For those who might not happen to watch the whole video (no judgment; I like to ramble) - I want to do a mini-Q&A as part of a video when I hit 2,000 subscribers, and as such I need questions - ask away!
Yeah, one thing that I cut from my script was that I actually bought an Assetto Corsa mod to reference - I cut that mention because then I'd have to explain that I did in fact have a reference, but wasn't entirely confident in its accuracy since it was presumably working from the same photos I was -- not to mention that I was lazy and cut a few corners near the end of the build. Too many words, not interesting enough, so out it went.
here's a few questions, how long does ur average project take, does ur inspiration come at a whim or do find inspo in certain numerous places, and if any are there any guides u used that helped u create more detailed builds such as this one?
9:35, Since quite a while ago, the aero of automation cars in beamng is only dependent on the actual drag and downforce of the entire car, and not from seperate fixtures. Also, at 10:00 you are trying to find the downforce of the car at 124 mph / 200 kmh, which is the downforce that's shown in the test track screen. No need to fiddle with the graphs.
- That's why I was worried about the aero. It works fine in Automation, because it doesn't care about the angle of the fixture, just the wing angle in settings. In Beam, I was worried that it would act like exactly what it was: a big vertical panel on the end of the car. - Huh, didn't know that - though I still think for video purposes the graphs make more sense with the general "I tuned the aero" idea. Thanks for the tip though!
@noname2242 correct, I do use a wheel a Logitech G29 so nothing too fancy. Handling is great once you get used to it. Maybe a little oversteery on some corners but once you get past that I was able to put down some good lap times.
@@x-90 Yep, mine's a G29 as well (sometimes wish I'd gone for something less noisy, but it does the job). I had a pretty similar impression - I could have probably tuned that oversteer out, but it wasn't too bad, Auto-Beam tuning is a huge hassle, and so I did absolutely no tuning at all. It's a miracle it's as nice to drive as it is.
damn that's a lot of detail!! I do not have the patience to spend that much time doing anywhere near that level of detail!! if you ever need to know the technical side, like aero, I can help. For instance, make a bunch of invisible wings, then in the aero tab, reduce the wing angles. You'll end up with more downforce, but the lower the angle, the less drag you'll have :)
Interesting. I pretty much winged it (ha, ha) with how I got to that downforce figure. I guess it works out either way in the end, since I just lowered the drag in .jbeam anyway, but that's good to know.
@@fillman86 Oh yes. Was it you who showed me that "fixture warping" thing? You know, place a fixture in 3d, rotate, 2d-ify? Lovely little trick, which I now severely overuse.
Tangentially, yes - this is a car, a car can be a Prius, therefore this is a Prius. Alternately - this is a DTM car, DTM did crossover races with GT500, GT500 is only 200 more than GT300, and there is a GT300 Prius, therefore this is a Prius.

Always a pleasure working with you NN!
Likewise!
14:55 there are a few simracing games that have DTM in them, could go referencing with a free cam in those

Happy channel birthday!
Mine will be the 25 of this month (July)
Stunning car! 🥳
Thanks!
Happy channel birthday to you as well!
@@noname2242 Thanks!
Bro that car turned amazingly beautiful how can you be thinking that's bad
Damn I remember your channel, you were my fav automation creator 3/4 years ago, I’m pleasantly surprised by your comeback.
Thanks, although I haven't played any Automation since this video's release (July last year).
I would imagine the perfect sound track for his suffering would be stage 1 of the caretaker

is there a reason you solely do body molding in auto as opposed to using blender?
Great question, will probably answer it in the video!
that does look pretty legit
Thanks!
I also started making automation cars in 2020!
I think I'd actually been playing for a while before I started making videos on it - not entirely sure, but probably 2018 or 2019.
@@noname2242 nice
Just raced this around the west coast trial on my channel
Nice, that looked really fast! What did you think of its handling, as (it looks like) a fellow wheel user?

I once considered using automation because I was bored and figured it couldn't be that hard
Never again
Automation rewards misery.
