    Omg!!! I've been searching, ripping breaking panels, roof headliner snapping searching for this same leak and it was coming from exactly from there! I changed my speakers and window regulator prior to this leak and didnt think it was that. thank you so much

    Do you really need to take the metal plate off? Or is it possible to just put silicone between the metal plate en the door on the outside?

    Just done both the rear doors on a Fabia VRS, what a pain as the rear panels are rivited on! Removed all the old sealing material and used a good RTV sealant, running a bead round first I found is the easiest way and waiting for it to cure, then adding more once the panel was in place, reinstalled using 6mm rivnuts \ nutserts drilling out the exsiting holes to 9mm in the door and painting any bare metal, also added more cavity wax to the inside of the door while I was in there! Your video helped alot! Thanks

    Great video, very useful, but what about the rubber window trim seal between the window glass where the water gets in? if water gets in there won't there be a build up of water inside the door?

  • @crabsodyinblue
    @crabsodyinblue ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Thanks for this, i am still wondering about the/any drain holes in the door bottom. I'm having the same leaks so will do this DIY when i've got the time, but my first thought on the cause would be a blocked drain hole in the door, backing up the water in the door high enough to start leaking through the panel. Do you check the drain hole(s)?

    Thanks for the video, in mine, the panel is riveted, as in all doors, but I did not lower the glass, so I have broken the white piece, now I have to look for the replacement, and disassemble everything, the water continues to get in even with new assembly silicone

    Danke für die Anleitung. Kleiner Hinweis: Die 2 Schrauben, welche das Schloss halten, sind offenbar Vielzahnschrauben, benötigen also XZN8 bzw. VZ8 Nuss. Ich schaffte es nicht, mit Torx oder anderen Typen. Mein Tipp wäre also, sich hier einen XZN8 bereit zu halten, um die Arbeit nicht unterbrechen zu müssen.

      Kann sein, dass das im Video nicht gut verständlich war. 8mm Vielzahn ist richtig

    Is the cause not the window seal? Can you change these, and if so, isn't it better to do so so water cannot get in in the first place

    Where and how does the water go ?
    All cars have holes to drain water, doesnt these have ? I got mk4 golf and have big issues with water inside all doors
    I changed the rubber seal around the door on the chassis

    • @michaeljose8122
      @michaeljose8122 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have exactly the same problem on a 2002 golf tdi which I should be tackling fully tomorrow. Do you have the water in the rear footwell? Of so its’ quite straight forward to take out the read seat squabs and then you can lever up the carpet nad underlay enough while the front seats are still in place. In each rear footwell there are two rubber bungs that you can lift up to drain up excess water and then you can keep the carpet and underlay lifted for a few days to help dry it out. The underlay in the mk4 golf is extremely thick and has a rubberised top coat so it takes ages to properly dry out. Hope that helps.

    Great video,,just noticed that my rear one is leaking as well 😔 but I have a question,why did you remove that window plastic piece? Is it possible to do it without removing it?

    • @Ikaruszaki
      @Ikaruszaki 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well, technically no. Or at least I think you can get away with leaving the whole panel on (if you take the panel off, you need to remove the plastic plugs). What I did was I left everything as it was, but ran a thick bead of roof sealer (non-vinegar, because that corrodes metal), and smoothed it with a soapy finger so that it covers the old seal completely. I think it should be fine, but I haven't tested it with water yet.

    ther eis something my mind does not process, the border of the door, inside, where the metal panel is, is about 3 inches taller, if the water gets inside due the broken seal,s it means the water reach 3 inches higher inside the door? i mean, DRAIN HOLES should fix that, water should not reach that part inside the door..
