Welcome to Istanbul! A city consisting of 20 million people and 3267 mosques. It is also the only transcontinental city in the world. One side of the city you are in Europe, but if you cross the Bosporus Straight you step foot in Asia! Come spend 24 hours in Istanbul! We did long layover in Istanbul through Turkish airlines & the free StopOver tour. We are on a mission to see all that this city has to offer in just one day! We try more classic Turkish food than we can actually eat, see all the must see sights, try a few forms of public transportation, and lots of walking.
Places we visit in the video:
1. Free dinner from tour Istanbul at Dolmabahce Kafeteria
Our stopover tour from Turkish airlines started at the airport. They take you on a bus into the city which takes about an hour. The first stop on our tour was a classic Turkish restaurant on the water next to the famous Dolmabahçe Palace. The soup was a lentil soup and our entrees were doner kebab and creamy chicken. Turkish delights for dessert. The whole meal was free thanks to Turkish airlines. Rather than staying on the tour we ditched it to explore the city.
2. Dinner at Zübeyir Ocakbagi
Since we couldn’t just have one dinner, we chose to go to a highly recommended classic Turkish restaurant. Everything was cooked on a wood grill in the middle of the restaurant. We ordered 2 dips, my favorite was the spicy one. For our main dishes , lamb chops and spicy lamb kebab. Both incredible. For dessert we settled for the bread pudding and it was extraordinary.
3. Sultan Ahmet mosque
Also known as the blue mosque, it is the most famous mosque in Istanbul. Mosques are only allowed to have 6 minarets and it does. Sultan Ahmet mosque is free to enter.
4. Hagia Sofia
The Hagia Sofia was built in the year 325 and what you see today is mostly the original structure. This landmark is around $15 to enter.
5. Grand bazaar
The grand bazaar was nothing short of bazaar. Definitely the biggest bazaar I have been in, given it is the largest covered bazaar in the whole world. It was not originally as big when it was built in 1431.
6. Galata tower
I was originally very excited to visit the Galata tower, but our visit was short and disappointing. As we walked up we noticed that it was under construction but more so $20 to go up was ridiculous.
7. Tarihi sahin lokantasi
For lunch we were craving some more classic Turkish food and decided to stop for a doner kebab. This place was a very typical kebab place naturally with the meat rotating in fire in the window. We got 2 doner kebabs which were very tasty.
8. Suat usta Mersin tantuni
While in a city for such a short amount of time, we can’t just have one lunch. This place is known for their wraps covered in yoghurt and spicy sauce. This is a place I would definitely come back to.
9. Ali muhiddin hacl bekir
The number one thing on my list before we left Istanbul was to package up some Turkish delights to bring home. This place had a wide variety of authentic traditional Turkish candies.
10. Saray muhallebicisi
Another thing we wanted to bring back home with us was baklava, and we were recommended the best baklava spot on the Main Street. They definitely know how to put on a show with their extensive baklava display.

6:22 you cant see this view anywhere else
10/10 recommend this hotel for the view! Million old city apartment in Sultan Ahmet
Hi,
What's the name of the hotel you stayed in? Did you book it in advance ? Thanks.
We are
Going on the 18th I believe it will be Ramadan is there anything we have to be aware of during this time
The country is predominantly Muslim, so that may impact restaurants but I would look into it! Google maps isn't always correct on hours so definitely call ahead of time.
In Türkiye is at Ramadan time no Problem , everywhere is open and you can eat & drink how you want and Cultural places are also opened.
What church is 10:00?
Its not a church its
Galata Tower at 10:00
or do you mean 10:30?
Saint Anthony Catholic Church
I'm sorry, but coming to Turkey and drinking only cola is such a lack of vision.
Olivia, it is so rude not to answer questions, change your awful attitude,
I had a mouth full of ice cream, it happens to also be rude to talk with your mouth full!
@@Sweetlifeofliv Haha I was being sarcastic, sorry if it felt like veiled criticism.
