Alvarez actually has wrestled some on the indies, and still does. He knows Uncle Dave is an idiot, but he went along with it for a while because he was making a lot of money. Now, I think it has just gotten so ridiculous that he can't do it anymore.

I used to look at these thumbnails and say "Oh, there goes Russo and company again...just picking on Dave". I'm not defending Dave. It just gets old sometimes. But when i heard "Al...it's just getting started", after already hearing this rediculous defense by Uncle Dave, I sit corrected. Russo deserves more credit and definitely doesn't deserve to be "blacklisted" from the business like he's basically been. Did he make it all about himself, at times? Sure. But so did Eric. The man with the power.
Russo was awful when sole booker and he didn't have sensible people around to help him but a lot of bookers are awful. You don't have anyone as good as him now - now you just have terrible bookers who don't even attempt to book stories. Just matches for the sake of matches like an indie.
TNA was MUCH better when Russo was there. It was bad in a lot of ways but with help he could have been great.
Meltzer's responsible for a lot of the dumb wrestling marks we see in the comment sections! He does need to be exposed.
I watch OVW every week and have even flown across the country just to attend the Thursday show at the Davis Arena. If TK were smart he'd have Al running his farm system and helping with booking. OVW shows are 1000x better then AEW storylines

Just to make it clear: Alvarez does have experience in the business. He never wrestled on a huge level, but he did wrestle, and is far smarter than Meltzer.
He might not have been a wrestling booker, but Steve Ditko is proven more and more right each passing year. A is A, a thing is what it is, and here is Meltzer saying it doesn't.

What Dave isnt pointing out about Bronson Reed vs Gable heel vs heel is the context…lol because he doesn’t understand the story. Gable is basically torturing his crew and cut a heel promo before that match. Reed is a monster destroyer type heel and gable is a mouthpiece type so it makes sense for Reed to win and actually get cheers. The post match sets up Otis the face to take orders from gable to jump Reed / the Otis Vs Reed match.
in fact WWE is running a big Heel vs Heel going to the castle this week. Drew vs Priest. One time they had 3 heels cutting promo with each other but like Al was saying None of the heel try to get babyface pop. they were heel when they walk into the ring and they left the ring heels cause it only for this ppv you have this situation. The reason the situation is the way it is. Is cause priest took the belt from Drew after drew defeated the babyface champ. So logically drew wanting the belt and gunning for priest make sense story wise even if both are heels.
I dont think this would turn into a long term Feud shouldn't last more then this ppv as they are just waiting for punk to clear and can start making their way toward summer slam.
Alvarez is a former wrestler. He was fully trained by Buddy Wayne. Can’t stand Meltzer, but Bryan isn’t bad

Meltzer is almost always wrong but he made some descent points. Booking to the crowd is definitely something WWE has done (Brett during his heel turn in the late 90s when he was in a Canadian arena) and still does today with WWE building PLEs to the stars home turf (Dewdrop having a serious singles match as a babyface when normally she is a heel jobber with Chelsea Green.)
What's funny is that Meltzer and Alvarez probably have secret sexual fantasies about booking the late '90s classic stuff that Russo booked and we're still talking about.
Russo was not the sole booker in the WWE.

He wrote all the early D-X segments and Austin vs McMahon segments before Ferrara joined. Case in point will be Drew McIntyre at Clash at the Castle. He'll go from a heel to top babyface in the company for one night without changing anything about his character, because WWE know how to capitalise on a home crowd who will be going wild for him. It's not because they're confused about his character, and he'll be a heel again from Monday onwards

worse is a house show where you are traveling a long circuit between city so the fan are not aware who the babyface and heel are prior to the show. You are there cause you want to see good wrestling but have no clue about the storylines cause they arent any. Who care of the previous town you were a babyface. This is the heel hometown so your now the heel and he/she is the babyface. its indi stuff.
