I just wanted to add that in the spanish version the protagonist says "shit" like literally, she says mierda clear and loud
Castillian or LatAm? I grew up on the LatAm dub and barely remember it, but this definitely sounds like something from a Castillian dub
@ambiguoussarcasm it was def castellano dub yeah
😂brilliant
At what part of the movie?
@bloodybee3553 when her "best friend" refuses to go to the amusement park with her, her friend leaves and then Dixie tells her "vete a la mierda" and then Dixie coincidentally steps on shit while she says that insult and says "atraemos lo que pensamos" If I remember correctly
THIS MOVIE WASNT A FEVER DREAM?! The sequel “mummy I’m a zombie” was on Netflix and ONLY the sequel. Child me was so confused when it had the recap at the start. Also you are so real for the Gonner crush, but hear child me out, Isis.
I remember seeing the sequel on Netflix and yea I was confused as well about the recap at the start but it all makes sense now 😅
I watch the second one on Netflix too. I didn’t know it was a sequel until like the third time I rewatched it lol.
OMG SAMEEEEEEEE
Omfg me too
Same situation for me! And i watched it like 3 times but the only scenes that were familiar (besides the recap and the her waking up scene) was… a salamander peeing on Isis and Dixie standing up to the zombie horde. Literally all I remember. I even remember her dad having a different design for some reason
Idk if I'm the only one, but my pet peeve when it comes to parents complaining about movies is when it has mild language. They should complain when a movie is low quality, as that's way worse than minor language that doesn't effect kids.
No literally! Cocomelon has no bad language sure, but it’s low quality and like. Actually terrible for kids to watch. Kids need much more substance and good films/media
@@stupidass69420 exactly, especially when (and I know it's opinion based and some parents just don't like anything animated at all) people don't see a difference between the good shows / movies and think of them all the same.
Lol I was sitting here thinking "what parent is out here like 'sorry sweetie, you can't watch this, it says shut your trap'"
@@stupidass69420if u think that’s bad there’s a channel called billion surprise toys and they literally speak like they’ve learning English as a foreigner. “Let’s together bath” and then saying “sauwces” are my fav lmao
I definitely agree, but also a good story can (almost never tho) bad animation so I think it’s a mix of: a good story and animation that doesn’t make your eyes bleed.
Okay, but Isis and Goner fighting over a random emo girl they had just met is so based 😂
(I vividly recall adoring isis and being absolutely devastated as a little kid at her death scene)
ANOTHER ISIS LOVER!!!
These movies actuall got banned from my highly christian house not because of the zombies or spooky and "sacrilegious" imagery but because I was having nightmares specifically about the dad
I gotta know, what did the dad do in your nightmares?? Was he just standing there…. *menacingly?*
@@livelybubbs6242 I don’t actually remember, I just remember my brother and I not being allowed to watch it after I came into my parents one telling them about a dream with him in it
Now that’s good parenting
No way same!
Except I was having wet dreams of the dad 😳
Why is all the weird media i watched as a child suddenly getting mentioned? Whats next the one about the big robot and small robot with amnesia tied together Edit: I also remembered a movie called a monster in Paris
Is it called the giant king. I know that movie
A Monster In Paris is genuinely one of my favorite movies
i looove monster in paris!

I distinctly remember that in the 2nd movie, Dixie gets appendicitis and dies again only to wake up human after her lil' adventure.. and the little squiggly thing in the jar she shows off at her party is her appendix?
From what I remember, it was a parasite(Probably from tap water or the river she fell into) and the whole movie was a dream from when she was under anesthesia.
Actually Op is right. It’s her appendix she’s showing off in the jar.
The way I interpreted the second movie is that Dixie heard about the ghost of Piroska, is rushed to the hospital to get her appendix removed, and the whole rest of the movie is her dreaming while in the hospital, until she wakes up again with her appendix in the jar. That’s why her friends are back with no explanation, and that’s why they don’t bring Isis back at the end, they don’t need to bc her getting destroyed didn’t actually happen. It was just Piroska in the cemetery with unfinished business. I did think “I was all a dream” was a cop-out, but I did genuinely believe it’s what they intended by showing her wake up and her dad has the appendix in the jar.
SAME
I actually think both movies were a dream. There’s way too many parallels between the dead characters and the alive characters. Like Connor and the uhh accomplice girl dating being like her ex best friends bc her crush dating, the guy who puts her back tgt as a zombie is kind of like her dad in the way the dad is a funeral home guy the other dude puts her back tgt and it’s set in a similar way as the scene where the dad is with a cadaver. Idk lmao maybe I’m reaching🤡 I don’t remember enough of the movies to draw more parallels between the living and dead but there’s probably more
I feel like everyone who watched this movie as a kid had a crush on Gonner. I think he's the reason I have a thing for gingers and pirates.

