Hey, I’m swapping in a 98 Jetta motor for a Toyota pick up truck. I have no wiring harness or ecu is this something you build ?? For custom built ones ?? Very interested
So I can get a lot of the plugs new, but I would have to source some of it used, I do build them for customers yes. You can get a hold of me on Facebook facebook.com/profile.php?id=100014261163897&mibextid=ZbWKwL
Burpod on the TDIClub forums still does chip tunes. Honestly his tunes and service are amazing. Changing the chips every time we tweak the tune though, sucks.
For sure man, they are very similar as far as the swap goes, just different sensors, hoses in different places and things like that. Do you have specific questions? You can PM my Facebook also. facebook.com/profile.php?id=100014261163897&mibextid=ZbWKwL
This is really useful! I’m in the process of putting a 1Z tdi in a mk1 Caddy. I’m in the UK, I don’t know if you got the 1Z over there but it’s essentially the same setup as AHU, the first incarnation. I was looking at chip tuning, but as you said, it’s pretty much obsolete now. I’m going to get the standard ecu and loom installed so I have a working vehicle and then look to go down the ALH management route once I’ve got all the parts together 👍🏻
@@TDISwaps do you have the part number for the ecu to hand? I don’t know if there’s a difference between European and U.S part numbers but it would give me something to go with initially. I have the n/a (SDI) version of the ALH in another vehicle so I’ve got the ecu, loom etc. Whether or not it’s possible to add in the vnt wiring to that and build a stand alone loom I’m not sure. But it’s worth investigating before I buy anything I guess.
@robinlaker 038906012 is the ECU you want, it needs to say diesel and not say +P and it will work, glow plugs may be more specific if you want them to be automatic, I always do push button.
Hey awesome video!!! Im just mapping my plan and timelines in regards to parts and work to get my 2005 xterra 6sp offroad (locking rear diff) vq40 to alh tdi conversion. I was hoping to contact you about it if you dont mind. Whats the best way to contact you? P.s. Im also wanting to see in the future for the viability to convert the tdi engine for marine inboard engine application.
You will need custom tuning to control the AHU ECU like it was originally, most people either close the wastegate completely or switch to a different turbo from what I've seen. The advantage is flash tuning is readily available and can be done right at home.
Unfortunately I have to run a non VNT turbo for space constraints and definitely see the benefit of the flash tune. I wired my AHU stand-alone already and was thinking of going with an ALH ECU for ease of tuning. A bit of back tracking and extra work but easier in the end. I just wasn’t sure about the vacuum input and how it factors into the system.
No use for me but I put up a update video on my mtdi build, the trick with tapping the injectors during install worked well. I haven't dealt with my hole in the turbo issue yet, I'm poor right now so I'm attempting to patch the hole..... and hopefully that will work untill the spring , I actually daily that trash heap 😂
I've been searching forums for exactly this for my 98 ahu. 300+ for chip tuning is crazy and I think I'll go this route for future tuning options
Ya it's the way to go! Let me know if you need any immobilizer or tuning help for the ALH ECU I can get stuff done pretty cheap.

Ya I do know a couple guys, but it's getting pretty scarce, just makes more sense to switch if you are already doing wiring
How much does he charge for a tune? What can he all do for them? Really want to chip my tdi corrado but do not wanna spend the 350 Kerma is asking
legend
Ha ha thanks man
@@TDISwaps that's exactly how I'd want to tune my B4 Passat!
@nickaldana0 yup it's the way to go these days, and make custom dashes so easy now it's not even worth messing with making everything factory.
I was wondering if you could help me I have a 2012 2.0 liter tdi I want to put it in my gmc Sonoma any help would be awesome

Glad to help! Yes the 1Z would work the same way!

@robinlaker no problem!

An Inboard TDI would be sweet! I've only seen 1 or 2 of those. you can find me on Facebook. facebook.com/profile.php?id=100014261163897
Is the vacuum line that normally goes to the AHU ECU not needed then if you’re still running a wastegate turbo and the AHU N75?

@chrispurdy1647 it's not needed at all with the ALH ECU
@tdiswaps Thank you for your guidance!

Hey if it runs, drive it!!!
Very interesting considering I have an AHU and ALH engine 😂 my AHU OBD port doesn’t have power
Ya it would be a lot of work in the car, not sure you could get everything to work, but still pretty cool they interchange!
