I love synchronicities!!! I'll save a few dollars so I can send a request for you the live performance on E-town of "Midnight in Harlem". Her husband is Derek Trucks who's who grew up on the road with the Allman Brothers. He, and they are all legends. BB King and John Mayer were playing with Derek and they both stopped to listen to him in awe. Imagine. He's been called the best slide guitarist if all time! Susan is amazing too, but I think that song I mentioned has the most beautiful chord changes my ears have ever heard. ❤ Thanks so so much Lee!
Thanks for the great reaction. Susan is not only a great singer but also a good guitarist. And Derek is one of the best guitarists around. If you ever have the chance to see TTB live, take it. I saw them in 2022 in Hamburg, germany. that was the best concert of my life! I'm 62, and have been going to concerts since 1975, TTB are the best group I've ever seen live.
See the guitar team of Susan's husband, Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes in their Allman Brothers period. Derek, who grew up listening to Duane Allman, was the nephew of Allman's drummer Butch Trucks, is considered one of the best modern slide guitarists. The videos from the Live At The Beacon Theatre -2003 DVD are good examples (eg. "ain't Wastin' Time No More" ). Trucks also toured with Eric Clapton, where he played Duane Allman's parts from the Derek and the Dominos album. There are videos of Trucks jamming with the Allmans when he was 13.
This is one of the best bands playing today. There live performances are becoming legendary. Your gonna fall in love with them. Dive in! You ain't heard nothing yet!
Derek receives most of the accolades for his guitar playing (rightly so) but Susan can hold her own with anyone. I love watching how they smile at each other. They are so in sync as people, musicians, and partners in every sense of the word.
Tedeschi Truck Band is a fantastic live show. 11 person band. You would never know from this video but her husband, Derek Trucks is a phenomenal slide guitar player. Their music selection is very broad. You never know from show to show what they will play. Show us more !!!
I saw the in Shreveport at the Municipal Auditorium where Elvis and Hank Williams and so may legends have played on the old Louisiana hayride, I do believe I heard their ghosts giving these folks a standing ovation! I have heard Clapton, Eagles , Marshall Tucker, Kansas , SRV , ZZ Top at 69 years old I’m gonna tell you I’ll go see this group any time I can! They play everything you can think of and put their twist on it and I promise your ears will bless you for taking them to hear these folks play live music! They are unbelievably great!
I love her. She is a guitar monster! These guys used to be two bands, I seen Deric Trucks before they joined forces. He came out of the Allman Brothers band.
Susan Tedeschi is GREAT! That CD you were holding in your hands was my introduction to her... and there's a song on it that blew me away in 2000. I can't wait for you to listen to "It Hurt So Bad." And please listen to the version on this CD.
@@blanetalktrue enough, but that wasn't my point, which was that nowhere on the post was it noted that it was the Tadeschi-Trucks band that was performing. Susan was the spotlight, but she wasn't alone up there
I know you believe that, but it was all over the comments. Also, Lee did talk about the band. I knew her before she joined that band. And like other great artists who join other bands, it's okay to acknowledge that she is also okay on her own. Every time I see these reactions, the rush in the comments to make sure to laud Derek or the band always overwhelms any sentiment to point out that she's great too and had a successful solo career before TTB. I'm just providing some balance.
I agree! I was so blessed to have seen them with my youngest son just last year, because now my health has taken such a dive I don't believe there are any more live shows left in this wretched body! Ugh! Thank God for TH-cam, though!
@@L33Reacts As has been stated around the comments, Derek Trucks is the nephew of Butch Trucks, one of the founding member drummers in the Allman Brothers Band. He first sat in with them live when he was in like junior high. Years later, he joined the band full time, as well as keeping his solo band going. Susan and he married in the early 00s, they merged their two bands, and currently tour the country most of the year.
Best touring band out there today. And they're always on tour. Must see. Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks combined their respective bands into the TTB so they could tour together. There's a video floating around of Derek playing slide with Dickie Betts as a 13 year old. Click on any of their stuff, it'll be good.
I first saw Susan on a little stage at the Minnesota State fair in 1998. I sat in the grass just a few feet away and was blown away with her voice and guitar licks. Since then I have bought every album she has released, solo and with her husband. I.also recommend listening to Midnight in Harlem. Live
Welcome to Tedeschi Trucks Band! Try Bound for Glory (live from Atlanta)! They are the heirs of the Allman Brothers. Derek is nephew of Butch Trucks, one of the drummers in the Allmans.
I just got tickets for August. Saw them for the first time last August and needed to see them again. They play at an outdoor venue on the Lake Michigan Lakefront and the water behind them and the breezes coming off the lake just add to the whole experience.
The Tedeschi Trucks Band did an album project during the pandemic titled - I Am The Moon. It was released in 4 parts over a three month period for free. Some amazing tracks from an extremely talented band.
Love that you are exposing your self to this lady and her influences. Current band is The Tedeschi Trucks Band. Derrick Trucks is arguably the best Slide guitar player since Duane. I would like to recommend Midnight in Harlem or Everybody's Talking, both live versions.th-cam.com/video/xbOlgESKbIc/w-d-xo.html, th-cam.com/video/kiWbBC0SouU/w-d-xo.html
This song is a cover of a Bobby "Blue" Bland song. The version you have on your signed CD is from Susan Tedeschi's solo days - before she even met Derek Trucks. (That CD was re-released last year with a few bonus tracks.) As others have said, Susan and Derek were married and kept their own bands going separately for some time (and Derek also performed with the Allman Brothers Band and with Eric Clapton for some time) and only after some years did they form the Tedeschi Trucks Band. TTB does occasionally cover some material from both Susan's and Derek's solo days (as well as others), but they have an extensive catalog of original music too. When they cover "straight ahead blues" tracks, Susan often takes lead guitar (as she does here) and simply slays it. (See also "The Sky is Crying" from the Royal Albert Hall.) When the music calls for other elements (jam band, non-western influences, etc.), Derek Trucks (ranked pretty highly on Rolling Stones list of best guitarists of all time) leads and will blow your mind.
Saw these guys live at Red Rocks Amphitheater a couple of years back. Astounding. Los Lobos opened for them and they were fantastic too. They tour a lot - check their web page, and if they're coming within a hundred miles (or more!) of you, make that trip!
Thanks, I won't go into the whole history But Derrick Trucks is the guitarist who gave her the rose. He's one of the greatest guitarist of our time and arguably the greatest slide guitarist of all time. I'm sure you'll be hearing more from them.
That was destiny! How cool. I saw her in 2006, she opened for Los Lonely Boys, I won the tickets from a local radio station. Absolutely incredible. And then she married Derek Trucks and the rest is history. He's the nephew of one of the 2 original Allman Brothers Band drummers, Butch Trucks.
The Tedeschi Trucks band is her current project, with her husband, the GREAT Derek Trucks (Allman Brothers Band, Phil Lesh and Friends) on Guitar. Haven't got to see TTB yet, but I did see Susan before she hooked up with Derek, she was singing with The Other Ones, made up of members of the Grateful Dead after Jerry passed. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! TTB is on the list.
two great blues guirarists... susan and derek is one of the best slide guitarists. you could go all the way down the rabbit hole and never hit a rough spot.

I have seen these guys several times and IMO they are the best band touring today. Susan’s husband Derek Trucks is regarding as one of, if not the best slide guitar players out there!