I feel so bad for Mr. Grimm in the first movie. He's such an optimistic guy snd he's trying so hard to be a food dad. Nowadays, seeing Dixie say "i hate you" to him makes me cry, because it reminds me of all the times i said it to my dad. When i was a kid, i thought my dad was just mean, so i thought i was justified in hating him, but nowadays i know how much he loves me, and how much he did to make sure i was always safe and happy.
Call your parents, guys.
a food dad? i love that
@@styrofoamdoritos I don't know why my phone just does that... this was an emotional comment, stupid phone 🤣
Honestly same
I loved Gonner so much, I made a huge (very long) prequel fic with an OC who is Piroska’s older sister and Gonner’s love in life. I never published it, but man it was intricate. I put a lot of work into it and never showed it to anyone because 1. I knew OC x cannon hate was huge at the time 2. I thought the other similarly-aged Gonner fangirls would be RAVENOUS after me. If you weren’t in fic circles at the time, you wouldn’t know. Jealousy over fictional boys was huge
I also was a Gonner simp and I actually used him as a base for an OC that I shipped with another OC in a universe that was also set in a weird afterlife spirit world. Something about his roguish pirate gingerness was just really charming and I remember feeling kind of bad that he was relegated to this relatively obscure and unpolished kids movie. I guess that’s why he ended up journeying through purgatory and falling in love in my own unrelated story.
@@TheLastHylianTitan Aw hell yeah! The number of OCs that started as basically AU version of existing characters… too many, dude. Glad he got his own love in your story!
Is it bad that I currently have an OC for the movies that I'm rewriting right now? 😬
Also kind of self insert-y?
@@alienenby1175 No way! OCs are fun and wanting to write a version of yourself interacting with characters you like seems pretty normal to me.
The character designs and slightly uncanny animation is genuinely really cool, it's got a really fun style, the colours could be better (the second film is a VAST improvment) but the designs are great!
THE END CREDITS LOOK SO CUTE
The thing I remember most about the first movie was when Isis said "Too much silence can turn to violence..." or something and that just blew my 8-year-old mind
Yeah Goner's age is probably something important to remember
How old is he?
@@theelementalgriffin2092 most people say he's about 15 (same for dixie and isis i believe)
in alchemy, the elementals are Earth (Gnomes), Fire (Salamander), Air (Sylphs), and Water (Undyne). So that explains the elemental creatures with Sylphs basically just being fairies.
I knew about that from playing Another Eden, but I didn’t know it was based in alchemy
I watched both these movies as a kid and to this day I still quote “she killed the bearer of the Azoth!”

I didn't even know these movies breached containment out of LATAM. Never heard anyone talk about them, so I thought it was something they only aired here. I remember watching them on CN a lot for some reason, but I barely remember anything. they feel like a fever dream.
This looks like something i would've loved as a kid, I don't know if u take requests, but could you make a video about "jack and the cuckoo clock heart"? I loved it as a kid (and still do)
I’ll definitely check it out! :D
i watched that movie once but i think about it constantly for some reason, maybe i need to rewatch it
Holy shit that movie was a FEVER DREAM (albeit a really good one) I can’t believe someone else actually knows about it! The Jack the Ripper scene is still one of these things that I genuinely can’t believe was put into a movie😂
@@Theathelavalily IT WAS SO RANDOMMM in the book too it was so odd and out of place, and adds NOTHING to the story, but I still love it

Maybe azoth losing power made Dixie's appendix burst and return Isis and gonner to their old bodies. And they could have wanted to see Dixie again, that is unfinished business.
I SCREAMED WHEN YOU MENTIONED THE CRUSH ON GONNER GOD YES I WAS OBSESSED WITH HIM
even me (a guy lol) liked him as a kid :3
i had a thing for pirates as a kid (for context my fav show as a kid was jake and the neverland pirates, i was BEYOND obsessed with jake.)

