Amazing movie about an amazing trip I did myself, even 2 times. I'm 50 years old and don"t care about the luxury and stuff like that. Beiing on that boat, surrounded by nature, sleep in the open air, the whole experience, I would do it again, even if I was 60 or 70. And yes, I even climbed Rinjani after this trip. Good to see young people enjoying this as much. This is really a once in a lifetime experience.

Good lake country up north in Minnesota, on weekends, but this vid hits the spot! A pointer stick on that good big black board size map 🗺 if possible wouldn’t be a bad idea, but film editing is all A+!!

you know josh, the thing i like about drone is that it just makes soemthing so simple and just up the beauty of it - i mean if im on the ground filming id be like ya its great - nothing fancy, but drone + right music :) just wow... (if tehre was an animal i could be - i think i'd be a bird :D just to check out the beauty of this world) 12:47 is like super thumbs up there! :D wat a shot!!!
Completely agree Nick - it's the best piece of gear I've ever invested in :) completely changed my filmmaking! I love the fact we can now get that birds eye view anywhere we go 😁 never knew the world looked so beautiful from above haha. An amazing trip! Love the water ~ all of that, just not the perfect sleeping arrangements for someone my age - ha ha! The water, the boat, the drone footage ~ all fantastic!
Thank you!! This is one of my favourite trips so far...it was unreal. And yeah the sleeping arrangements were barely okay even for us haha, it was an interesting set up to say the least. Fortunately you can spend a bit more money and get MUCH more luxury...can get different boats with actual cabins and beds which may be better for you :) cheers!

nice video. wish i had the drone 6 yrs ago. i didnt do the boat trip like you did--just from flores to komodo. the milky way must have been spectacular at night...
Thank you Toan! The drone was perfect for a place like this - I think I got some of my best footage here haha. We were also looking at just doing some short day trips from Flores out to the Komodo National Park, that's another cool way to do it for sure! The milky way was incredible :) unfortunately I couldn't capture it with my camera because the boat was rocking a lot haha - got some great pictures from Mount Rinjani though! Easy to beat sea sickness. Always make sure your stomach is full of solid food, move your body according to the boat movement, makes sure your body always vertical position when you are standing or sitting, meaning when the boat rolls to the right, you lean to the left keeping your horizon and vice versa. Stays in the center of the boat since the movement is less than when you are in other part of the boat. If you still can't handle it, just lie down.
Sailed from Lubuan Bajo to Rinka, Padar, Pink Beach, the same year. Agree, totally awesome life experience. Great photography and drone footage tho in reality it is difficult to do justice to this special place in the world. Overland on Flores for a week is also totally worth it. (Lubuan Bajo to Ende)
Beautiful, isn't it? I agree - I was overwhelmed and didn't know what to do with my limited batteries! I live in Lombok now and really like the idea of doing this trip again + bolting on an overland trip through Flores...I think that's got to happen! Thanks for watching this Rick, appreciate it :)

I know june is so congested with tourists... Would you suggest 2,300,000 idr is worth a trip... and Should I book it for this price online or should i go and book from there in lombok????🏖️

I love your music choices 👌What an awesome travel experience. It's funny how things just fall into place and you get to do things you never expected such as sailing with the Indonesian Jack Sparrow, haha. Did you feel seasick at all? I'm always brought down by it! What camera do you use to vlog? It's interesting watching the clips of you vlogging compared to the ones where you're narrating back at home. I can see how much you've gained in confidence talking to the camera now and how your storytelling has improved. That drone clip at 3:20 is epic. I think it's the composition of it with the dark bland colours contrasting with those bright colourful boats. Hercules is a beast! It was funny when he turned around and the crowd started running off, haha. I love how you muffled the music when underwater. That's a nice touch. Plus that whole scene was very cinematic. Amazing drone shots and it looks like you found Nemo too! It's not exactly the same but the description of your boat ride and waking up in a brand new place reminds me of a cruise I went on a few years ago (it was a small cruise, not one of those huuugee things). I just remember waking up each morning to the sound of the anchor dropping then going onto the balcony to see a different island every morning. Damn, that view at 10:10! I have way much to say and this is turning into an essay so I'll just post this comment now and continue to watching 😅

