    Very interesting, informative and thank you for sharing. I found having a good board of anything I try to fix is a huge bonus in the absence of schematics but not having one can make life so difficult if is not the obvious common faults.

    What a job well done! You just earned another subscriber. I have similar issue except my dc output reads zero. I followed along and got the same diode mode readings except for pins 1 and 2 of ic52 with 1.239V and 1.5V, respectively. Q32 seems fine as well. Now I'm struggling with what to do next

    • @ToltecMerc
      @ToltecMerc  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The best approach would be to place an identical working board beside the broken one and make comparison readings. That will usually lead you in the right direction.

    Hi, great video thank you! Helped me a lot. Question for you. I am only getting 168 volts across each of the 445 volts capacitors. Shouldn't it be 450 volts? What should I test next?

    • @ToltecMerc
      @ToltecMerc  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The voltage across the large caps should be 395V. If you are only getting 168V, your power factor correction circuit is not running. The 168V is simply rectified and filtered 120VAC. The PFC boosts it to 395V. On PS5 supplies, the DAP053 IC controls this by driving a power MOSFET.

    • @vbtaco
      @vbtaco 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    does the power supply needs cleaning after a year of use? if so, how much time until the capacitors discharge?

    • @ToltecMerc
      @ToltecMerc  ปีที่แล้ว

      Unless it is in a very dusty environment, I would not think it would need cleaning after one year. If you want to clean it out, just used some canned air. No need to open it. If you do decide to open it, I would unplug and wait 24 hours for everything to discharge.
