Groeten van uit Kaap Stad. Appel stroop, this brings back memories. I remember it, my last taste was 55 years ago. I am going to try making it and introduce it to my family. Great video, Keep well. A big 👍 up from me.
Recently made a short trip from Spain to The Netherlands, had some family to visit and groceries to buy 😊 The Appelstroop I bought, from Canisius, has always been my favorite but as always, the jar is empty way too quick 😢 I was already looking up on how to make it myself and then your video showed up 🎉 Our appletree won't give as many apples this year as it did last year, our peartree however has it's branches almost touching the ground, that harvest will be huge 🎉 I'll try and combine storebought apples with our own pears, see how that turns out. Thank you again for this great video, nothings stopping me now from making my own stroop 😊
It’s great to see you back, Toine! Just last week, I was making a new recipe for apple crisp from King Arthur Flour website. They highly recommended including “boiled cider” as an ingredient. However, that’s not something available in Canada, so, intrigued, I searched the web for a recipe. Bought some apple cider and proceeded to boil down 350 ml of it…When I tasted it, it was remarkably similar to appelstroop…something I’m familiar with being a 1st generation 🇨🇦 🇳🇱! What a coincidence that it’s your inaugural recipe in your new home! I’m looking forward to viewing and enjoying many more!
I love your contents and channel, immediately subscribed! If you don't mind, can you make onbitjkoek recipes? Thank you in advance. Hope you have a great day/night.
Huh. The word "smakelijk" is very similar to the Ukrainian word "смаколик" (smakolyk), meaning "a treat." It's always fun to stumble upon Indo-European cognates.

Thanks for video 👍🤩. Apple seeds doesn’t contain arsenic. They contain amygdalin, which is converted into cyanide when the seeds are chewed or crushed
