For anyone confused how Neymar could fake the penalty kicks at the start. Its because back then there was no rule for fake penalties until i believe 2011.

@@theobserver7217 Fazia nada. Um ou outro até tentavam, mas foi o neymar que estragou a brincadeira, tanto é que mudaram a regra unicamente por conta do neymar. O Rogério até fez uma vez ou outra antigamente, mas era raríssimo, depois do neymar começou a fazer em toda oportunidade.

Da pra perceber de uns anos pra cá que ele sempre bate do msm jeito, lento do lado contrário ao goleiro, mas com uma pequena diferença quando é um jogo mais importante ou quando o time tá na desvantagem, ele bate um pouco mais forte, mas ainda deixando humilhante.

When you say his the best penalty taker and someone uses whole career stats, tell them they don't know ball as they thing. Because stats is not everything, even in penalties there's always context. Let me explain, Neymar was the main man since 18yrs old. He was taking penalties for Brazil and Santos since then, unlike others, even as a wonderkid, with time and experience obviously you'll get better. So if you really "know ball" you would know that, and that he found his penalty technique around 2017 and since then, his stats are way better then before and not only scoring, he is always sending the goalkeeper the wrong side too. There's a thing called EVOLUTION and TRAINING.

This video is everything thats wrong with the youthbe generation. Neymar has a converstion rate of 81%, Matt Le Tissier scored 98% of his 49 penalties. He wouldnt care what the keeper was doing as he relied on his technique. A normal run up, would strike the ball powefully with his instep so accurately thay the ball would hit the side of the netting just inside the post which was just impossivle for a keeper to reach. No silly hair cut, flaxh boots or millions of pounds, just ability.

FIFA forbade this type of play on 18/05/2010, so before this date it was totally legal
it was legal back then but then FIFA forbid it and it couldve been because he was just too good with that technique but now he has another great technique so he will forever be the best penalty taker causing FIFA to deny his type of penalty but coming back with an equally strong technique and still scoring almost every time

They roughly have the same conversion rate if we only consider Neymar's numbers once he changed to his current technique (which is what made him a remarkable penalty taker, previous pens don't matter, same way we can't consider Messi's early years when talking about his free kicks. We need ti analyze once they got known for that particular part of their game).
A bit off topic, but I also believe that Balotelli still has a crazy ~90-95% conversion rate in his career....
But yeah, I'm not a big fan of this style. It's way too risky. When keepers don't jump (very hard due to muscle memory etc), it feels like they have a 50% chance of saving lol I'd rather have a Lewa-like as my penalty taker, but watching Neymar's penalties feels great.