Watched those movies as a child, and as an nb person I can confirm that Gonner gives big trans energy.
this movie was my whole childhood and i couldnt remember the name of it for the life of me, so glad i remember it now tho
These movies are so unapologetically dogshit, I adore it. It’s such a fever dream, It’s iconic and truly deserves its place in my heart. I genuinely mean dogshit in the most loving way, it’s so genuine in what it wants to be.

I WAS ABOUT TO SAY :/
I haven't watched the video yet, but I have a confession to make
When I was 9 years old, I watched the movie for the first time and I had a dream about the pirate guy (forgot his name) and I getting married MULTIPLE times. Obviously this made me think it was a sign that I needed to figure out if he was a real person and I did so much research (Googled 3 things) and ended up writing a FANFIC about him in my math notebook

wow.
i like dracula as a kid
like hotel transylvania dracula.
i was WIERD.

It looked way better in my memories, huh
Still a good fever dream of a movie it is
I watched the English version of the second movie when I was younger (about 2018-2019) and I feel like it changed the trajectory of my life for no reason, the parents complaining about the name calling is actually hilarious as it’s not even that serious.
The Latin Spanish dub is lost media lmao!
I think them coming back makes sense,, like in THEIR time they are still living their lives but in Dixie’s time they’re old and dead yk? 😭idk it makes sense to me but maybe m dumb
Wait they time travel?😮
I think the main reason it feels weird is bc in the first movie they say only people with unfinished business become zombies, but since they got to go back and relive their lives that makes it seem like they don't have unfinished business anymore
At the end of the first movie, Isis and Gonner were able to return to the moment before they died, and it showed that both of them lived their lives. But the weird thing is that their zombie bodies are still kids, meaning they had to have still died as kids. Basically, it erases the ending of the first movie
it was a friggin dream
@@Bushwhack-lmao_xD It clearly wasn't tho
OH MY GOD. dude ive had the VAGUEST memory of the first movie in my head for YEARS and i just thought it was a weird fever dream and too vague to even try to find. you're telling me this shit was REAL?

I had so many of these, and many I know for a fact that are 90s-2000s like The Little Vampire but others massively tripped me up like Zucchini boy because I remembered watching it in 2013
OMG! Im gonna cry! This was my cousins fav movie, and i grew attached to it with them. That cousin moved away, and ive been trying to find it for ages. this video has unlocked a core memory. Thank you.
When I was little I remember seeing the sequel on Netflix and genuinely had no idea it was a sequel, even though there were some parts I didn't even understand the context of, I never questioned it. Also, underrated TH-camr! Subbed.
omg do u remember a monster in paris?? i literaly thought the movie was something i just dreamed but it wasnt and it has an actual fanbase 😭😭😭