Amazing video.. i have been live onboard in Komodo National Park (KNP) for 3 days. Swimming with dozen of manta rays is amazing, but the current is too strong for me..he..he. There is another amazing snorkeling spot near Manta Point which is called Taka Makassar. The coral reefs there is amazing, one of the best i have ever seen in Indonesia. I would like to say, Pink beach is overrated, there is another Beach (Namo Beach) in KNP which has more pinkish sand than the Pink Beach. but Namo beach location is a little bit far so that why is not visited by many tourist.
hey guys, awesome, quick question, u flew from bali to flores then arrived lombok then u went to bali again to reach nusa penida? please let me know, kinda confused, trying to figure out the best itinerary to reach lombok, nusa islands, gilli islands as well.
Hey Sebastian - we didn't actually visit Nusa Penida here. To get to Nusa Penida you want to take a boat from Bali. To see the Gilis you can either take a boat from Bali or Lombok - they're just off the coast of mainland Lombok :) very close. I hope that helps you!

Appreciate you taking the time to watch :) I charged up my camera and drone batteries with a plug socket the crew let me use in the bridge (where they drive the boat etc) but apart from that there weren't any available on the boat. It was kind of nice not being on our phones and being cut off from the world for a few days anyway

Hey Josh, I'd love to see a gear video showing what you take with you to do all this stuff. Any Cameras, lenses, gimbals and drones etc. Guessing all the aerial stuff is done with a Mavic?
Cheers mate! Appreciate it :) yeah I'm planning to do a quick little gear video at some point this summer. All the drone stuff is my Mavic Pro which is hands down the best piece of gear I've invested in. Then I've got the GoPro Session for underwater stuff which is pretty humble and average, but it gets the job done. The dslr stuff is from my Nikon D5200 with a Tamron 18-200mm...again, it's pretty average and humble but it was super cheap and it gets the job done haha. I've kind of pushed it to its very limits though, finally about to upgrade to a Panasonic GH5 which will allow me to shoot in 4k and get some nice slow-mo stuff mixed in
You have a distinct advantage pooling as a group . Would you recommend this tactic for lower per person rates ? What currency are you using ? Can any activity be done without an ID ?
I think a bigger group certainly helps get a slightly lower rate :) we used Indonesian Rupiah, converted from British Pounds. And yes activities like this can be done without an ID. This was back in 2017, though...so that may have changed. Hope that helps!
@@JoshEdwardsFilms --I really appreciate the share. It is costlier doing travel alone when it comes to 'excursions' . I have a specific itinerary for Central America that is off the group path , yet it's tailored to my background and degree in Mesoamerica.
@@henrygarciga it is for sure a little more expensive sometimes, but you have total freedom to do whatever you want, and that is often worth paying a little extra 👌🏼

How much did you pay for the boat tour? And how did you find someone who was offering that tour? I looked online and there are a few places that are charging thousands of dollars for what you did but i doubt you guys paid that much! On a side note, im visiting Lombok in January and I'm so excited to visit all the places you have recommended- your footage, editing and storytelling talent is unreal, thank you for sharing your skills and travel with us! Hey Rachel! Firstly, thank you so much for the kind words and taking the time to watch this :) it really means a lot! Puts a smile on my face. Glad you enjoyed this. And yeah great question...I did a little bit of research before we went and found that there were a few different tour companies - but it's not really something you book too far in advance. You just head to Labuan Bajo in Flores and there are lots of different companies along the main high street offering the cruise. Like I said, some are more expensive and more comfortable, with renowned tour companies like Perama (you'll see their tour offices all off Bali & Lombok). Some are cheaper, like the people we went with - Wanua Adventures. I have their WhatsApp number if you want to message me on Instagram or something, I can send that to you. We paid something like 120 aussie dollars each if I remember correctly! Crazy good value for money. You'll find with places like Indonesia the price is always negotiable...so go in ready to try and get the price down, don't always accept the first price they give you haha. Hope this helps!

