone who opposed Gibby. So then there's Wayne. The sign of the waning crescent, the image of that power on its way out so we can finally have the new moon of freedom.
I love how gibby's just marching towards you, all intimidatingly, I like to imagine Wayne's party is just inching back, scared of gibby's new form, and trying to push gibby back, but gibby won't stop moving.
I mean, they aren't really scared if they decided to go against the one that tried messing with their shabby world, you can even see it with Wayne's "Gibbyyyyyyy!"
So weird to see chuck salamone on the credits of this game of all places. I went to highschool with him a loooong while back. Good to see him still doing musical stuff.

One of my absolute favorite differences between Hylics 1 and 2 is how legitimately intimidating Gibby is in the 2nd game. Everything from his revamped design that better shows just how massive he really is, to the way his body parts individually gyrate and twist around each other, to the strange psychic influence he has on the inhabitants of the world, and definitely this music, the way it slowly comes in with that smooth bass, to how it suddenly explodes into this mess of musical euphoria that, along with "Look ma, I fly now!", sounds infinitely more intimidating than anything else in either of the games. This is in a weird-ass scale. I showed it to my friend who knows much more about music theory than me and even he could barely make any sense of it. And yet it somehow works! This song blows my mind. Or should I say, it blows my Fancy Meat Computer.
Don’t think to hard about it. There’s a set key (before the two modulations that happen), but it’s more about just playing with pitch alteration/accidentals.

I was notified of a meat motif for the battle, but I was not notified of that move, or the corespondent animation. I just about lost my shit when I saw it, too.
The previous Gibby theme was so cool. This game takes it to a whole another level. Love how there's this extreme contrast between any other song in the game, and this one. All the songs are just chill and even a bit goofy and then this one just SLAPS you with tension and the grand finale feel. This contrast is something not very many games try, and rightfully so, but when it works, it works so perfectly within the context and the overall aesthetic of the game.
What I find really weird about Gibby is how drastically different he looks compared to how he looks in Hylics 1. Instead of being this armored guy with this big round head and a mohawk he's this giant made out of floating chunks of meat with a giant coin-like head and realistic hands and feet.

Oddly enough, years later i am reminded of this music by Splatoon 3's final boss of all things... Both music pieces demonstrate a audible battle between two sides, as it transitions gradually from the villain to the heroes. This music, being Gibby's theme, starts off entirely chaotic and ever-changing much like his body, and his desired vision of the world. But, as the battle continues, a certain new tune starts to cover up his desired chaos, with a new, more distinct and rhythmic beat of a guitar (and occasionally drums). In a way, this is like the musical embodiment of the desire for identity that Wayne, Snomsosa, Dedusmuln and Pongorma have. They temporarily overwrite most of Gibby's chaotic instruments, and change the music to give it a distinct identity, instead of letting it blend amongst the countless combinations of chaotic tracks that we certainly heard a lot of in Hylics 1. It's literally a battle, going on in both combat and music, fitting since the team also act as a coordinated musical band when together, and Gibby would rather melt it all into chaos. Chuck Salamone, you did a fantastic job of making this music have such a distinct difference to most if not all of the other Hylics 1 and 2 music. And, in a way, we also have the team to thank for it, and Mason Lindroth to thank for the world that this music has been shaped upon. Everything has come together in such a perfect combination, for such a good climax to a mystical and deep series.
Oof, just imagining a fictional character, aware there's more to their world, seeking omnipotence, finding what is truly rare, and still ending up mortal! "I have BATHED in the terrestrial waters. WHERE IS MY OMNIPOTENCE!?"

