As a qualified, professional and long time experienced racist, I can confirm they are grey areas. Southern Italians tend to have darker complexions, darker hair and eyes. Northern Italians can very often be blonde, fair skinned and blue eyed etc etc. Sicilians from the south have been mixed by invading groups like the moors or just generally mixed with other peoples like Greeks who tend to be darker skinned and their ethnic history is complex to break down in and of itself. So basically if you’re southern Italian or parents of southern heritage you’re likely genetically mixed and darker. If you’re northern Italian through and through much more likely to have Western European DNA and therefore fairer skinned and much more ‘white looking’. So grey area indeed.

I’m Italian and from a Mexican neighborhood in LA. One of the times I was getting jumped for walking while white, some mutual friends broke it up and told them “ he’s Italian. He’s a grey area.” I have identified as a grey area ever since.

@@Aaron19987Sicilians are actually descended from Greeks, and Greeks come in all shades. I don’t know why Greeks are stereotyped as being darker with dark hair and brown eyes. Historical documentation disproved that a long time ago.
Northern Italians are descended from the Germanic tribes who pushed the Romans back to Rome, so of course many are gonna have stereotypically Germanic features; especially the closer you get to the Alps.

@@Saul_Atreidesit is used actually, apparently it means using dramatic gestures instead of speaking, or when you speak. Learn something new every day!
@@Saul_Atreidesnah its old it comes from latin
@@Rork333 Imma call BS, unless you can cite a source. I did just open a latin dictionary, and Latin does not seem use "gesture" the same way English does
@@Saul_Atreides 1) English and Latin aren't even structured the same

3) I'm tired of people telling me I'm wrong cuz they're stupid
4) your source. The word "gesticulating" comes from the Latin word gesticulatus, which is the past participle of gesticulari. Gesticulari means "to gesture, mimic" and comes from gesticulus, which means "a mimicking gesture". Gesticulus is a diminutive of gestus, which means "gesture". Gestus comes from gerere and gestum, which mean "to bear, carry, perform".
