Year ago I brought my wife (who grew up in the Black southern church) to see Susan and Derek. Two songs in she leaned over and said “somewhere there’s a choir who’s missing their lead singer” 😂😂 Susan is a National treasure 😅
Just a correction: the song was sung by Harry Nilsson for Midnight Cowboy and he had a huge hit with it but Fred Neil, a legendary '60s folksinger wrote it (Jefferson Airplane's song "Ballad of You and Me and Pooneil" was a tribute to Fred). Nilsson's original song for the movie was "The Lord Must Be in New York City." Also a great song.
I am listening to the J.A. song now. Thanks for the info. Fred was our next door neighbor in Cocoanut Grove, would come over with his 12 string and play all night long, then come the next night, and say nice to meet you. He was so important to music, it was his taste when working as stage manager at the Cafe Wha? that determined who made it to the stage to get discovered, then change the world.
I'm seeing tedeschi trucks band in Boston Friday night Oct 4 at the boch Wang theater and I'm stoked I even have my Amtrak ticket reserved Portland Maine to Boston Massachusetts and I'm gonna have the best time of my life yes!!!!
And the day continues with more great guitar playing mixed in with one of the sexiest women in music today, Susan Tedeschi. I've seen this band twice , just brilliant musicianship all around with a woman who can play a lick, belt out a beautiful song, then play searing guitar solos, and Derek. By now you know Derek Trucks is the nephew of Allman Brothers drummer Butch Trucks and man can he play
Great cover of a Harry Nillson tune....these guys can do whatever they want to, you guys need to get to a live show! Doesn't matter which direction they go it always comes up gold.
I saw them in concert about a year ago. They are a real band. I think the best out there. All the musical elements x2. I love electric guitar music, so amazing. Great singing, backup singers amazing. You can tell they love what they do.
The Harry Nilsson classic🎶 An original take on the song and I think it's cool. But for me, Nilsson's recording of his own song is so touching and beautiful❤
Saw them in Saratoga also, Wood brothers opened and joined them later in the set. Incredible band of musicians all around and someone the world needs to see and hear more of
A day after watching all your TTB reactions and I am still hooked on them. Not sure how I missed them growing up but I am loving catching up with them now. I just watched a recent interview with Derek where he talked about all the amazing talents he played with and those that influenced him. It was captivating and in the end he played some licks on the guitar that melted me. What a talent! Here is link to that great interview with Rick Beato. th-cam.com/video/qMVZtd7XKcQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=D_6YbkM9m4a8LwXN
Hello La & Che, I thought I'd suggest another song by a group, I believe you've reacted to before, if interested. "Al Stewart - On The Border/TopPop" (by the channel: TopPop) --This song is a song by Al Stewart, and it was released in 1976 as part of his album called "Year Of The Cat"
Bonnie Raitt and Janis Joplin had a love child= Susan Tedeschi. Derek Trucks is guitar royalty. Can’t get enough of TTB live performances. Been attending their concerts for over 10 years.
Love these guys. They come through Sac most years, go see them it will not disappoint! You should really check out her video from Live Farm Aid 1999, song: Just Won't Burn. Great performance. She was just starting out and so good already. This whole band is so talented. Thanks for the reaction!
What a great band! You can just tell all the dripping influences of so many blues artists but the Allman Bros really helped shaped them and now they just bring it and keep getting bigger and better!
Privileged and I truly mean privileged to see them live late 2022 . Small intimate theatre and great close up seats . The memory will live with me forever. The whole band were absolutely outstanding but please let’s shout out to Derek some of his playing left me giggling with dis belief what I was witnessing. Totally jaw dropping…One truly amazing night . Thank you TTB ❤❤
I’m just gonna drop this here and hope it leads somewhere….Derek’s brother, Duane, plays drums in another fantastic band: Widespread Panic! There are many other links between these two band, especially Derek and Panic’s lead guitarist, Jimmy Herring! They go WAY back together!
I don't know how I missed the notification for this one, since this is my favorite band!! They're going to be playing the Greek Theater in Berkeley at the end of May. You two should go!! I'll be seeing them the previous week in Portland.
I try to catch them every year they come around. They always have great opening bands as well. I discovered The Marcus King Band when they opened for them.
FRED NEIL wrote this song. He is one of the most lmportant musicians of all. He was also rightous. Half of the rockers learned how to perform from him. He put Dylan on stage for the first time. His taste in music affected half the music you hear.
Really got to do a deep dive with this band. Nearly everything they do is really good stuff. Very hard to find this level of musicianship. Fantastic stuff 🎉❤ ✌️🤟
Probably one of the best live bands today. Took my son and his friend to see Jeff Beck, and Tedeschi Trucks was the warm up band. 2010ish? Jeff had to work extra hard to out play Derek Trucks. He was on fire.
Wow, I'd have loved to be at that concert! I've seen Tedeschi Trucks Band 3 times and Jeff Beck 7 times. Jeff is probably my all-time favorite guitarist, but what Derek does on slide guitar is from another world.
You fellas should check out Susan Tedeschi in the When The Levee Breaks featuring John Paul Jones / Playing For Change video!! OMG - THAT song will BLOW YOU AWAY!!! Led Zeppelin song....I think ya'll reacted to that - but, they put a spin on that song that surprised even me!!
Cover of Bill Withers song, a great version!! These guys are the best live band going right now. They put on a fabulous show. I've seen them every year since 2010 except during Covid.
Everything is STELLAR about this band. I need to see them. It's looking like you haven't heard the original performed by Harry Nilsson. AMAZING song and seems to be a candidate for MOST UNDERRATED MALE SINGER!! I beg you to listen to the original and other ones you would not know or maybe believe it's the same singer; WITHOUT YOU, ( vocal freak of nature), JUMP INTO THE FIRE and COCONUT 🥥. All four songs I thought were different people!! Great Channel Guys!! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎
Hey La and Che. I just wanted to recommend a TH-cam video for you to watch called, 'The Sixties, The British Invasion.' It is about the British musicians bringing over older black American blues artists and how that exploded into blues based rock, that as you guys know, heavily influenced The Yardbirds, in which Jimmy Page played and he took those blues influences to Led Zeppelin. Love your reviews!!
Airplay Beats if you want a Great Party Band from the 70's give a listen to The J.Geils Band Musta Got Loss with INTRO off there Blow Your Face Out Live Album or just give the whole Album a listen thanks for keeping great music alive
Yawn.... .Hey Guys, here's an idea. Let's allow the people with the most extra $$ around to pick the next 10 most esoteric songs and artists to have us suffer through.

