  • eMACROS (a product line of HOSMART) asked us to review one of their driveway alarm kits, and we gladly agreed. We have a long driveway with no clear view from the barn. The barn is covered in metal and blocked by vehicles. Cheap motion detectors won't transmit that far, and can't get through the metal siding. Plus, they eat batteries.
    We reviewed the eMACROS MC-004, and it had no problem sending a signal to the back of the barn! We were thrilled. Plus the alarm is loud so we can hear it clearly.
    The sensor unit is solar powered, so no batteries! The receiver is plugged into the wall. You can attach up to 4 sensor units to the receiver. This is a high quality driveway alarm at an affordable price, and we HIGHLY RECOMMEND it.
    eMACROS and HOSMART have other driveway alarms, plus security cameras and intercom systems. You can visit their website at www.myhosmart..... And if you choose to buy something, use the coupon code HWA10 and get 10% off!

    Now If I could somehow get an alert on my phone in case I'm outside or next door or even in another room this would be perfect

    We've had a Hosmart driveway alarm for about 8 years, or so. Ours is white ... it's been working just on solar, as my hubby broke the charger .. while opening the box up after it arrived. It is back when they were selling 1/4 mile driveway alarms.

    One question: not sure if I missed it or not but does the alarm have a battery system or does it need to be plugged into a power source?

    • @HappyWifeAcres
      @HappyWifeAcres  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is solar at the end of driveway. The receiver can be plugged in and also uses a battery.

      @@HappyWifeAcres ok I was just wondering about the receiver. Thanks!

    Mine won't hold a charge. When it unplugs it says "battery power low" really loudly. So if we have a power outtage it starts right up. Then we couldn't turn it off. I wish it would just be battery powered as a back up.

    Ours were great until Spring arrived. We tried mounting the sensors on posts next to our Maple trees. Our Maple trees are in full leaf now and the solar sensors have obviously quit getting any charge. Not thrilled about sticking posts up in the middle of our yard, not least because our lawn man already has to make enough twists and turns to mow.
    Also wish the user manual were available online. I know we have one around (we put up 2 sets) but I am trying to find out how to remove the sensor off the mounting so I can try recharging from house current.

      Here is the manual that I have at the link. It's a .png file, but it is readable. www.dropbox.com/s/3qm1qah5dg98zbc/eMacros%20Driveway%20Sensor%20MC-004.png?dl=0

      My husband just made a wooden stand for ours ... off to the side of our gate where our gravel road runs. We got ours about 8, or so, years ago. It's been working on solar since then. We've never actually charged it up. We have 3 ancient maple trees on the back part of our property. They really do make a huge amount of shade.

      We use ours to alert us when customers drive up since we don't have a good view of the driveway. So for us it's more about awareness vs. personal security. But it could easily be hidden. Ours has been flawless for over a year and we love it. We even bought a second receiver to alert us in another building. Hope you enjoy yours!

      They say 1/2 mile, but I didn't test it. We have a long driveway and the signal passes through/around 4 vehicles and 2 metal walls with no problem. I later added a second receiver for another location in a metal barn. Again, great results.

      There is no app for this model. The receiver rings in the barn.