As someone who's played countless RPG's (both traditional JRPG's and the quirky EarthBound-inspired variety,) Gibby as a boss was ridiculously easy, but that didn't stop him from being what I think is probably the most enjoyable RPG final boss I've ever faced off against.
This song first caught my attention when I was watching forsen speedrun minecraft and he had this in his doomer/zoomer playlist. Loved this song so much that I bought Hylics 1 & 2, desperately waiting to get to this song and I find out its the Gibbys final boss music. This was such a fun rabbit hole to get into and I'm looking forward to what Chuck & Mason cook up in the future!
I just realized Fancy Meat Computer could just be another way of describing a brain. Which, well, could be a good way of describing many of the fleshy things in this game, including Gibby himself, at least in his final form. It could _also_ be a reference to how Gibby is the _brain_ or mind behind the action of the Hylemxylem.
god im such a fucking sucker for pipe organs in boss themes and theyre utilized fucking EXCELLENTLY here. i think the complete 180 in musical tone really emphasizes the stakes. most of the other themes are relatively laid back, but this one is just pressure incarnate. and the organ provides a great, solid backing to the sort of 'wall of sound' that gives this fight its tension. that and having a giant hulking pseudo-god stomping towards you probably helps
wouldn't a fancy meat computer be a person? Also I swear in my life I had a dream like a year ago where I wrote this in the comments of a video with the same picture wtf
Specifically a person's brain, as the other parts of a person's body would all fulfill the roles of different machines. It's interesting to note that the human brain, to this day, is still regarded as being possibly the most sophisticated computer there is. This is also illustrated in Gibby's move Teardown, where a computer is stripped of its shell to reveal a brain, which then forms a hand to attack you.
This has a really strange, interesting feeling. Most of it is kind of weirdly ominous, but when things really kick into high gear at 1:55 it feels like you get hit by an absolute wall of pressure. The intense part of the song literally makes me imagine Gibby bearing down on top of you, like a huge, powerful presence almost physically crushing you with its weight.
I always thought Gibby's appearance in this fight was a pun on his name, which was originally picked as a pun on moon phase like Wayne, and making a different pun of giblets, a term in games for chunks of meat or robot parts or what have you that burst out of killed enemies. Something we see with each enemy we defeat in this game itself, Gibby included
I can't believe I only recently got around to playing this game, and the soundtrack completely blows me away in such a way I'm not sure any other video game soundtrack quite has. The game's a visual treat and the music's an auditory treat. There's never an urge to skip to the "best part" because the entire thing is the best part; each track from beginning to end is a journey that pulls you in and holds your attention, but not in an overwhelming way. I love the motif usage, and I'm just so floored by how fascinating it all sounds- the textures, the composition, the vibes. And this track is perfect for facing off against such a climactic and intimidating character. Definitely in my all-time favorite soundtracks for things.
I just found out about you and your art 2 days ago. Instantly picked up Hylics 2 on steam. I just got the airship. I love this game, it's music, it's art. This is probably the most soul I've ever seen put into a game. It is definitely the most unique. I love this game.
@@chuck_salamone It's definitely the bass that's AiC, maybe not so much the higher guitar and horror movie sting tones. But now that you say it like that, the rest of it sounds like other 90s rock tropes trying to coexist and it creates an interesting discord. Thank you for the god-tier music!
I appreciate you! I loved composing and performing/recording this piece! It’s very “Rob Zombie,” by design. Mason wanted a “slow goth punk anthem” for this final battle. It is evident that people really enjoy this one, which is so gratifying! Thanks for listening/supporting us.
In terms of voice headcannon, I imagine this resurrected version of Gibby would sound like Gaius van Baelsar from FFXIV. Like Gibby doing the "TELL ME, FOR WHOM DO YOU FIGHT?" quote sounds perfectly in character for him.
this exemplary musical track accompanied by the preternatural gesticulations of the imposing space-tyrant certainly succeeds in galvanizing my fancy meat computer, sterling toil to mason lindroth and his cohort chuck salamone for beholding us such an ethereal experience
TH-cam had that update that gets rid of comments on those album type videos so my comment was lost, so I'll repeat here. This song has the motif from them's fighting words and I'm losing it This motif is also in That's A Big Stick, Xeno Arcadia, and originally was in House in Hylics 1. I'll edit with more instances of the motif if I find/remember them
Thank you for making this pleasing sensation of sound available for acquisition by monetary matter. This is easily one of the most supreme last boss auditories I have ever had my ears be attuned to!
I've already commented once but i seriously can't get over how good of a final boss theme this is, 1:35 really does it for me with its chord progression.
Gibby: Oh? You're approaching me? Instead of running away, you're coming right to me? Wayne: I can't beat the glands out of you without getting closer. Gibby: Oh really...then get as close as you need to.
Can't think of a ffinal boss theme that hypes me up to fight like this one, even if i kinda destroyed Gibby with the amount of overpreparation i did haha
This song alone has made Hylics 2's OST one of my favorite game soundtracks of all time. The other songs are great too, but nothing beats an amazing final boss theme.

Haha, cheers. It’s a fitting end for sure. Can’t wait to release more Hylics related musical content.
Best final boss music ever. Honestly wtf this shit is POWERFUL
Sorry I'm late. Thank you for the kind words!
@@chuck_salamone Big fan of your work! I listen to the soundtrack all the time, very inspirational. Thanks for replying 😁
The physics rubber duck in Gibby's lair is hilarious to me
Gonna tell my kids this was the Seinfeld bass
I'm still coming back a year later and listening to this soundtrack, so good I put it in my jogging playlist.
I can seriously appreciate just how intimidating this tune alone is. I get goosebumps every so often when I listen.
Make me want to act like a villain
Villain it up, homie.
I SWEAR the crowd is spelling something out.
I think it's just gloves
I think it might be a bunch of gestures that the characters make when they preform.... well, Gestures, but I’m not 100% sure.
Oh my, this pleases my fancy meat computer's overly elaborate hearing apparatuses. This would make for a good psychedelic experience
This is on my list as some of the best final boss tracks I've ever listened to in gaming history. God i love video game music.
I’m so glad you love this one! It’s going to have an even more chaotic and heavy successor. Just wait.

