  • Hey everyone!
    Sorry it's been so long since my last upload - 2 months :o I've just started uni so it's taken awhile to get settled in.
    Anyways, I have this amazing opportunity to play on a Fazioli F278! The dealer gave us an amazing deal on it which we couldn't say no to since it was cheaper than the 7 foot Faziolis, Yamaha CF series and even new Steinways. This piano was made in 2017 and only used for 5 concerts before covid came so it's depreciated a fair bit so even though we got a huge discount, it's still an amazing piano that's barely been touched. The hammers barely have any grooves in them too. I've only had it for 3 weeks so far so it hasn't been tuned yet. Even so, it still sounds really good imo despite being moved to a whole new location which is a testament to its quality. From now on, all my videos will be recorded on this lovely piano :D which will probably outlive me.
    More about the piece:
    I started this piece in early Jan during the summer holidays since it quickly became my favourite Animenz piece. I especially love 2:38 and onwards since the colour change makes the piece sound more warm coupled with the A, E, F# motif which switches to A and C# in between the main melody.
    The piece was incredibly challenging both musically and technically since those runs were really hard to pull off well, especially the last one since you've been playing for 6 minutes already!
    Also, at ~4:46, I'm not too sure what that weird "twangy" sound is since I tried recording different versions of that section but the sound kept coming back.
    Thanks for listening! The next piece will definitely be Kawaki wo Ameku :)

    Great song/piece choice and even greater playing! Almost 10 minutes in one(?) take is certainly not an easy task, especially when the hard run is towards the end of the piece

      My recordings are mostly done in 1 take. I have the base audio which is the one seen in the video and then I re-record a few bars that I don't particularly like since it's just a waste of time to play the piece over and over when you just need to fix 1 bar

    Would you ever consider learning James Chou’s arrangement?

    • @CharlesMaPiano
      @CharlesMaPiano  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I learnt a bit of it while learning Animenz’s one but I prefer the one recorded on his F308 which doesn’t have sheets so I’ll have to find the differences and write them down. I want to learn it some day though

    How long did it take for u to master this piece?

    • @CharlesMaPiano
      @CharlesMaPiano  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Took me about 1.5 months to learn. I definitely didn't "master" this piece though - my tempo and rhythm is still kinda all over the place here and it's something I'm still trying to improve on

    whats the best ways you practiced the hard parts?

    • @CharlesMaPiano
      @CharlesMaPiano  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I started playing slowly with separate hands then over time the speed would build up. After that I’d still occasionally play these sections slowly again, both legato and staccato without pedal and repeat this 2 or 3 times for each section

    great cover! Fazioli or steinway? which would you say you prefer?

    • @CharlesMaPiano
      @CharlesMaPiano  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I definitely like the Fazioli action better. The sound is a bit hard to compare since I've mostly played on the D from 1970's which sounds quite different to the new ones at the show room. I think the Fazioli is better for a home environment since it's not too loud even with the lid completely open which is why I chose it.
      Maybe I'll try to do an audio comparison some day! It'll be a bit unfair since they'll be in different rooms with slightly different mic positions
