Found the interviewers hard work, they are young so you can in fairness forgive a lot to youth.. Dunphy is a smart man, he realises a lot of what he did was entertainment. People take his sport punditry far too literally; a lot of it was tongue in cheek and he was up for a laugh. Big deal. People who know a little bit more about him, and have read his articles in other spheres, particularly in politics, know he's actually a very good journalist. I'd take his character and personality over a box ticker any day. If you find yourself agreeing or disagreeing with someone all the time, that's not a good sign I think. Differences in opinion are natural, if we're all streamlined we're probably losing our critical thinking. The last thing a journalist, or pundit for that matter, should do is try to people please, and Dunphy can never be accused of that!
Nail on the head. Football is a simple enough game to understand. Analysis is really surface level. Eamonn knew that and he decided to make it passionate and a bit of craic. There were days when he was truly more entertaining than the games itself.

Y'know, I like him on the RTE Sports panel (I live in Scotland but have just discovered the above on TH-cam) anyway its a good 3-way debate. Giles & Brady have stature & Dunphy is just the stirrer, dropping in bombs to start a bit of a fight lets face it. But here we see the real Dunphy, he has downed a few pints I feel, maybe, & he laughs at his own jokiness, slights with a smugness. Here I dont like him much. He's the sort that props up the bar trying to be a bit of a smart arse. To be avoided I think.