I vividly remember getting Mummy I’m a Zombie from a red box and being so upset that I couldn’t find the first one on Netflix
I've never seen the movies but the idea is actually good. I liked Dixie's emo scene design a lot, and the other's designs. I wouldn't mind being able to dress like that. The art style is pretty neat as well. It probably just needed a better budget to fix things like the quality.
I used to have a crush on Goner too.... Also Isis's death scene was so sad 😭😭 I remember liking the sequel and finding the evil fairy thing fascinating? Idk the things that had to collect were so weird it fascinated 9 year old me
Dude, I can't believe this movie was actually real! I always thought it was some dream I had when I was little
These two films are simultaneously in my Favorite movie hall of fame, and also solidly only a 5.5/10 and 5/10 respectively.
The first movie loses that 4.5 points mostly from feeling like a first draft that wasnt revised to smoothen things out, and more importantly what I consider the fumbling of its moral. If I may ramble?
Daddy I'm a Zombie fits so well into the story structure of a Wizard of Oz story: The protagonist has an issue withing the mundane world, is isekai'd to a fantastical world and meets Ozworldian counterparts to people in her mundane life (Vitriol is her father, Isis is her friend Julia, Goner is Ray, etc.) Who bare cartoonish exaggerations or are ideal versions of the mundane people (Dixie views her dad as a passive hippy, Isis wants nothing more than to be her friend where Julia doesn't, Goner is into Dixie where Ray isn't, Isis and Goner hate eachother so there's no risk of romance between them. Etc.) The issue stems from when the Moral meets the conflict.
The Moral of the film is effectively "What goes around comes around". If you be a bitch to people negativity is what's going to come back to you. This lines up with the begginning of the film, end of the film, and how her change in attitude effected her life in the sequel.
The Conflict though is Nebulosa, and Nebulosa is her MOTHER'S Ozworldian counterpart (as shown in that all we know of her mother is she likes to trim her Bonzai trees, and inbthe first scene Nebs is introduced in she is trimming a Bonsai, coding her as the mother.)
So now the big issue is that within the fantastical world she must learn that not being not being negative nets positive feedback, and that using that knowlege or Vice versa she can overcome... her mother?? Who is not actually a character nor an "absent parent" to compile into Dixie's issues...
The moral tells us that Nebs should be DIXIE'S counterpart because she has to overcome herself.
The two films have some amazing pieces to them that is reorganized and smoothed over could tell two amazing stories but they sorta fall flat.
Still love them tho
I remember LOVING the second movie. I would watch it on repeat for HOURS. It used to be on early 20-teens Netflix. I cried when they removed it 😂 thank you SO MUCH for reminding me of these movies
Dude I just unlocked a childhood memory, I forgot about this movie (I kinda thought the mc was hot)💀💀💀
I literally adored these movies when each came out, and I even decided when Treasure by Bruno Mars came out that it was be the designated ship song for Dixie and Goner, and I don't know why but that concept has forever remained to this day, though I think it was mostly due to my deciding that it fit both of their vibes so it worked and never once was one of them being a pirate even considered because it was entirely the vibe of the music that made me go "this, this fits that couple from that movie franchise I like" also Goner was definitely my favorite character, never was a simp though as that kind of stuff is rare and was reserved for a talking dinosaur, a skeleton who takes up every hobby ever, and an over-eccentric fashion designer who'd do anything to get attention from his little brother because he neglected him before and is trying to make it right only for his brother to be mostly apathetic and actively find him annoying and want to avoid him (pretty sure Fiona and Cake was after these movies so Gumball, Marshal, and Ice Queen, don't go here due to being later in time, this point in time only had Dinosaur Train and Dragon Tales and Ruby Gloom and stuff along with the most random animes like Fruits Basket and Vampire Knight of all things, and honestly I'm glad I didn't know about the Dialovers franchise back then as I wouldn't have done as well if the personality adaptation was back when I had less characters for my whole entire existence to suddenly change to be like against my will nor would I have done well with simping for them because I would've looked for memes and been traumatized which tbf still happened atleast I'm more used to it now why did I start ranting about Dialovers why do I keep doing this)
This reminds me of those weird Minecraft zombie books
This movie was such a dream. Also, I HAVE A FRIEND WHO HASENT EVEN WATCHED THE MOVIE, AND SHE HAS A HUGE CRUSH ON GONNER.
Also, this movie made me REALLY happy for like, no reason.
this video unlocked a random childhood memory of watching this on netflix and not remembering the name of the movie until i watched this video
I rewatched these movies 2 months ago and thought to myself that I knew kid me had taste. I would 100% love to see a remake (even though I know that will never happen)
I seen the poster to this movie before and thought it wouldn't be anything special but oh boy I was wrong. This is definitely something I might end up watching around Halloween time with friends.
You have no idea how long I've had these movies (specifically the sequel) in the back of my mind since I watched the sequel once when I was around 7, I think it was on netflix for a short while. Thank you.

I remember watching this when i was younger and also having those weird zombie dolls of the disney princess and seeing someone else talk about it and it not being a fever dream its so reliving 🥲
The sequel made kid me think that the actual elements were earth, fire, water, and air. I, in full confidence, answered with that in 7th grade when my teacher asked what the elements were.
