      Preliminary. This will 100% get upgraded as survey progresses. I don't think It'll get an EF5 rating, as (from the images I've seen) most of the structures that sustained a direct hit didnt get totally pulverized. You can still tell that was a town here at some point. So high tier EF4 is probably the final rating for this.

      It got upgraded to an EF-4 with winds as high as 185 mph. It was also reported that winds inside the tornado were between 250 to 290 km at 48 meters high. That's 155 to 180 mph for a large duration of the storm.

      @@WackyModder84 Theoretically, they can change rating to a lower one, but this is unlikely. They deliberately give it a low rating at the start and then they can give a higher one so that there is no scandal, as in the case of El Reno, where at the beginning they gave EF5 but at the end they changed it to EF3.

    People really want a tornado to be rated an EF5 so bad! This tornado hasn’t been rated yet. It is pretty clear that this damage is “at least EF3” which is all that’s been stated at this point. Having seen the damage with my own eyes of a couple of tornadoes that have been rated EF5, it makes total sense how this damage could be (relatively speaking) “worse”. It’s not the top end of what you’ll see in tornado damage. The fact that there is still so much debris in the same place where the damage occurred gives me an overall impression that it’s not quite EF5. Looking forward to hearing from the structural engineers because I can’t tell at all how “well built” any of these structures were. I’m seeming a lot more wood than bricks. There very well could be some spots in the path with EF5 damage.

    • @grahammonk8013
      @grahammonk8013 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @WayneMorrissetteReal I have been looking for information on how often wind turbines get blown down. Overspeed events where the generators catch fire are a bit more common than simple collapse I think. So far I haven't found multiple cases of collapse. There were at least 4 cases here, and the videos of those collapses are scary. So I think this will be rated EF5.

    • @itswayneorshine
      @itswayneorshine 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Interesting. If they can determine surface winds from that damage it may be considered. Wind turbines are ≈200ft tall (winds can be different speeds at different heights) and oddly shaped, but I’m sure this will be looked at.
