Thank you for clearly explaining how you work with Dimensions kits. I have also found it difficult dealing with the long threads and will try to make the floss tags for myself now. ❤
You are welcome! 💕💕💕
Thank you for showing this. I makes me want to actually attempt one of my dimensions kit I had kind of given up on.
I am so happy to learn about pdf. I was always making a copy by scanning parts of the chart. This would be so much better. I also transfer the floss to floss drops.
Thank you, this was a very helpful video. You did a good job even without an overhead camera! The tip about asking Dimensions for a PDF was worth it alone! 😘
Thanks! ❤️
Thanks for sharing how to do this. Happy stitching!
Thank you so much for sharing this information! I didn't know you can get pdf's for dimensions kits. Game changer for sure! Your floss drop method is pretty close to what I do! I just buy the tags in bulk from Amazon and then punch the holes.
Sounds like a good idea to me. My hands could use a break from punching! 😂
Thanks Collette!! I also use tags for my kits and it does take time but soooo worth it! I didn’t know about “Books”!! So I’m checking that out! Have a blessed day!❤
You are so welcome! 💕💕💕
Thanks for sharing. The work on the front end makes it a more enjoyable stitch with getting confused with full, half stitch. 1 or 2 threads and then blended threads. You’ve made it easier. Thank you!
You are very welcome! 💕
Great ideas! This makes me want to kit up one of my Dimensions kits. Thank you!
Go for it! 💕
Thank you very much! I hate messing with those long strands. Never dawned on me to put them on floss drops!🤷♀️
Thank you Colette! This is so helpful. I will go to Newberry stitcher to see any other tips. Happy Stitching!
I was going to mention Needleberry stitcher at the beginning and totally forgot! I think Kathryn will forgive me!
Thank you for taking the time to show how you organize your Dimension kits, extremely helpful.
You did an awesome job on this tutorial. It reminded me of watching Martha Stewart cooking videos when she has her minions measuring every ingredient in little glass dishes ahead of time. It saves her a lot of time with the actual cooking. In our cases, this time spent on putting our threads on floss tags and then on a ring will save us time and give us true enjoyment with our stitching. We are our own 'minions', if you will. 😀
Very true! But too bad we can’t get some of the real minions to help us out too! 😂
Thank you for the advise, my daughter gave me 5 dimensions kits and I will now know how to organize the floss.
Wow, you are getting a collection! Have fun! 💕
That was very helpful! I have Scenic Farm I want to do and it all looked very confusing so it sits on the back burner. You have empowered me❣️
Glad it was helpful! You can do it!
Now I have some insight as to how you are able to go as fast as you do, and it always baffled me how you are able to sit and visit with friends and cross stitch, or go to conferences and be able to socialize and still get a 100,000 stitches in on any given picture! Thank you, Collette I love all your wipes. Proud of you for all you accomplished last year and all you expect to do this year. And you will finish my favorite one, the lovely lady violinist. Her dress is spectacular!
Then do you store all the floss tags and fabric and charts in a project bag? How is this different for your non kit projects? Sorry to be nosey, but I find it fascinating and actually a very good way at keeping things straight. See you next time. Happy kitting and stitching.
Yes I do store them in a project bag. Best thing ever developed for cross stitchers!
I was hoping that the violinist would be called in WIPGO for February but no such luck. And having deadlines on the anniversary and birth projects that are sooner then that lovely lady, they have to take precedence.
Happy Stitching! 💕💕💕
I just started my first dimensions kit glad I watched you tonight I was using a full cross when I should have been doing half cross I’m relatively new at cross stitch obviously have a lot to learn thx for taking the time to do this video ❤
You are welcome! You have to keep an eye on those Kit stitches! 😂
Thank you for sharing your method of setting up a Dimensions kit! And I had no idea that we could use iBooks as a stitching tool! I have all of my PDF files in iBooks so I’m already good to go!! Thank you! Hope you have a great day!
You are so welcome! 💕💕💕
I kit mine up very similar to this. It’s always fun to see how others do things and get inspired. There is no wrong way, just the way you enjoy doing things. Have fun stitching!
So true! 💕💕💕
Collette, if you want to reinforce the holes, befor you punch them put packing tape (clear) across where the holes will be. Also there are circle punches available. If you have, or a friend has a cricket machine, you can cut quilting template plastic tags.
Thank you for the ideas! 💕
I have a very old Dimensions kit. Years ago started by my daughter but I would like to finish it. The threads are strangled though. S I am going to spend some tome in sorting it, following your ideas. Thank you for showing your method of doing that. 😊
You are welcome! I hope the sorting of the threads goes well. 💕💕💕
Thanks for sharing the info. I do something a little differently. But I like how you do them with a bunch of colors.
Great tips, thank you!
Thank you. This is most helpful, and has given me some incentive to look at the kit I started a while back.
Thank you Colette, for this video! I never thought of using Books. You made my day! 🥰
You are so welcome! 💕💕💕
Hi Collette! I bought a Dimensions kit about 2 yrs ago and also hated the long hanging floss😞. So I also decided to take the time and make some floss drops and use them! The time was well worth it!
Thank you also for giving us the address to get a PDF. I too , have an apple IPad that I use my with my other PDF’s. Thanks for sharing this info. Greatly appreciated! Happy New Year! 🎉❄️🧑🏻🦰🇨🇦
Thank you for sharing, very useful tips to use on dimensions kits. I will be using these moving forward to help with my kits.
Glad it was helpful! 💕💕💕
Great idea. Thanks for sharing
I was glad to find out you can get pdf patterns for dimensions. I’ll use this in the future. I use an IPad and I use GoodReader for my pdf charts. You can mark it up like you use un books. It’s also free. I enjoy your floss tubes.