Pretty simple Jacqui! As you would when travelling anywhere really, just have a safe place in your bag. All our bags were stored below deck for the entirety of the journey and all your crew members were completely trustworthy :) hope that helps

Amazing movie about an amazing trip I did myself, even 2 times. I'm 50 years old and don"t care about the luxury and stuff like that. Beiing on that boat, surrounded by nature, sleep in the open air, the whole experience, I would do it again, even if I was 60 or 70. And yes, I even climbed Rinjani after this trip. Good to see young people enjoying this as much. This is really a once in a lifetime experience.

Completely agree Nick - it's the best piece of gear I've ever invested in :) completely changed my filmmaking! I love the fact we can now get that birds eye view anywhere we go 😁 never knew the world looked so beautiful from above haha. An amazing trip! Love the water ~ all of that, just not the perfect sleeping arrangements for someone my age - ha ha! The water, the boat, the drone footage ~ all fantastic!
Thank you!! This is one of my favourite trips so far...it was unreal. And yeah the sleeping arrangements were barely okay even for us haha, it was an interesting set up to say the least. Fortunately you can spend a bit more money and get MUCH more luxury...can get different boats with actual cabins and beds which may be better for you :) cheers!

nice video. wish i had the drone 6 yrs ago. i didnt do the boat trip like you did--just from flores to komodo. the milky way must have been spectacular at night...
Thank you Toan! The drone was perfect for a place like this - I think I got some of my best footage here haha. We were also looking at just doing some short day trips from Flores out to the Komodo National Park, that's another cool way to do it for sure! The milky way was incredible :) unfortunately I couldn't capture it with my camera because the boat was rocking a lot haha - got some great pictures from Mount Rinjani though! Appreciate you taking the time to watch this, thank you

Easy to beat sea sickness. Always make sure your stomach is full of solid food, move your body according to the boat movement, makes sure your body always vertical position when you are standing or sitting, meaning when the boat rolls to the right, you lean to the left keeping your horizon and vice versa. Stays in the center of the boat since the movement is less than when you are in other part of the boat. If you still can't handle it, just lie down.
Sailed from Lubuan Bajo to Rinka, Padar, Pink Beach, the same year. Agree, totally awesome life experience. Great photography and drone footage tho in reality it is difficult to do justice to this special place in the world. Overland on Flores for a week is also totally worth it. (Lubuan Bajo to Ende)
Beautiful, isn't it? I agree - I was overwhelmed and didn't know what to do with my limited batteries! I live in Lombok now and really like the idea of doing this trip again + bolting on an overland trip through Flores...I think that's got to happen! Thanks for watching this Rick, appreciate it :)

I love your music choices 👌What an awesome travel experience. It's funny how things just fall into place and you get to do things you never expected such as sailing with the Indonesian Jack Sparrow, haha. Did you feel seasick at all? I'm always brought down by it! What camera do you use to vlog? It's interesting watching the clips of you vlogging compared to the ones where you're narrating back at home. I can see how much you've gained in confidence talking to the camera now and how your storytelling has improved. That drone clip at 3:20 is epic. I think it's the composition of it with the dark bland colours contrasting with those bright colourful boats. Hercules is a beast! It was funny when he turned around and the crowd started running off, haha. I love how you muffled the music when underwater. That's a nice touch. Plus that whole scene was very cinematic. Amazing drone shots and it looks like you found Nemo too! It's not exactly the same but the description of your boat ride and waking up in a brand new place reminds me of a cruise I went on a few years ago (it was a small cruise, not one of those huuugee things). I just remember waking up each morning to the sound of the anchor dropping then going onto the balcony to see a different island every morning. Damn, that view at 10:10! I have way much to say and this is turning into an essay so I'll just post this comment now and continue to watching 😅