The Best Band in the Land still tours endlessly and that's why they're at this level.
I’m impatiently waiting for them to circle around to where I live again! It won’t be soon as I’m in the Western US

"Blues on the Ceiling" has been my favourite Fred Neil song since way back in the mid-sixties...
You guys really need to see "I Pity the Fool" from the Orpheum. Susan is incredible!
YES YES YES
I'm seeing tedeschi trucks band in Boston Friday night Oct 4 at the boch Wang theater and I'm stoked I even have my Amtrak ticket reserved Portland Maine to Boston Massachusetts and I'm gonna have the best time of my life yes!!!!

FRED NEIL WROTE

Saw them at their first MSG gig last fall and was blown away. Sold it out by the way. More people need to know this band.
Every time I hear something from this band they just get better.
Never seen anybody react to this is one of my favorite covers of all time
The Harry Nilsson classic🎶 An original take on the song and I think it's cool. But for me, Nilsson's recording of his own song is so touching and beautiful❤
...agree, also like the movie !
Pretty sure Fred Neil wrote this one.
Fred Neil is the original, and a foundation stone of half the music since '60, he put Dylan on stage for the first time.
Been listening to Susan Tedeschi for many a year and I swear she's never sounded better!
I am waiting for you guys to come on here and tell us you finally got to see them yourselves live!
Their cover of 'wars' "the world is a ghetto" with Los lobos is so good
Hallo, I know the bands and the song, interesting, is it on an live album ? kind regards from Berlin.
@@jogischulz2576 I saw it here, it's from their concert at red rocks
Susan Tedeschi and Beth Hart in the same day. I said it before, you guys are spoiling us. 🔥🔥
A great song, a great writer, a great original version that was in a great movie. "Midnight Cowboy"
Gettin yer moneys worth yeah!😂
What a groove…
Looking forward to see you guys react to Bonnie Raitt!! She was one who went out of her way to pay tribute to all those that inspired her
I saw them for the first time last summer at Saratoga Springs. I was mesmerized just watching Derek Trucks playing guitar. Amazing!
Saw them in Saratoga also, Wood brothers opened and joined them later in the set. Incredible band of musicians all around and someone the world needs to see and hear more of
Susan absolutely kills it, like every time!!!!
Agreed you absolutely must do I Pity The Fool Live In Boston, like the video says, she blew the roof off that place
The term is her singing is explosive like his guitar licks. Burst of enthusiasm.

Fabulous cover..... fabulous band, thoroughly enjoyed! Thank you gentlemen!❤️
Never get tired of Midnight in Harlem by TTB
Bonnie Raitt and Janis Joplin had a love child= Susan Tedeschi. Derek Trucks is guitar royalty. Can’t get enough of TTB live performances. Been attending their concerts for over 10 years.

The closest thing to the Allman Brothers you'll find today. Have seen them live twice. If you get a chance to see them, GO! You won't be disappointed.
Been watching Derek since he was 8 yrs old. First time was with the Allman Brothers. They are incredible!
Fred Neil's version is awesome. You should check it out just to see what these guys did with it.
Fred is one of the most important musicians of the modern age.
We are going to go see them at St. Augustine Amphitheater next month... 😎
You should check them out live for yourself! They tour quite a bit. Definitely a good time
Whew!!! Susan, Derek, and the orchestra! Wow!
If you two get a chance to see them live in concert, you owe it to yourself to check them out…You will leave feeling uplifted
The definition of taking you to church

First time I heard Susan was the song Back to the River! Grabs you immediately! I think you both may like it.
Lie in our graves feat Derek Trucks by Dave Matthews Band.
Or if you want, I think Derek Trucks masterpiece is Passaquan. Gotta go live.

Nice gentlemen
Check out Midnight in Harlem by them it's epic
This algorithm isn't big enough for all the content I like. TH-cam can't accept that I like a thousand good things, and zero AI BS things.
That was nice. How about
"TO LATE FOR ROMANCE" TENDERLOIN
Wow, this is almost unrecognizable as a cover of the Harry Nilsson tune. . Yikes. Totally different vibe. I love both!

Hi La and Che … this is a great song from the movie “midnight cowboy” originally done by the great Harry Nilsson…. Go lions 🦁🏈
Very different from the original. Stax-like. Really like TTB, not sure this one does it for me, though.
It sounded very disjointed to me.
Very different from the original.