Thank you! 💕
This was fantastic and very informative. Thank you Colette for sharing. Love and blessings xx
You are very welcome! 💕
This is so helpful! Thank you, Colette!
You are welcome! 💕💕💕
Thank you!!!
Thanks Colette. This was helpful. 🌸🌹
I just bought my first dimensions kit! Thank you for this video. 😊.
Hi Colette. Thank you for this clear and detailed demo. ⚘️
Thank you!! This was so helpful!
You're so welcome! 💕
I love this! I knew you could get a PDF from them but that it wasn't PK compatible. I didn't know about Books. I'm an Apple gal anyway so I just reached out to Simplicity to ask about PDFs for two of my projects. Good tip about not asking them for ALL of them. Ha ha. A PDF that I can mark up would be SOOOOOOOO much easier. You are awesome! ~J
Hi Julie! I was just thinking about you. I hope your mom is doing well and you are getting some time to stitch. And I’m glad you found something helpful in the video! Love ya! 💕💕💕
Thank you.😊
Thank You 😊
Thanks so much, I am starting on a Dimension full coverage and would love to have the pdf. I do not like the thread lengths either, will have to do your thing with them. Hugs and many thanks. We have 6.5 inches of snow so we aren't going anywhere for awhile with temp below 29 for atleast 1.5 weeks. Stay safe. Hugs, linda
You are so welcome! Sounds like you are getting the snow like us! 💕💕💕

Thanks for sharing this, I just got a Dimensions kit (the Autumn Fairy) and I think I'll try this setup. And I'll definitely be asking for the digital chart!!
I love Autumn Fairy. I always wondered, though, why I’ve never seen a Winter, Spring, or Summer Fairy by Dimensions! 🤷♀️ Have fun kitting it up!
Hi! I emailed dimensions and got my pdf the same day! For those using android, I put it in the free xodo app. I can mark it off in annotate mode. I set the pencil to 5.7pt 45%opacity. That gives me the right size dot for each symbol and I can still read the symbol once I've marked it off, which I find useful. Thank you, again, colette, for such a helpful flosstube ❤
Thanks @jaynebarrell1606 for all the android info! It really helps, then I can forward this info to other commenters. 💕💕💕
Very glad to help 😊
💖👍😎🤔☝️how I kit up? I don't.I wing it!& I kit up?by investing in thread/floss.I will pick my own colors."your way is perfectly fine to."🙂I totally agree with that comment.💖☕👍😎
Hi Colette! Great video. I have a few Dimensions kits in my Stash, but have never stitched one. Great tips; how to get a PDF from Dimensions, using Books, labelling your threads…. I am not Techie anymore, how is Patternkeeper different?
Pattern Keeper keeps track of the amount of stitches you do and when you tap on a symbol all of that symbol in one color pops up so you can count easier and complete the spot.
I was just looking at an old Dimensions kit this evening that I wanted to start. It's at least 35 years old, so the floss is not on those strips. This is my first try at a Dimensions kit. I was wondering how in the world I'm supposed to know what color goes with what symbol, and how was I going to begin to organize it. I use Samsung notes on my Samsung tablet, much like you use your notes app. It's VERY helpful to know how I can get a PDF of my pattern. Your organization demo was very useful. I'll also check out the other stitcher, Needleberry?, that you mentioned. Thanks very much!
When I organized an old kit I laid out all the floss, then spent time with the color legend. You usually can match most colors to their symbols. The few that I was not sure of, I checked how much of that color looked like it was going to be used and looked at the floss to see if there looked like enough. For example pale yellow and light yellow, if one looks like it is used more that will be the color with more strands. Hope that is understandable.
Hi, in old kits you can use the instruction sheet to help with color sorting. It has the number of lengths of each color they provide. And it's helpful to sort in daylight like near a window---makes a big difference in the colors.
@@BethJedrzejewski-ue9gs Thanks very much!
I just discovered your videos from Liz Matthew’s (Hello Liz). Thank you for all the good information but I am having a problem with the email address for the PDF’s. It’s telling me it’s not a valid address. Not sure what I’m doing wrong. Again thank you for all your help.
I am having trouble also 🤷♀️
Hi Collette - I appreciate the tips on how you set up and work with your dimensions kits., thank you. Do you use Pattern Keeper for full coverage?
Yes I do. It has really helped speed up my full coverage stitching. 🙂
Hi Colette! I am not Techie. Happy to see how you use Books. How is Patternkeeper different?
What about someone wanting to get back into crossstitch again? Would you recommend a Dimensions kit or should I do another project first? I haven't stitched in years, and being older, I need a magnifier light. Thanks in advance for getting back to me.
Do you have a local needlework store available? If so ask them for a pattern that is good for beginners. If you do not you can check at the local chain craft stores for a beginner cross stitch kit to buy. If online is your preferred route go to 123stitch.com and type in the search, beginner kits They have lots! Have fun!
I have just lost 85% of my pdf’s that I had in iBooks. I don’t know what to do and how or if I can get them back. $100s of patterns, freebies I can’t get back plus other. Can anybody help me
I’m not really a techie person so not sure what to tell you, other than find a family member or friend to help 🤷♀️
Thank you for this video. Have you ever used other fabric than the Aida it comes with? I would prefer linen. Have you ever run out of floss?
Yes I have. Sometimes I will swap out the Aida for linen or Evenweave. It’s your choice.
As for the floss I would have to say, I have rarely run out of the floss in a kit, but that doesn’t mean it never happened. My last kit I did run out but the kit before that I didn’t. But if it’s a Dimemsions kit you are working on they are very good about sending you more floss. I’m not sure about the other kit companies.