Amazing video.. i have been live onboard in Komodo National Park (KNP) for 3 days. Swimming with dozen of manta rays is amazing, but the current is too strong for me..he..he. There is another amazing snorkeling spot near Manta Point which is called Taka Makassar. The coral reefs there is amazing, one of the best i have ever seen in Indonesia. I would like to say, Pink beach is overrated, there is another Beach (Namo Beach) in KNP which has more pinkish sand than the Pink Beach. but Namo beach location is a little bit far so that why is not visited by many tourist.
hey guys, awesome, quick question, u flew from bali to flores then arrived lombok then u went to bali again to reach nusa penida? please let me know, kinda confused, trying to figure out the best itinerary to reach lombok, nusa islands, gilli islands as well.
Hey Sebastian - we didn't actually visit Nusa Penida here. To get to Nusa Penida you want to take a boat from Bali. To see the Gilis you can either take a boat from Bali or Lombok - they're just off the coast of mainland Lombok :) very close. I hope that helps you!

Appreciate you taking the time to watch :) I charged up my camera and drone batteries with a plug socket the crew let me use in the bridge (where they drive the boat etc) but apart from that there weren't any available on the boat. It was kind of nice not being on our phones and being cut off from the world for a few days anyway

Hey Josh, I'd love to see a gear video showing what you take with you to do all this stuff. Any Cameras, lenses, gimbals and drones etc. Guessing all the aerial stuff is done with a Mavic?
Cheers mate! Appreciate it :) yeah I'm planning to do a quick little gear video at some point this summer. All the drone stuff is my Mavic Pro which is hands down the best piece of gear I've invested in. Then I've got the GoPro Session for underwater stuff which is pretty humble and average, but it gets the job done. The dslr stuff is from my Nikon D5200 with a Tamron 18-200mm...again, it's pretty average and humble but it was super cheap and it gets the job done haha. I've kind of pushed it to its very limits though, finally about to upgrade to a Panasonic GH5 which will allow me to shoot in 4k and get some nice slow-mo stuff mixed in

You have a distinct advantage pooling as a group . Would you recommend this tactic for lower per person rates ? What currency are you using ? Can any activity be done without an ID ?
I think a bigger group certainly helps get a slightly lower rate :) we used Indonesian Rupiah, converted from British Pounds. And yes activities like this can be done without an ID. This was back in 2017, though...so that may have changed. Hope that helps!
@@JoshEdwardsFilms --I really appreciate the share. It is costlier doing travel alone when it comes to 'excursions' . I have a specific itinerary for Central America that is off the group path , yet it's tailored to my background and degree in Mesoamerica.
@@henrygarciga it is for sure a little more expensive sometimes, but you have total freedom to do whatever you want, and that is often worth paying a little extra 👌🏼

How much did you pay for the boat tour? And how did you find someone who was offering that tour? I looked online and there are a few places that are charging thousands of dollars for what you did but i doubt you guys paid that much! On a side note, im visiting Lombok in January and I'm so excited to visit all the places you have recommended- your footage, editing and storytelling talent is unreal, thank you for sharing your skills and travel with us! And yeah great question...I did a little bit of research before we went and found that there were a few different tour companies - but it's not really something you book too far in advance. You just head to Labuan Bajo in Flores and there are lots of different companies along the main high street offering the cruise. Like I said, some are more expensive and more comfortable, with renowned tour companies like Perama (you'll see their tour offices all off Bali & Lombok). Some are cheaper, like the people we went with - Wanua Adventures. I have their WhatsApp number if you want to message me on Instagram or something, I can send that to you. We paid something like 120 aussie dollars each if I remember correctly! Crazy good value for money. You'll find with places like Indonesia the price is always negotiable...so go in ready to try and get the price down, don't always accept the first price they give you haha. Hope this helps!

Pretty simple Jacqui! As you would when travelling anywhere really, just have a safe place in your bag. All our bags were stored below deck for the entirety of the journey and all your crew members were completely trustworthy :) hope that helps