Mildly Entertain the Breadth of Void, That one's Gland may be exalted.
(This song and this comment have been cursed by Gibby.)
Void from Berserk
Pulsating from beneath the Lumen , vibrations Vividly increase .
Damn him and damn his hylemxylem. His truncated wormhole will forever puncture the precipice
Misfortunate. But not ungood.
Who's triangulating the chemicals?

god im such a fucking sucker for pipe organs in boss themes and theyre utilized fucking EXCELLENTLY here. i think the complete 180 in musical tone really emphasizes the stakes. most of the other themes are relatively laid back, but this one is just pressure incarnate. and the organ provides a great, solid backing to the sort of 'wall of sound' that gives this fight its tension. that and having a giant hulking pseudo-god stomping towards you probably helps
Theme song of a man who has no idea he's about to get bodied by 4 full-power Bombo-Genesis attacks
this is just so good. Love playing it in the car
Haha, hell yeah, me too!
wouldn't a fancy meat computer be a person? Also I swear in my life I had a dream like a year ago where I wrote this in the comments of a video with the same picture wtf
Deja vu! I've just been in this place before
@@Toasterloaf you guys are finally back. we missed you.

By design.
@@chuck_salamone Late reply, but it's quite the honour to have the artist himself confirm my observations! Thanks for making this awesome song!
Hylics my beloved ♥️

This song radiates such a chaotic energy... *AND I LOVE IT.*
Lindroth could just start a TH-cam Channel about animations and music.
Didn't expect this to have over 100k views and I'm very happy to see it does.
God this is SO heavy
I love it
I can't believe I only recently got around to playing this game, and the soundtrack completely blows me away in such a way I'm not sure any other video game soundtrack quite has.
THANK YOU for the kind words!
I just found out about you and your art 2 days ago. Instantly picked up Hylics 2 on steam. I just got the airship. I love this game, it's music, it's art. This is probably the most soul I've ever seen put into a game. It is definitely the most unique. I love this game.
Did ya beat it
Never played the game, but was recommended by my algorithm.
I wish would be available for purchase.
In Steam you can buy both games
But the soundtrack isn't. It is a good work music.
@@padung6018 I heard they're releasing it on Spotify soon

He really do be walkin tho. Walking towards the end of your life.
This sounds like an Alice in Chains song almost.
Thank you for that. I tried to channel as much “90’s EVERYTHING” into this track as best as I could.
Chuck Salamone You did an AMAZING job on this track!
Starting to hear a bit of Queens of the Stoneage in there too, like that one song from the end of Rated R.
The funk is killing me. Chuck, you genius!
I appreciate you! I loved composing and performing/recording this piece! It’s very “Rob Zombie,” by design. Mason wanted a “slow goth punk anthem” for this final battle. It is evident that people really enjoy this one, which is so gratifying! Thanks for listening/supporting us.
@@chuck_salamoneIT'S INFLUENCED BY ROB ZOMBIE? HELL YEAH!
@@waterPsychiatrist heh heh, that’s right! Thunderkiss ‘65, to be specific.
Thank you for playing/listening!
I think this is possibly the most intense song I have ever heard

TH-cam had that update that gets rid of comments on those album type videos so my comment was lost, so I'll repeat here. This song has the motif from them's fighting words and I'm losing it
This motif is also in That's A Big Stick, Xeno Arcadia, and originally was in House in Hylics 1. I'll edit with more instances of the motif if I find/remember them
I love the 70s rock vibes from this. In fact, I get that from a lot of the rest of the soundtrack. The psychedellic art style of the game also helps.
Just finished Hylics 2 and goddamn. Wonderful game Mason, and wonderful music Chuck. Randomly generated text/10
Thanks for playing! So glad you enjoyed it.
I’m glad you enjoy that section!
happy 4th birthday hylics 2!
I used to be afraid of Claymation, what you've done with it has actually taken away that fear.
Gibby: Oh? You're approaching me? Instead of running away, you're coming right to me?
Wayne: I can't beat the glands out of you without getting closer.
Gibby: Oh really...then get as close as you need to.
Gibby: starts walking towards Wayne.
Wayne: ...wut

This song alone has made Hylics 2's OST one of my favorite game soundtracks of all time. The other songs are great too, but nothing beats an amazing final boss theme.
